It’s and we are celebrating the love and marriage of Jodi and Barrie who were married at The Parkgate Hotel in Cardiff at the end of last month.

We received some wonderful feedback from the happy couple that we’d love to share with you along with some photographs of their special day.

On today’s we’ll be looking at September’s birth flower which is the Aster (commonly known as September Flower).
According to Greek legend, Asters were formed when the Goddess Astraea cried when she saw there were no stars upon Earth and the flowers then sprouted from her tears.
The Aster is a wildflower and comes in an array of colours but we typically choose to stock either lilac or purple shades as it’s Dee’s favourite colour 💜

On today’s we’ll be telling you a bit about August’s birth flower, the Gladiolus (or Gladioli).

The name originates from the Latin word for sword “gladius” and it’s easy to see why given its elongated shape and bladed leaves.

Gladioli are a perennial plant (they come back year after year) and grow from corms rather than seeds (similar to a bulb) and they are part of the Iris family.

Gladioli come in a whole host of colours but here are some lovely pink ones that we used in a bouquet 💐

It’s and this week we’re sharing photos of Sophie & Steve’s recent wedding captured wonderfully by Laura Grace Photography 📸

Sophie carried a cascade bouquet containing 6 different rose varieties, gypsophila, carnations and freesia. Her bridesmaids carried posies of gypsophila and roses. Groom Steve wore a traditional buttonhole featuring a rose and freesia.

We collaborated with local company Starlight Events in order to coordinate with the couples centrepieces and aisle decor.

44 years in business and still going strong!

I love serving the people of Aberdare and have such a wonderful bunch of customers, some of whom have been with me right from the very beginning.

There are lots of aspects of my job that I enjoy and no two days are ever the same. Some days I’ll be discussing exciting wedding plans with a bride to be and the next I could be consoling a family on the loss of a loved one. There really are a lot of emotional ups and downs being a florist and I’m so lucky to have such dedicated staff who support me.

If you’re a regular customer or a new customer I want you to know how much I appreciate each of you and how you choose to support my small family business.

Today I’ll be telling you a little bit about Larkspur.
Larkspur (Delphinium) is one of the birth month flowers for July. They grow as tall spikes and typically come in shades of pink, purple, true blue and white with over 400 varieties being recorded.
I can vividly remember the first time I looked at a Larkspur up close because I was completely blown away by how intricately beautiful it was. Have a little look at the photos below to see for yourself 💙
In the Victorian era, it was believed that Larkspur could ward off evil and in Transylvania it would be planted near stables to keep witches away. The Greeks believed Larkspur had healing properties and used it to treat open wounds. Probably not a great idea today as it is known to be highly toxic if ingested!

If you're attending a wedding then we can help you complete your outfit with a corsage for your lapel, bag or wrist. We have so many adornments to choose from so we can create your bespoke corsage to match your outfit. We offer both fresh and artificial options for your corsage. We are located next door to the police station in Aberdare and are OPEN today until 3:30pm, tomorrow until 3:30pm and Saturday until 2pm (we will be CLOSED on Easter Monday).

Our large double-ended coffin sprays are available from 4ft and then go up in 6" increments to 6ft. Here is an example of a classic white spray we completed recently which included lilies, roses, stock, lisianthus, anthurium and daisy chrysanthemum (6ft version).
