Thursday 7 November at 6.30pm
MacRobert Building MR051
All welcome

Followed by an online Q&A with the film maker

Join us for an incredible journey across Senegal with Sufi spiritual teacher Ibrahima Fall in this documentary exploring Fall's work and ceremonies. An exciting chance to discover the work of Fall, who played an important role during French colonial rule in strengthening the morale of oppressed Senegalese working and lower classes, and the ceremonies giving space for indigenous traditions to crossover within Islam.

Adelina Sasnauskaite is a Lithuanian visual artist living and working in London. Her work scrutinises the complex relationship of women to their society; navigating everyday sexism, pressures surrounding appearance and behaviour, and of course a sense of enforced performativity. In 2022 she travelled to West Africa to pursue a public mural painting project. and became closely involved with local communities and their rich spiritual lives. She travelled with Baye Falls throughout Senegal, documenting their performances and released this film shortly afterwards.
