DISC BREAK RADIO - BEST OF 2024 SHOW

We have had another great year developing the L👀k Busy Collective brand. Gigs and festival appearances showcasing our style of underground House and Disco has seen us play several times in Manchester and our home cities of Edinburgh & Aberdeen. We have managed to get some limited studio time in with a few Edits released which we hope to expand on in 2025 with original productions. Finally our free premiere service for labels and artists has started to garner some traction with some of our favourite labels on our SoundCloud and new YouTube channels.

Last year we enjoyed pulling together a mix of our favourite records from that year that we had to do it again. So tonight on you can hear our best of 2024 2hr mix featuring 25 tunes that have done the business for us. Starting with our slower warm up vibes and building over the mix to those festival and club bits that did the damage

We were delighted to get Kenny on board after first hearing his rotational radio shows. Being avid listeners and purchasers of their records, when we read that Kenny had branched out to start a new solo project we just had to reach out for a mix.

The mix he delivers for us is top drawer with some deep chuggy and dubby house rollers

DISC BREAK GUEST MIX - KENNY BLACKSMITH

We bring the final guest mix of the year from us to the airwaves at 10pm with a stellar mix from fellow 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 followed by our resident from 11pm.

This London-based Scotsman played a crucial role in London’s esteemed label for the best part of a decade. At the turn of 2024, he unveiled a new solo project, and it was here that Kenny Blacksmith was born. With time to hone his studio craftsmanship whilst digging within his extensive record collection, a new direction has been set.

He’s a dancer and clubber at heart, with an affinity for the rhythmic instrumentals often found on the B-side. Think deep dubs and acid rollers with a dancefloor focus. As a result his sets are filled with energy and depth, composed with long organic blends and at times a subtle elan.

Working closely with friends and family, 2024 will see the release of several analogue excursions. His debut release ‘Monday’s Fish’ appeared on ‘Harmonic Frequency Vol 1’ and garnered support from , , .a.dance , .talk, Emerald and more.

He has had his music released on some of house music’s leading labels; Dungeon Meat, No Fuss Records, & Chicago’s & more.
He’s more in demand as a remixer and producer than ever before with his Dungeon Meat EP selling out twice and hitting the top spot in Juno’s bestseller lists. He’s also delivered stellar remixes for and legendary NY house label Sub-Urban, both of
which will be released in the second half of 2024.

In recent years he’s placed a strong focus on becoming an educator, championing the art of sampling and club culture through his sample label NITELIFE Audio, and being an advocate for aspiring producers by providing feedback and support and sharing his knowledge and journey.

Scott’s mix has that signature sound that we have loved over many years and features many unreleased productions.

A bit more about our guest below:
Since landing his first residency at the age of 17, he has been a man on a musical mission. An
avid vinyl collector and digger as well as a respected sound designer, engineer and artist, he’s
a true underground music devotee who’s been steadily honing his craft since the late 90’s,
growing into one of the most exciting and original DJ’s and producers active today,
Never one to accept being pigeon-holed, he’s drawn on his many influences in a career that’s
seen his creative output criss-cross between vocal 2-Step, jazzy house gems, sophisticated
deep cuts, jacked-up tech tracks, four-on-the-floor garage, and (almost) everything in
between.
The last couple of years in particular have seen his sound evolve, with his brand of freaky,
bumpin’ house and classy garage grooves endearing him to a whole new set of fans who
appreciate his distinctive and unique blend of sexy, swingin’ party-starters; there are very few
other DJ’s around who can seamlessly serve up fierce US vocal house, 90’s London garage,
and New Jersey dubs interwoven with personal unreleased edits, rare vinyl club cuts and
sleazy, stripped-back basement jams.
His no-nonsense dedication to the culture and excellently articulated wisdom about the
modern music business, coupled with an uncompromising approach in regard to his artistic
vision has won him many admirers, drawing plaudits and respect from luminaries and peers
such as Chez Damier, Mousse T., DJ Spen, Brawther and more.
Scott has performed in numerous countries including the USA (where he lived for 5 years),
Mexico, South Africa, Ibiza, and all over Europe. He’s appeared at leading festivals including
Defected Croatia, We Are FSTVL and Glastonbury; made radio appearances on NTS and
Rinse FM

Artist Bio:

Built in Leeds, Jedda is an Edinburgh based selector who runs “The Big Green”. is a charity party project with events in Cardiff and London focusing on soulful grooves and party pumpers raising money for local charitable causes, especially ones promoting climate positivity and action in the local community.

Taking influence from the likes of Daphni, Larry Levan, Ben UFO, Paul “Trouble” Anderson, and many more, Jedda delivers eclectic and exciting sets spanning across genres to cover all things soulful.

“It was an absolute joy to record this mix for my pals at Look Busy Collective. I love what they do, so I jumped at the chance to record this one.

There’s a lot of deep house in this one – old and new. I’m enjoying listening to a lot of piano / organ house tracks with rolling groovy basslines at the moment and channelled some of that energy into this mix. I hope you enjoy!“

SOUNDCLOUD RHYTHMCAST 209 - AMDH

This week we welcome to the podcast. The sibling duo of and .aif shape their journey in the electronic music scene through their shared passion and eclectic backgrounds. You can hear their influences in this super cool deep, techy and melodic mix straight out of Berlin.

Born in Strasbourg to a Brazilian mother and a French-Syrian father, their diverse heritage deeply influenced their musical development.
Ayman began his DJ career in Rio de Janeiro and later refined his craft in Barcelona, releasing tracks on melodic techno labels. MADAM, with influences from classical ballet, hip hop, and jazz, brought dynamic energy to her music, seamlessly blending genres.

Together, they create a unique sound that fuses groove, melody, and originality, defining AMDH’s distinctive style. Their performances are a blend of Ayman’s melodic ingenuity and MADAM’s dynamism, creating a harmonious and electrifying experience.

The mix features records by Theo Parrish, Kris Wadsworth, Stefan Braatz, Robert Owen & Fruit Loops.

Here is a bit more about our Guest tonight:
Yannick Roberts is mostly known for his releases on Freerange Records, but also released music under his former alias Ouvrijster on Sampling As An Art Records, Sleazy Beats and his own record label Dievegge Recordings since 2017. Yannick’s own take on the deep, disco-influenced Detroit House sound is warm and punchy. With sampling Soul and Disco records, he
creates House music for the place where it belongs: sweaty dancefloors. Always with the utmost respect for where the music originated from and with the a philosophy on how House music should be celebrated. This is reflected in his DJ sets, where Yannick plays vinyl to create such a space with warm sounds, solid grooves and yearning vocals.

On tonight’s we welcome an old friend to join us. .a.walker aka is someone we first met back in the early days at Snafu in Aberdeen.

We absolutely love the variety of his output under many guises and genre bending sets. A proper vinyl ju**ie too.

Now residing in Edinburgh and a radio host for the infamous station. In his words he is trying to join the dots between post punk, krautrock, ebm and the established or nascent bass genres from around the world.
