🎧ANNOUNCEMENT✨ Silent Disco at Camp Severn - Kids Festival! ✨🎧

We are buzzing to announce that throughout Camp Severn - Kids Festival, the Berwick Bar in Area 51 👽will be transformed into a spacey silent disco! 💃🕺 This is included in your ticket price, so you can pop in whenever you like—shake your b***y, grab a mini drink, and head back to the main arena when you're ready! 🍹🎶

We wanted to add something extra special to Camp Severn, and what could be better than a silent disco? It’s all about going bonkers, having a laugh, and dancing your heart out! If you've never tried one before, you are in for an absolute treat! 🙌

👂 Three channels to switch between—so you could be shaking it off to Taylor Swift while your other half is rocking out to Def Leppard! 🎸💄

🔥 Bonus! The silent disco kicks off on Thursday for early arrivals, giving you an exclusive sneak peek inside Area 51's Berwick Bar before the main event begins. If you haven’t booked early arrival but want to add it on, just send us a message, and we’ll send you the details!

🌙 Inside the Berwick Bar, expect a nightclub vibe—dark, disco lighting and a proper dancefloor. Outside on the Berwick Lawn, our famous ‘beach’ area and foam party will be the perfect spot to chill and chat with friends and family away from the main arena. 🍻🏖️

🔮At 14:00 DJ Sean and special guests will take over for our mini rave and then the kids disco starts at 19:00. So Area 51 will be a THE place to be if you want to dance your heart out!

⚡ Final Reminder! Today is the last day to sign up for our 6-month payment plan! Secure your spot now and get ready for the ultimate Woodshrop experience! 🎟️👇

💚

It's Children's Mental Health Week this week. Our franchisor Becky has recently written a blog focusing on children's mental health and how we can support our children through their childhood. Take a read of the blog here:

Our children’s mental health is a priority. As parents and carers, we strive to have happy and healthy children and support them in any way we can. I don’t know about you but with so much going on in our children’s lives, it is often hard to know how best to support them especially when we aren’t with them all of the time and don’t always know what situations they have faced each day. My children are 8 and 11 years old now and this is what I particularly find difficult. They spend so much time at school and when they come home and they haven’t had a particularly good day or they are quiet about their day, it is sometimes hard to work through it with them and know how best to support them.

No child is the same so there will never be a strategy or best way to offer support. Our children also develop and change so much whilst they grow up so ways of supporting your child will inevitably change over time.

I think a key priority is talking with our children. Talking through each day and offering guidance where we can. Consider the best time to talk about their day, for example a special time at night time before they go to bed reflecting on the greatest parts about their day and then something that wasn’t so great. Our children are in the driving seat to their mental well being but we can be there on the side lines cheering them on and boosting their confidence as much as possible. Talking is so important and the power of speech goes a very long way.

If you have a child who struggles to get out their words or talk about their day then the thumbs up, thumbs down strategy might work well. You ask your child questions which they can answer with thumbs up or thumbs down. Start the questions off very light and simple. Did you enjoy our journey into school today? Did you eat a nice lunch today? Then if you suspect something you could ask was everyone nice to you today? They can simply answer with thumbs up or thumbs down.

I came across this quote from Charlie Mackesy and absolutely love it:
‘Tears fall for a reason and they are your strength, not weakness’ - Charlie Mackesy

Children learning about different emotions, expressing emotions and learning strategies to deal with different emotions is so important as they grow and fundamental in order to manage their mental health.

I just want to conclude by saying that as parents, supporting our children’s mental health is tough and there is no one solution. All we can do is be there to support and guide our children and do the best we can. If you need someone to talk to, supporting each other in our journey as parents is important too. You can reach out to any of our Pop Up Play Village team, we would be more than happy to listen.

Exciting News! 🎉

We have created Brand New Wellbeing Planning which focuses purely on supporting children's mental health. Our franchisor Becky has recently completed training on play therapy techniques in order to create this planning. Our Wellbeing Planning uses play therapy techniques and our village play areas to support children's mental health.

We have 7 core areas that our Wellbeing Planning covers. These are:

- Safe Expression and Emotion Regulation
- Developing Self Esteem
- Developing Problem Solving Skills
- Building on Relationships with others
- Developing Communication Skills
- Developing Coping Strategies
- Developing a Sense of Control

Our Wellbeing Planning is aimed at working with children 1:1 or in a small group to focus on one specific area to support their mental health. We can offer sessions in schools and early years settings as well as private sessions for children in their own home.

If you would like any further information, do let us know. We would love to tell you more!

❤️‍🩹 Kawasaki disease is an inflammation of the blood vessels. It is rare, around 8 in every 100,000 children will develop this condition every year in the UK*, but it is the leading cause of acquired heart disease in children in the UK**

📆 Today is Kawasaki Disease Awareness Day and it’s worth taking a few minutes to read about some of the signs and symptoms of this condition.

🔬 The cause of Kawasaki disease is unknown and, as symptoms are common with a variety of other childhood illnesses, it can be easily misdiagnosed.

👀 Symptoms:

Kawasaki Disease presents with a persistent high fever (more than five days) and usually with two or more of the following symptoms:

Rash
Bloodshot eyes
Swollen glands in the neck
Bumpy, red tongue (“strawberry tongue”)
Cracked/dry lips
Redness in fingers and toes

Symptoms can present together or in a series, not all at once. Very young babies tend to have the fewest symptoms and the rash will present differently on different skin tones as demonstrated in the cover image of this carousel - thank you for the image ***

🧸 Not every child with a persistent high temperature will have Kawasaki Disease but early diagnosis and early treatment for Kawasaki Disease is critical as it reduces the risk of coronary artery damage and acquired heart disease.

🤒 Kawasaki disease can’t be prevented but children can make a full recovery within 6 to 8 weeks if it’s diagnosed and treated promptly. Intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG), a solution of antibodies, and aspirin are the 2 main medicines used to treat Kawasaki disease.*
If you are worried about your child, simply ask the question, “could this be Kawasaki Disease?”

You can find out more and get support if you have been affected by Kawasaki Disease at societi.org.uk
