Inspired by his fascination with decomposing Jack O’Lanterns, Sterling Ruby states “the decomposing pumpkins capture raw, unfittered moments that align with my artistic vision
and the ethos of Vans”.This 7-piece collection expands on the vibrant hues of the first collection, evolving into deeper greens and golds paired with bold, monstrous motifs from Sterling Ruby’s fine art practice. Built on OTW’s commitment to elevated craftsmanship, the Old Skool 36, Sk8-Hi 38, and Slip-On
98 feature custom Vibram soles, luxurious goatskin collar linings, glossy sidewalls, and sustainably sourced American cotton that supports carbon-absorbing agriculture.
The apparel line introduces a graphic-heavy t-shirt, long-sleeve tee, and hoodie, each referencing Ruby’s iconic 2008 “ABSOLUTE CONTEMPT FOR TOTAL SERENITY” series-embodying defiance and rebellion at its core. To bring the campaign to life, Ruby personally selected punk rock band Mannequin
