When I launched Unite in April 2023, I had no idea how it would be received, I just knew there were not enough social events for our wonderful community..

Over a year later, each month 70 or more adults with learning difficulties or disabilities join us and dance the night away.

Without the amazing team of volunteers, who have helped set things up, entertained our guests and tidied away, these nights could not happen.

I am proud to say that Unite is now a fully fledged CIC which means we can raise funds for more events!

Thank you to volunteer Mel for submitting the paperwork and the team for supporting this amazing venture.

I would also like to thank East Kent Mencap for joining us and supporting this great monthly event.

* News from Square Pegs Arts *

Following the success of last year's Kent Album project, we at Square Pegs Arts are launching our new Music Ambassadors 2.0 programme and are seeking a handful of young learning disabled, autistic or neurodivergent people between the ages of 16 and 25 to join the team.

The group will meet once a month to work on various projects in workshops with industry professionals which will allow them to gain experience and take lead roles in all areas of the music industry from music production, event planning, promoting a professional release, live events, marketing and lots more. We'll also plan trips and music industry experiences for the group.

This will run alongside our wider music programme so they will have real-life hands-on experience of events and projects that will contribute to helping other young people as well as meeting new friends and gaining confidence. It will be great for their CVs too!
