ANOTHER EVENT SUPPORTED BY THE CULTURE EXCHANGE!

A superb team effort from the main collaborators that included TCX alongside Bentley Music Academy Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur City Opera and Tutan Entertainment in delivering a a weekend to remember for all involved.

WEST SIDE STORY is TCX's latest contribution to collaborative community performing arts and it is just around the corner.

After 2 years of planning (straight after EVITA!) here we are with our fourth international production.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the following for their generous support, with a special mention to those at the top of that list, as always Bentley Music Academy Malaysia, joined by Orkestra RTM (Orkestra Radio Televisyen Malaysia), Sri Wilayah Ballet Centre, and Kuala Lumpur City Opera

Since 2018, over 300 performers have participated in our international biennial collaborations. West Side Story is our fourth, and largest, production to date.

You can expect three intensive and fun weeks in which you will be guided in every step, bar, click, riff, and rumble by a team of great coaches!

Together with The Culture Exchange, Orkestra RTM (Orkestra Radio Televisyen Malaysia), and you will collaborate in one the greatest shows ever written!

DAY 6 – SHOW TIME!
They saved their best for last these young Agrabahns!

What these young talents did in just 6 days was amazing - congratulations to all!

Off book in a few short days, that’s 94+ pages, 11 songs, dozens of steps, dances and blocking, costumes and props, all absorbed and integrated within a week.

And a great time was had by all!

See you in 2025!

ALADDIN JR - DAY 5

And it's all coming together today!

This unique 2024 Disney Jr. cohort have done amazingly well to memorise the show, in all its detail, in just 5 days.

They've all been at school all day, each day, before they start at Bentley Music Academy!

Today was all about repetition and embedding the many new skills adopted the day before in time for Saturday!

ALADDIN JR - DAY 1

Over 20 young actors/singers hit the ground running on Day 1 of 6 of this 'Staging A New World' program delivered by TCX and hosted by Bentley Music Academy.

This brilliant and unique cohort have just 5 days to memorise the show, the dance moves, the blocking, the props and, essentially, make sure the T-shirts fit!

TCX CO-FOUNDER NICOLE THOMSON & BMA CHILDREN'S CHORUS.

Nicole was in KL, Malaysia, recently working with the newly formed BMACC ahead of their debut concert with the BMA SYMPHONY and making a major impression on these young voices in the process - who ultimately 'sang their socks off!'

The visit also included planning meetings for Aladdin Jr in June, West Side Story in December and the 'Exchange for Peace 2025' happening a year from now, a major collaboration with Nicole's home town of Mackay and the music community of Selangor and Bentley Music Academy.
