Being able to manage the daily stresses of life isn't always easy. I find that practicing mindfulness, keeping active and taking life day by day, minute by minute are fantastic tools for helping me with this.

However, at night time it's a different matter. As my conscious brain begins to wind down, it's like someone flicks a switch inside my head and all the stresses I've manged to keep at bay during the day begin their noisy musical.

My unconscious mind doesn't care about my mindfulness practice. It wants to know what's going on, why haven't you chased up this, or that, and while we're here should we think about something we did 10 years ago that we regret but that is completely irrelevant now.

For the last couple of weeks I've started using Tapping, EFT at these times and it works every time. My mind switches off after just a couple of mental rounds of tapping and moves onto something else. I'd never thought to use it in this way until recently.

This is a quick fix and whilst it may not fix or heal the day time problems it definitely helps me to sleep which then contributes to a better me the next day.

Do you believe we make our own luck? I love this quote, it really got me thinking.

The Law of Attraction and manifestation are such powerful forces. We can prepare all we want for the things we desire in our lives, and we can manifest those opportunities into reality.

There are those people we describe as lucky are not usually the kinds of people that sit around doing nothing, they are probably taking action of some sort to bring the good luck around.

Luck isn't always good though. Bad luck is attracted into our lives in the same way - through opportunity and preparation. Maybe without us even realising we're doing it, we manifest back luck into our lives.

"Dieting" is when you eat food that makes you sad.

This is a light hearted thing that you probably want to laugh at. But there's so much truth in it. Dieting isn't always good for us, either on an emotional or physical level.

Sure, you'll lose weight at first and maybe for a while. Maybe for years. But how is it affecting you by constantly restricting yourself and being 'sensible' about what you eat?

Did you know that roughly 90% of people who lose weight gain it all back again. There's a reason for that.

Would you like to explore that reason? What if you could change that sentence and say, 'I eat what I want when I want it, and I'm who I'm meant to be"?

"To truly enjoy the downhill, you must first conquer the uphill".

I gain so much inspiration from running, I never thought I'd say that. As I was running recently, I realised how much I enjoy the feeling of running downhill. I felt like I could run all day downhill (unfortunately that will NEVER happen in West Yorkshire).

It made me think about how unpleasant I find running uphill. It's a struggle!! And I likened it to working towards goals - things we're working towards, achievements and how they can sometimes feel like a massive strain on your life, and you just feel like giving up on them. I've been there! Both metaphorically and literally.

You know what though, once those goals are reached, that summit is reached, no matter how worn out you might be, it's all worth it when you feel how good it is just to reap those feelings of achievement and run with those feelings, struggle free.

Happy Monday all!! I hope today is not too big of a struggle for anyone.

Repetition breeds habit. Habits are learned so quickly and unconsciously that we often have no time to intervene and stop them developing. These can be good habits but very often they're what we label ourselves as bad habits.

We try to stop the bad habits which isn't easy, so we become frustrated and often punish ourselves when it doesn't work.

Sometimes this makes bad habits worse.

We try to embed good habits but often push ourselves too hard. And punish ourselves when we fail.

It's a vicious cycle.

Yoga starts again on 6th Dec. We are including a simple but powerful mantra called Kirtan kriya.
This helps to balance the hemispheres of the brain, reduce stress, balance emotions, change brain patterns, helping towards release addiction, improve memory and intuition. It is a Master kriya for cognition and it describes the continuous cycle of life and creation.
The Asanas ( physical postures) is exercise, a meditation and a connection to energy flow. The initial awkwardness, as you continue practise, starts to feel better.
"The Asana starts to find a natural place in you, starts to be a bridge, a communication between the conscious and the unconscious, between your right-now intentional patterning and all the patterning you dont even know you had, then you start transforming".
The physical postures help prepare the mind and body for a deeper meditation with mantra, which with the breathwork is an important aspect of the whole practise. The purpose is to "elevate your energy with love, reach out like an open lotus to the inner Sun".

Pranayam - means expansion of life force and helps with energy management.
The mind follows the breath, so the key to controlling the mind is to control the breath. This relieves stress and improves healing.
Alternate nostril breathing promotes whole brain functioning, balancing left and right brain and increasing harmony.
We will be practising this in the class on Monday 29th. As well as kriya for disease resistance, mantra and singing bowls.

Felt a bit poetic this morning. Inspiration taken from my lovely autumnal run.

Our unconscious mind lives wherever we're thinking about, whether that be past, present or future. So we experience anxiety and fear as the unconscious is reliving traumatic times, or imagining scary times to come.

By placing ourselves mindfully in the now, our unconscious mind lives there too. Experiencing everything as it should be with no anxiety or fear.

There's a lot to be said for living in the moment.

The next Kriya is " Kriya for disease resistance" - to avoid colds and illness, it is essential to keep digestion and elimination functioning well. Add to this a strong metabolic balance and you will have heartiness. This kriya develops these capacities. It gives physical strength and builds disease resistance.
Also Pranayam ( breathwork), Mantra meditation and relaxation with Alchemy crystal singing bowls.
