Whisky, Casks and Clacks – the story so far...

Clackmannanshire has a deep-rooted whisky heritage dating back to the 1720s when Kennetpans Distillery was founded by the Stein family and became the largest distillery in Scotland. Situated on the Firth of Forth, the ruins of what was once considered to be the home of whisky distilling and the birthplace of one of the world’s most famous whisky bran

ds, Haig. More recently, distilleries at Carsebridge and Cambus continued this tradition producing single grain whisky until their respective closures in 1983 & 1993. Clackmannanshire continues to play a critical role in a global industry which is today worth billions to the Scottish economy. DIAGEO is one of the major employers in the county through its presence in Menstrie (European Technical Centre and Archive), Cambus (Scottish cooperage base) with the bond at Blackgrange the largest warehouse complex in Europe holding about three million casks. Clackmannanshire’s Whisky Festival will provide the perfect platform for people to connect & celebrates Clackmannanshire’s history and our shared passion for Scotland’s national drink. However, at its heart, this event aims to raise awareness of mental health and male su***de in particular.

As year three of supporting Neil's Hugs Foundation comes and goes, we were thrilled to be able to present a cheque for £1000 to Donna & Janice which was very kindly raised by one of our fabulous exhibitors The Collectors Club Competitions at CWF2024

Over the last three events, CWF has raised over £5k for the foundation, creating the best memories and forming great friendships. Wellness is one of the three key strands of our festival format and are delighted to have been able to provide a platform the the charity to raise the profile of mental health and su***de awareness. In partnership, we have not only managed to raise financial support, but also enabled Neils Hugs Foundation to connect with other organisations such as our sponsors O-I Glass , to open the door to conversations, training and targeted support.

Please continue to support this wonderful charity an the critical work they do to support those who need it most. Sláinte NHF! 💜🥃

Bevvy Ballot: Woven "Thrice"

Our good friends at Bevvy are thrilled to announce their latest ballot in partnership with Woven Whisky Makers. The Leith-based blender have chosen to release their latest expression - Experience N.19 Thrice - exclusively through the Bevvy app.

Woven were founded by three friends driven by the shared goal of exploring beyond the limits of what is expected from blended whisky. From their blending studio in Edinburgh they utilise whisky from all over the world to craft their highly regarded, small batch blends.

Of the collaboration, Bevvy co-founder Laurie Black said: “When Bevvy first approached Woven, I’d tried a few of their blends and thought they had a cool vibe. It’s only been the last few months where we’ve been working a bit closer that I’ve realised how much genuine synergy and overlap we have. We both think the same way and want the same things. We are both passionate about making whisky a much more inviting and engaging category.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to be the exclusive partner of Thrice. For me, it’s an amazing dram which doesn’t taste like anything I’ve ever had before.”

Experience N.19 Thrice is Woven’s latest small batch blend and only 203 bottles are available. Thrice is bottled at 50.3% ABV and the ballot is open now.

The whisky is described as a ‘blended world whisky’, bringing together whisky from three different countries to create an entirely one of a kind drinking experience.

The ballot for Woven Experience N.19 Thrice is live now exclusively on the Bevvy app. The bottle is priced £85 with free shipping.

Deadline for entries is Tuesday 7th May at 12pm and winners will be announced the same day.

One of our wonderful exhibitors The Collectors Club Competitions on a fabulous mission to try and raise as much as they can for our charity partner Neil's Hugs Foundation .

Last October the TCCC Team raised a whopping £1000 for our Edinburgh's Whisky Festival charity partner My Name'5 Doddie Foundation and I know they're pushing as hard as they can to achieve the same for Neil's Hugs.

Yup, we have the first of another THREE new exhibitors attending Clackmannanshire's Whisky Festival on Saturday 6th April meaning every single space in the beautiful Town Hall will be jam packed full of the best spirit in Scotland.

Bring your skates 🏁⛸ ticket holders because you're gonna need them to get around in your 3.5 hour session.

All the way from the bottom bit, The Borders Distillery - The first distillery producing spirit in the Borders since 1837. We can't wait to welcome the team to The Wee County in a couple of weeks.
