"To love and be loved is to feel the sun from both sides. It's the warmth that fills your soul, the light that guides your way, and the comfort that surrounds you. Together, you are each other's sunshine and shelter."💍💒

There is so much light and excitement in the wedding photos of Millie & James. The romantic and festive joy emanating from these pictures gives us some FOMO.

Spotted in the Enchanted Gardens of Lympne Castle. The romantic Forget Me Not- better known by her government name, Myosotis Sylvatica

But what makes this flower an agent of love and romance? Well, there is a legend that comes from Germany about a knight who died trying to get the flowers for his lover and called out with his last breath...”Forget me not!”

The plant was popular in French and German gardens for centuries and gained popularity in English gardens in the 1800s. Visitors and anthophiles alike can find these blue beauties between spring and early summer.

Our garden is blessed with hundreds of species of plants and flowers, keep an eye out for our posts to learn more about the

This bright orange and woody-scented fleur has petals that can be eaten in soups, meat, egg and rice dishes. They have a peppery flavour which can be used to enhance the flavour of your favourite dish. Be sure to pick some of these on your next foraging adventure.

Did you know that before 1840, wearing a white wedding dress was not a bride's first choice? Although some royal brides wore white on their big day before 1840, it was Queen Victoria’s wedding to Prince Albert that cemented “White” as the official colour of Western and European nuptials.

Before its rise in popularity, it was common for European and American brides to wear a selection of many different colours. Blue, yellow, black and grey were considered practical and elegant.

Pretty cool right?

We have been lucky to host many weddings here at Lympne Castle and we have seen some pretty amazing cakes! Check out these unique ones from past couples 🎂💍.

1. This delicious and aesthetically pleasing 3-tier cake belongs to Rebecca and Julian. They just celebrated their one-year anniversary💞

2. This floral and fruit-decorated cake belongs to the lovely Maddy & Ray. It looks pretty and very decadent.

Did you know the origin of the "First Dance" dates back to 17th-century Europe?

During that era, formal balls were quite popular, and it was expected that the honoured guest (usually the individual with the highest social status among the attendees) would initiate the inaugural dance.

The more you know 🌈⭐️

👑 Royal Wedding Cakes 🎂!

Which Royal couple do you think had the best cake?

1. Princess Kate Middleton and Prince William. Flavour: eight tiers of traditional fruit cake.

2. Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank. Flavour: five tiers of red velvet.

3. Prince Rainier III of Monaco and Grace Kelly. Flavour: unsure but it was 6 tiers, so it must have been tasty. Also, two turtledoves were released from the top two tiers during the ceremonial cutting of the cake. So points for entertainment?

4. Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip. Flavour: 500 pounds of traditional fruit cake, covered in marzipan and topped with royal icing.
