What's on our shelves? This brand new, limited edition Burnside 27 year old from Halcyon Spirits!

We’re proud to spotlight Halcyon Spirits, a family-owned independent bottler from Aberdeenshire, founded in 2020. Their passion for exceptional whisky has already brought us stunning releases, including a Macallan 30 Year Old, Auchentoshan 32 Year Old, and Clynelish 30 Year Old. Now, they’re back with their highly anticipated 4th release: Burnside.

Burnside is originally a single malt from Balvenie with a teaspoon of Glenfiddich.
Teaspooning whisky is a practice where a small amount of whisky from a different distillery is added to a single malt, preventing it from being sold as a "single malt" from the original distillery. This allows independent bottlers to create unique blends while respecting the distillery’s brand.

Nose: Subtle citrus of smooth lemon initially, with some tropical kiwi fruit and a little tartness of gooseberry. Underneath and later on nosing comes the softness of pear and heather honey sweetness. Finally comes a hint of dried fruits – raisin and sultana suggesting the Sherry finish and the richness about to be tasted.

Palate: Beautifully balanced richness from the sherry and vanilla make up the start and this builds in the unique Speyside manner with custard and pear drizzled with honey. There are tinges of coconut and some banana in the background that help to meld the oaky spice back to the sweet sherry and vanilla. A little dry to***co leaf and liquorice. Stunning kaleidoscope of flavours. A medium body that coats the mouth well, with a pleasing unctuousness.

Finish: The sweetness diminishes to ginger spice and dry to***co leaf, but the underscored sweetness travels all the way to the end.

Nose: Baked apple, stewed raisin, and cinnamon blend with rich Sherry influences, sweet liquorice, light floral notes, and a touch of polished oak.

Palate: Sweet and spicy, featuring date, prune, and raisin flavors, with warming pepper, hints of cinnamon and clove, and tangy blackcurrant mixed with cherry jam and candied citrus.

Finish: A nutty edge balances the lingering oak notes.

Matured to perfection in select Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso casks, this whisky is bottled at full cask strength. The oldest and most exclusive core range expression of GlenAllachie.

Nose: Dark chocolate, honeycomb and raisin butter, with hints of muscovado sugar, plum syrup and glazed almonds.

Taste: Rich cocoa, heather honey and chocolate raisins, followed by baking spices and molasses, with notes of Black Forest gâteau, grape must and orchard fruits.

Finish: Long lingering finish of stewed red berries and milk chocolate.
