Are you looking for a lunchtime activity? On the last Thursday of each month the Museum and Special Collections team will host a 'Lunchtime Doodle' at the Biodiversity Centre in the Zoology Building.
🎨Get your creative flair going and pop along to one of the sessions from 12.30pm - 1.30pm.

New for 2024, the Museums & Special Collections Lunchtime Doodle on the last Thursday of every month. Relax and enjoy some mindful moments as you investigate and draw specimens and artefacts from the University collections. You don't have to be an artist; these sociable sessions are more about having a go and enjoying seeing some of our collections close-up.

The first doodle is on Thursday 25 January, 12:30-13:00 in the Zoology Building. We’ll be sketching some “Timorous Beasties” for Burns Night. Pencils and paper provided!

Cafe Scientifique - Aberdeen City will host their first event of the year that will focus on 'How do animals build themselves?' with Dr Thomas Hiscock from the Institute of Medical School of Medicine, Medical Sciences and Nutrition - University of Aberdeen.

Dr Hiscock will describe how mathematics – and in particular the pioneering work of the famous code-breaker Alan Turing – helps us to understand the mysterious ways in which simple embryos self-assemble into complex animals. Come along and join us for this interesting talk from 7pm at the Aberdeen Art Gallery.

TEDxAberdeen is coming to the University of Aberdeen!

TEDxAberdeen have partnered with the University of Aberdeen and will host a TEDxSalon event exploring Aberdeen's role in the energy transition. The event will be hosted at the Science Teaching Hub on Friday 10 November.

Aberdeen has a long and proud history as the oil capital of Europe, now the city is at the forefront of the energy transition, a complex and challenging process. But, it is also an opportunity for the region to create new jobs, grow its economy, and become a leader in the global clean energy industry.

Speakers at this event will share their insights on the latest technologies, policies, and impacts of renewable energy. A panel discussion will follow.
