Just catching up with Bernice & Ryan's beautiful 'Little Ones' family elopement last month 💛

The weather was absolutely glorious and their outdoor barn wedding was picture perfect!

The children played on the terrace in the sunshine until Bernice was ready to walk down the aisle to their intimate ceremony outside the barn.

We had great fun throwing the confetti with the children afterwards, and then it was off to the lakeshore with Steve for photos.

** FAIRYTALE **

It's the perfect word to describe the gorgeous wedding of Sherriee & Joe, and a fairytale woodland-style wedding is how Sherriee described her perfect day!

Despite the rain (and gosh, did it rain!) nothing dampened their heart-stopping, puddle-jumping joyfulness 💛

After a beautiful, intimate ceremony and a quick change of shoes (we loved Sherriee's gorgeous green boots!) our newlyweds set off to explore the woodland, lake shore and caves with their photographer Clare Gelderd Photography

If that wasn't enough excitement for one day, they dined in style at the fabulous Stamp House, then cosied down for the night in our honeymoon suite, before jetting off to the airport on honeymoon in the morning.

** BOUQUETS ** - One of our favourite parts of your wedding day is when the flowers arrive!

Nothing lifts the heart more than beautiful florals- and they can cause a few tears of joy!

Not everyone wants to preserve their bouquet - you might just want to enjoy them for as long as possible after your special day.

Here's a few helpful tips that will help your bouquet last a little longer...

1) Choose seasonal flowers. In-season flowers are at their best, and not only last longer but are more sustainable too.

2) Keep your flowers hydrated as much as you can. If they can be kept in water (when not being carried) during the wedding day this is a huge help.

3) Try and keep your bouquet out of direct sunlight after your wedding day - a cool, shady spot is ideal, and if you're staying in a hotel overnight, keep them off the ground if your room has underfloor heating! If your bouquet is hand-tied, loosen the stems so they can have a good drink too.

Would you like to know what a day wedding looks like at the stunning Cote How Lake District Weddings in the heart of the Lake District?

Paul and Marianne chose Cote How's intimate setting for their tiny day wedding, focused on creating an intimate and relaxed wedding, of just 18 people. Their venue choice was big enough to cater for all their needs but small and intimate enough that they felt cosy and comfortable without rattling around a huge barn venue.

Their day started at 10 am, when the bride and her bridesmaids got ready in the dedicated beauty suite upstairs at Cote How.

Next, the groom and all the guests arrived at 2:00 pm for a sunny drinks reception on the house terrace before their ceremony in the beautiful and airy Fairfield ceremony room inside the house.

The post-ceremony celebrations included canapes and fizz on the terrace before Paul & Marriane ventured to the lake shores of Rydal Water, just 200m through the meadow at the foot of the Cote How Gardens.

Next, the wedding moved to the ancient 16th-century barn for speeches and cake cutting ahead of their three-course dinner, accompanied by a toast drink and wine, and followed by tea and coffee with the wedding cake.

The evening started with a beautiful first dance outside the barn terrace as the sunset over Rydal Water filled the venue with a warm, golden radiance, and their wedding guests basked in its last rays.

The happy couple stayed overnight in the luxurious honeymoon suite and enjoyed a cosy and private breakfast the following morning before departing to start their next chapter as Mr. and Mrs.

** WHY ** I always advice my couples to have a wedding photographer!

The wedding photographers that we work with are AMAZING!

** A Question ** we are often asked is 'How long do I need to plan a wedding?'

The answer? Not very long at all!

Once you have booked your venue and reserved the Registrar team, you will need a minimum of 29 days between giving notice to marry and your wedding date. For example, if you give notice on 1st October you can then marry on the 30th October, as long as all your paperwork is in order.

Lots of couples plan their wedding at short-notice, for all kinds of reasons. Spending a year planning your big day isn't for everyone.

** BONNIE ** the beautiful cockerpoo almost stole the show on Hannah & Adam's wedding day in July 💛

Hannah, Adam, Bonnie (and baby bump) were just the best fun, and their 'Paws & Promises' wedding day was simply pawfect!

The wonderful Nigel from Dapper Dogs Wedding walked Bonnie down the aisle in front of Hannah and her Mum, and looked after her in the shade of the gazebo during the ceremony (it was on one of our very few hot days this summer!)

Hannah's gorgeous bouquet (her favourite colour is orange) was perfect for the height of summer sunshine, and Bonnie was very proud of her flower garland.

What could be a better way to celebrate their wedding ceremony than with a paddle in the lake to cool down? 💛

** WEDDING OVERWHELM **

It's a genune thing, and we speak to so many lovely couples who know it's real!

We LOVE this quote, and when it comes to planning your wedding, it really is good advice.

When you decide to get married and begin to research wedding planning, the amount of information about how to plan the 'perfect' wedding day is overwhelming.

Before long, you can end up with a list of 'to do's' that includes things you didn't even know you needed or wanted!

The best antidote for wedding overwhelm is sitting down together and thinking about what it is you REALLY want from you wedding day. Not what you think you should want or should have, or what other people want you to have, but what matters to you.

How you celebrate your love should be YOUR idea of the perfect day - not someone else's.

Follow your heart and stay true to yourselves... and you won't go far wrong 💛

** QUESTION **

Do we need to include favours at our wedding? This is a question we are asked a lot.

The answer is of course, it's up to you, but there are things we would advise when choosing wedding favours if you decide to include them...

1) Favours are very often left behind and this is such a waste! Choose favours that are edible or genuinely useful, as these are less likely to be forgotten. TIP - consider guest allergies if opting for edible favours

2) Try and be as sustainable as possible - wedding favours that can be recycled are a great idea, as are options that support the planet e.g. a small plant that can be enjoyed or re-gifted if the guest isn't green-fingered!

3) Choose something homemade or produced by a local/small supplier - this is a thoughtful and supportive choice. Favours that double up as place cards save on additional cost and paper too.

Ultimately, your guests will be thrilled to be invited and really don't expect a present.

Why not make a small donation to charity and let your guests know you chose this instead of expensive favours? 💛

** SECRET ** wedding day hack for all your lovely couples marrying with young children!

Lots of our fabulous couples are a little anxious about getting married with little ones, especially when it comes to the wedding ceremony.

A tip that we find really helps is to bring with you a little drawstring bag with a small collection of toys that they haven't seen before! Give them the bag just before the ceremony to take in with them - and they will happily explore the contents whilst you say your vows.

Choose things you know they'll love (whether they're into dinosaurs, trains or unicorns) but leave at home anything with sound effects... a harmonica is best avoided!

Bubbles might seem like a great idea but these are best kept for later on (and outside) as they make floors sooooo slippery. and bouncy balls can cause havoc too!

One of the most fun gifts we've seen is a small toy camera, brilliant for keeping little ones busy and engaged, as they love to role play being a wedding photographer 💛
