✨🎃 LATEST IN FROM THE PUMPKIN PATCH 🎃✨

What a wonderful first few days of our pumpkin event it’s been! We’ve been thrilled to welcome so many lovely visitors to Wasing, especially all of the little ones sporting their fab fiendish finery, picking pumpkins come rain ☔️ or shine! ☀️

We have also welcomed a TV crew who were filming the event with our Marketing team over the weekend as part of a very exciting project - watch this space! A very big thank you to our kind visitors who were great sports taking part 🎥🎞✨

🎃🌱🌽 THE THREE SISTERS 🎃🌱🌽

For centuries in indigenous agriculture, corn, beans and pumpkins, affectionately termed “The Three Sisters”, have been grown alongside one another. This method of companion planting enables the plants to flourish together, better than they might apart. The corn stands tall, offering support for the beans to climb, whilst the sprawling pumpkin vines beneath provide shade and moisture. In an environment where individuality is cherished and nurtured, each plant brings its supporting gifts to the others, co-existing in natural harmony.

At this year’s pumpkin event, Wasing will be sharing a tale of The Three Sisters with visitors. Performing a fusion of music, storytelling, mask-theatre and puppetry, our children’s performer will recount a tale of The Three Sisters throughout the day. There will also be activity sheets for children to complete during their visit and fun for all the family with pumpkin themed games under the stretch tent ✨

🎃 DON’T THROW AWAY YOUR PUMPKINS! 🎃

The Pumpkin Team are signing off until next Halloween but just before we do…

According to The Soil Association, 18,000 tonnes of pumpkins are thrown away every year which is an awful lot of waste but there are lots of ways to help reduce this…

🐦 Break open your pumpkins, remove any wax or candles and leave them out for the birds to enjoy

🪴 Slice your pumpkins up, remove the seeds & put them in your garden compost

🥧 Make a delicious pumpkin recipe

At Wasing, our catering team are going to be using our leftover pumpkins in their recipes. We are also making charitable and food bank donations. Some pumpkins will remain in the field to be cultivated into the soil which will provide nutrients and build organic matter for next year’s cropping. And the remainder are being fed to our herd of red Sussex cattle 🐮

NICK, our talented Farm Manager & his team, who planted 50,000 Jack O’Lantern seeds back in May and tirelessly nurtured our bumper crop into the wonderful pumpkins we’ve all enjoyed.

ANDREW, our CEO, whose enthusiasm for our event has known no bounds. He has kept our spirits high throughout and has been a great sport operating the tills & setting up.

FAITH, our HallowQueen and Head of Marketing & Communications, who designed, organised & marketed the event and who sold all 10,000 tickets.

SMILEY & MARTIN, our creative team from Wyrd Designz, who made all of the amazing sculptures along the woodland trail. We all loved the snail, serpent, spiders, bat, scarecrows & autumnal arch.

JAKE & JORDAN, our chef & barista & their team from , who provided all of the yummy wood fired pizzas, hot chocolates, coffees & Halloween cakes. Nom nom nom…

Our friends Gusto Organic for their delicious organic drinks & for keeping our team revitalised with Super DC.

And we’ve saved one of our best until last…. our Outdoor Venue Manager and all round superstar STEVEN who come rain, wind or shine has managed operations. He’s our very own superman!

We are pleased to advise that after the exceptionally hard work of our Pumpkin Team (thanks all!), we will be reopening today at 12pm.

PLEASE DO NOT ARRIVE BEFORE MIDDAY.

If you had tickets booked for the morning slots from 9-12pm today and would like to still come you can arrive any time between 12 & last entry at 3.30pm.

If you had tickets booked for the morning slots but cannot or don’t want to attend this afternoon, we will issue a refund. Please emails [email protected] with your order number.

If you have tickets booked for any afternoon slots between 12 & 3.30pm today, please arrive at the time indicated on your booking confirmation.

Please ensure that you wear wellies/boots as areas of the venue are muddy following this morning’s downpour. We kindly request that you exercise caution and take care whilst at our event.

Due to the bad weather today, we unfortunately have had no option but to close the event this morning for health and safety reasons. We will review the situation at lunchtime by which time the weather may have improved and if it does and we are able to reopen, we will move everyone from morning slots that would still like to attend into afternoon slots. Although at this time we cannot make any guarantees. If you have a morning slot booked and do not wish to attend this afternoon if we are able to re-open we will issue a refund. In the meantime, please do not travel to the venue. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

✨We are releasing extra tickets at 9am on Monday 25th October 2021 ✨

We weren’t expecting to be doing this!

As we’ve mentioned, this is our first ever Halloween event and we wanted to make sure we can operate efficiently and deliver a high quality experience to our visitors.

Over the first three days of our event, we have been testing capacity at varying levels and have been overwhelmed, even at our busiest times, by your kind messages and complimentary reviews. We therefore feel confident that we have a little space to add a small number of tickets. We will be releasing these tickets at 9am tomorrow morning (Monday 25th October). Ticket availability will be on a first come, first served basis. We’d like to remind everyone that tickets are non amendable, non transferable and non refundable. Double double, we’ve happily gone to lots of toil & trouble to bring you our PYO Pumpkin & Woodland Trail event! Nature is incredible and we were keen to showcase Wasing’s stunning Estate & celebrate some of its special residents so we enlisted the help of Wyrd Designz to bring our woodlands to life this Halloween. They’ve created enchanting sculptures of the Whorl Snail and Natterer’s Bat, both of which are rare species residing here, alongside giant spiders and a mythical serpent who you’ll find swimming under our bridge. They’ve also created our beautiful W arch from bamboo, plus scarecrows who are guarding our organic pumpkin crop from any hocus pocus! We think they’d love to hear what you think of their artwork… ⬇️

Hello pumpkin pickers! We are so excited to be opening tomorrow & look forward to welcoming you soon 🎉

Thank you so much for the enormous interest in our event. We have been absolutely inundated with requests from ticketholders to add extra tickets to existing bookings and to change times and dates. So this is just a little reminder that tickets are non amendable. Our event has sold out and we are at maximum capacity so for health & safety reasons, it is not possible to add extra tickets or to move into different date or time slots. It’s also not possible to purchase tickets on the gate and there is no cancellation list. Please ensure you arrive on the date and at the time indicated on your booking confirmation. Anyone without a valid ticket will unfortunately be turned away.

If you don’t have a ticket and have requested that we squeeze you in, we are very sorry but this is also not possible. October is National Pizza Month and we’re celebrating by serving fresh pizzas at Wasing PYO Pumpkins & Woodland Trail

So if you’re feeling a little peckish after picking your pumpkin, they’ll be available from our pizza oven both by the slice and whole for sharing. Alongside favourites such as pepperoni and margherita, we’re also making a Seasonal King pizza with a pumpkin base 🎃

Most pizzas on the menu can be made vegan too! 🌱

We are very sorry to advise that our event has now sold out.

We unfortunately won’t be releasing any more tickets this year but we recommend following us on Facebook and Instagram to see all of our latest news and be the first to hear about any future events.

Please note that tickets will not be available to purchase on the gate and we unfortunately cannot add extra tickets to existing bookings.

Tickets cannot be re-sold and are non-amendable and non-transferable. Please note that we reserve the right to refuse entry for any transfer of ticket.
