My November Guest

My sorrow, when she’s here with me,
Thinks these dark days of autumn rain
Are beautiful as days can be;
She loves the bare, the withered tree;
She walks the sodden pasture lane.

Her pleasure will not let me stay.
She talks and I am fain to list:
She’s glad the birds are gone away,

Brides bouquets X 2 for Gemma & Josie last weekend at 🍁🎀

What a golden one to end the season on, a beautiful couple who’s love radiated around the venue during install, so many gorgeous details such as their collaborative hand printed table signage and a personalised newspaper as their order of service. So much colour and vibrancy! 🫶🏻

Now it’s time for me to take a much needed break over the autumn/winter months to spend all my days with my baby girl, Iris. I will be taking 6 months off work on a very self employed maternity leave so I will still be answering emails, enquiries and taking bookings for 2025 and 2026 to keep things ticking over. If I am a little slower to reply just give me a gentle nudge and I will get back to you very soon!

I am hoping to get round to posting a diary update over the coming weeks as summer 2025 is starting to book up. I also have so many beautiful floral moments on my camera roll I must share so expect these to be drip fed as the nights draw in 🍂

September is a glorious month to get married, golden light, fields of bails after the harvest, hedgerows of textured silhouettes, raspberry leaf turning to a toasty brown and dahlia’s a plenty. Congratulations to J&G who tied the knot at on Saturday. 🍂

Ordering some tulip bulbs and remembering a favourite bouquet of springs promise from last year. It truly is such a special time to get married, gosh if I could do it all over again I would get married in spring. Little seedlings popping up, new growth in the earth for me is a perfect time to set intentions, a promise to each other. Not to mention the blossom, frittilaria, and of course all the different varieties of narcissi.🌷

What a complete joy is was to flower for these two on their family farm in an marquee. We created a foliage canopy overheard and rows upon rows of bud vases underneath, tumbling urns for the ceremony.

Hello August! I don’t show my face on here very often but with an attempt to work with the algorithm and a flurry of new followers during a busy July, I thought I better introduce myself.

Hello my name is Fi 👋🏻 I am a florist, artist, grower and mama to baby Iris. This photo was taken a few weeks ago on my birthday in glasshouse, admiring the geraniums, a welcome pause during a busy summer of juggling motherhood and running a business. I would be lying if I said it was easy, but I’m learning to adapt, asking for help when I need it, resting when I can and I’m finding my new rhythm. • Routine • Resilience • Ritual • My new mantra to live by and it’s serving me well. 🌀

I thought I would share with you a little about Verbena Flowers (AKA me) my home based floral design studio on a farm in Highland Perthshire. I create garden inspired florals for weddings and events all over Scotland and occasionally further afield if the stars align. 💫

I have a background in Fine Art, and graduated from Gray’s School of Art in 2013 before becoming a florist. I often dream up sculptural botanical installations inspired by the seasonal shifts and the years circularity.

My garden is my happy place and brings me so much peace. I thought I could grow my garden at the same time I grew our baby. Turns out I can’t - the garden is growing itself and the cleavers and fireweed have well and truly taken ahold. Although there are some beautiful white snaps that have overwintered and some corncockle seeds I scattered in the the tunnel that have come into bloom, along with our incredible grape vine and showing iris the tiny fruits is oh so joyful! 🍇
