Der drohende Untergang des Nachtlebens

Licht aus, Musik aus: Diskotheken sterben, Clubs schließen. Hinter der Entwicklung - nicht nur in der Nightlife-Metropole Berlin - stecken Geld- und Generationenfragen. Ist die Party over?

Die Zahl der Diskotheken hat sich innerhalb von rund zehn Jahren fast halbiert, die Branche warnt vor weiterem Clubsterben und junge Erwachsene scheinen Exzess zu scheuen, was den Todesstoß für wildes Nachtleben bedeuten könnte. Ist bald tote Hose in Deutschland? Kommt der Untergang des Abendlandes? Besser gesagt: des Nachtlandes? Egal, ob nun in Berlin, Frankfurt, Leipzig, Köln, Stuttgart, Hamburg oder München?

In den aktuellen 20er Jahren ereilt die deutsche Hauptstadt jetzt jedoch die Sorge, sang- und klanglos unterzugehen. Clubs wie die «Wilde Renate» oder das «Watergate» machen dicht. Die Berliner Clubcommission warnt vor weiterem Clubsterben. Laut einer Umfrage denkt fast die Hälfte der befragten Mitgliedsläden darüber nach, 2025 zu schließen.

Sinkende Besucherzahlen, steigende Kosten und fehlende Staatshilfen bedrohten die Zukunft der Szene, heißt es von der Interessenvertretung der über 100 Berliner Clubs. Man stehe unter enormem Druck. «Ohne staatliche Unterstützung und eine konsequente Förderung der Nachtökonomie droht Berlins Clubkultur in der Belanglosigkeit zu versinken.»
