Straight from our pastry chef’s Iulia's kitchen to yours.

Follow the recipe below and enjoy the scones you love at Ansty Hall, fresh from your own oven.

1kg flour
55g baking powder
225g unsalted butter
170g icing sugar
5 medium eggs
285g Buttermilk
1 tsp Vanilla essence
150g chosen fruit
1 medium egg for egg wash

1. Breadcrumb the butter, flour, baking powder and sugar together.
2. Mix the eggs, buttermilk and vanilla essence together.
3. Pour the liquid into the dry ingredients, ( If you want to have fruit scones add the fruit now) mix on a low speed until combined.
4. Turn the speed up and mix for 3 minutes.
5. Take the dough out and knead for a minute, then place back in the mixing bowl, cover the bowl with a tea towel and leave for 20 minutes.
6. Roll out to a 2 cm deep and use a cutter to cut the scones out of the dough.
7. Make an egg wash and then egg wash the scones.
8. Leave to rest for 45 minutes.
9. Pre-heat the oven at 165c.
10. Bake for 15 minutes.
11. Enjoy!
