It was such an honour to win the Guides for Brides Customer Service Award 2025 in the Bridalwear category.
The awards evening was such a great event full of very talented and passionate people.

The 2025 Guides for Brides Customer Service Awards celebrate wedding businesses that provide exceptional customer service. Winners were unveiled on 27th March at Oxford Town Hall, with the event also supporting Helen & Douglas House.

As it is our 20th wedding anniversary I thought it would be a fun idea this afternoon to get my wedding dress out of it’s box.
I had forgotten just how beautiful it is. You can’t see any if the embroidery or beading in the wedding photos which I always thought was a great shame so I thought I’d take some pictures of her on the stand to show you all the beautiful details.
Yes I can still get in it. My husband came home whilst I had it on and didn’t recognise it😂😂
No I didn’t make it. I found one I loved in a shop in Witney called Fairytale. Sadly it is no longer there. It was one of their in house labels so was made by a local seamstress who also did all of their alterations. I wonder who she was. I was doing theatre work at the time and had no idea I would get into the wedding industry. I knew if I had tried to make it I would have ended up hating it so was pleased when I found one I loved

So you may remember I mentioned that I had won the chocolate cake in the raffle at the Customers Service Awards last Thursday. Well here it is
I had a long weekend away in the Cotswolds and so didn’t get to cut the cake until my return yesterday. It is very tasty thank you
Now the last photo is of me winning the cake and John of and I are laughing because it was my birthday that day and I had just won myself the biggest birthday cake ever😂😂😂

So I still can’t quite believe that I won the Bridal wear category in the
A huge thank you to all my amazing clients that trusted me in making or altering their dresses and for leaving such lovely reviews. I am so grateful for your trust and support.

A huge thank you to my amazing husband who has stood beside me all these years and supported me in the good times and helped me through the bad. Also for helping me with all the wedding fairs. You are my rock and I couldn’t do this without you.

Then a huge thank you to who have also been a great support over the years. But for those of you who were not aware it was also my birthday yesterday and what a birthday it was. The lovely people at guides for brides all signed a lovely birthday card and I got a glass of Prosecco, I then went and won a huge chocolate cake in the raffle and then went on to win the award. Thank you for making it a memorable evening.

Thank you also to all my lovely wedding supplier friends who have also supported me through the years.

I can now call myself Award Winning.

I’ve been having a bit of a trip down memory lane over the last couple of days. The 1/2 scale dress was a project I made at uni nearly 25yrs ago. The red dress is worn underneath the white dress. It has been living in the loft for years and has unfortunately discoloured a bit.
The Tudor outfit I made for my nephew to wear to school when they had a dress up day after studying the period. Again this was about 20yrs ago.
I’m taking part in a careers convention this week talking to students about careers in costume and dress making. I’m trying to decide what to take as there is very limited space and a long walk from the car so can’t carry any full scale models with dresses on.
Feeling the urge to make more period half scales. They look so cute. Shame I just don’t have the time

Just a heads up for anyone who advertises in Ox Weddings or any publication by Fyne Associates and doesn’t already know they filed for voluntary liquidation in December.

I’ve only just found out. I had paid for an article to be in their winter edition . I sent in all the work in December but hadn’t heard a thing. Yesterday I searched Fyne Associates and found the notice in Companies House

This is not a rant or gloat. I feel for those who lost their job before Christmas. I’m just trying to pass the information on in case any one else like me had paid for an upcoming advert and was wondering what was going on.
