We 10x(ed) our life by moving to France 2 ½ years ago. We decided to commit to quality for our time, our work, our lifestyle - and live with more purpose. Fortunately for us, the kids were on board with our vision.
The goal was to simplify our lives. Maybe it was a little complicated initially because moving to a foreign country takes a lot of organization and effort. But in some ways it seemed so effortless.
Maybe because it was exactly what we wanted to do.
Lots of people told us that we had such courage to do this - even though it never felt like we did. I guess because we wanted to do this for a while, this next chapter came easy, it just always felt so natural.
For some reason there is this thing in my subconscious that has always been there. This necessity to constantly expand myself and take leaps without a safety net. Not sure what that really says about me. But it has led to all sorts of great things.
Moving to Paris was an example of choosing this sort of freedom over the security that we left behind.
This move had been on the dream board for over 15 years. An impossible goal that we couldn’t have imagined would happen. But once we really clarified what we wanted and worked on our mindset and became focused on this outcome, with some purposeful work it all fell into place.
In my soul I know that we were able to do this because we have always tried to create and support the life we wanted for us and the kids. We had taken big jumps in the past and landed on our feet. So I guess you could say that we had a track record of sorts.
And I have to say that having such an appreciation for where we were and where we are now, while it may have been a little scary and filled with lots of unknowns, it was worth it.
My point is that creating a massive outcome in your life doesn’t need to be scary. You don’t need to know the how at the beginning, you just need to know what it is you want. The rest will follow.

Reason #521 that I love living in France. FRENCH VETS. I was teary today after bringing Lola into the vet. Not because anything was really wrong but because of the empathetic and caring nature of yet another vet in France.
We have 4 rescues that we moved from the US to France two years ago. One (Tink) needed a lot of care because of her congestive heart failure and the other 3 so far have just needed check ups and a chip registration with the French government.
And what I noticed from the outset is that the French veterinary system is set up much differently than the US.
Every time I brought even healthy dogs into the US vet I was upsold something or they attempted to get me to spend more. I have had dogs as an adult for the better part of 30 years and I have felt many vets, while caring, are always looking to have you spend more. Especially when your dog is sick, they nickel and dime you into treatments that may or may not work.
The past two years have been a breath of fresh air. Our dogs have been taken care of with empathy and compassion. And never with the $$$ (or €€€) being the motivator. French vets take time with your animal, they don’t rush. They exhaust all the less expensive options first. Never coming in with a list of ridiculously priced treatments and making you choose. You know why, because veterinary care here is practical and affordable. They don’t gouge you. They do what’s best for your animal not for their bottom line.
Today (with our 3rd veterinary doctor since we have moved) I was reminded of these differences and I almost cried because of the appreciation I have for the quality of care these vets provide. ❤️❤️❤️
Another reason I love living here.
Met some of our favorite people from Montpellier today at this lovely spot. Loved the interior. The perfect spot for an afternoon beverage on a chilly spring afternoon. 🍷

Keith and I get up early every day. Dogs walked by 7, gym at 8 (when my hand wasn’t out of commission), today hair by 10. Work is fit in there as well. 😂
The streets change so much throughout the day. Quiet, not a person to be seen before 7, then the later morning is still relatively peaceful. I love my morning walks. Even when the weather doesn’t cooperate. Maybe by lunch it will be sunny. ☀️

Monday morning. Coffee before lunch walking on a gorgeous, chilly but very sunny ☀️ day! The quest for dog food and a pencil skirt, all on the same avenue. Love hanging out with this kid. Well both my kids. The afternoon stroll was with my older daughter but I have no visual proof. The wrong handed photographer is very challenged right now with very limited use of my right hand. 😅

Just a few highlights from this week. I take so many photos walking these streets and I hardly share any of them.

When possible a private guided tour makes such a difference at a museum or gallery. This photo exhibit @centrepompidou was outstanding and very comprehensive. Our private guide pointed out a lot we wouldn’t have known on our own. We really enjoyed it. But need to go back and spend more time with this incredible collection of photos. Wow!
