Although every celebration is different; when I begin planning weddings for my clients, I will always focus on these main elements:

- Your Budget
- Your Wedding Design
- Your Ceremony
- Your Reception Marquee or Venue

The budget is the most important of them all, as nothing else can happen if funds aren't allocated appropriately. A quick Google search will bring up multiple examples of how much of your budget you should be spending on different parts of your wedding - but I will always create a budget breakdown to specifically align with the priorities for each individual couple.

Hello!

I thought I'd say a quick hi to everyone as somehow it is the new year already! I hope that 2025 has got off to a good start for you all? I think I've finally eaten all of the Christmas chocolate!

For those of you who don't know me, I'm Evie and I run The Country Blush; specialising in planning country weddings and celebrations in marquees or dry hire venues.

I live in Kent with my family and our cocker spaniel, Lottie, who you will often see on my social media. I'm originally from East Sussex, but headed East when I met my husband and have settled in this part of the beautiful Kent countryside.

I will continue to share my knoweldge, inspire and connect with you across social media throughout 2025 🤍

Congratulations on your engagement! Now, where to start?!

I would recommend grabbing a G&T and sitting down with your partner to discuss the following:

1. How long do you want your engagement to be? Do you have a date in mind? Or a particular season?

2. Where would you like to get married? Where you currently live? Where you grew up? A tropical destination?

3. What type of ceremony would you like? A religious ceremony? Celebrant led? Registrar?

4. Will you need to find a separate reception venue? Or somewhere to host celebrations for the evening before or brunch the following day?

5. What is your wedding budget? Include any contributions from family (now is the time to have the awkward conversations, to save any confusion in the future!)

6. Think about your guest list. Are you inviting everyone you know? Are you having evening guests? Would you rather an intimate celebration?

7. Once you have an idea of the above, then you can start researching marquee styles or venues.

Happy New Year (well nearly)!

2024 has been a bit of a different year for me, having welcomed my second child back in March. I knew that I didn’t want to take on too much this season as I didn’t want to let any of my clients down. However, I’ve had the absolute pleasure of working alongside so many fantastic planners this year instead.

When Xavier was 10 weeks old, I was back at weddings! I’ve assisted Laura and Lydia with a handful of weddings this year; I’ve also run weddings on behalf of Antonia and a couple for Laura .

From the Marlborough Downs in Wiltshire to beautiful venues in Surrey and Kent; I’ve thoroughly enjoyed every wedding this season and am so grateful to these amazing planners for trusting me to run their clients’ celebrations on their behalf.

And not forgetting the most amazing wedding in September for my one and only clients of 2024! I cannot wait to share with you more about their special day; it was filled with personal touches and fantastic surprises. When you only take on one client in a season, you need to make it a good one, and (wow!) did Charlie and Nicole’s day deliver!

When I say that your day will run smoothly, I don’t mean that everything will go exactly as planned (it never does!).

Things will inevitably go off schedule, complications will pop up; but when you hire me, you know that I will be there on the day sorting these minor blips in the background, without you, or your guests, even realising.

Christmas hours

With it being our first Christmas as a family of five (you can’t forget Lottie!), I’m going to be popping the out of office on from today, until Tuesday 7th January.

I’ve not really taken any official maternity leave since having Xavier, so I’m taking the opportunity over Christmas to let my scheduled content do it’s thing whilst I am celebrating with my family.

You can guarantee that I will be eating plenty of chocolate and other yummy treats, as well as taking a ridiculous amount of photos of the children (that won’t make it on to social media, but will be printed in my 23+ photo albums that I’ve been making since Jamie and I first got together!)

I hope that you all have a lovely Christmas! To all the newly engaged couples, enjoy the moment and don’t worry about the planning until the New Year! To fellow suppliers, I hope that you have the break you all need/deserve!

Five things to consider when planning a party:

1. Having plenty of delicious food and drinks
2. Booking live music to entertain your guests
3. Choosing a theme/dress code for your guests
4. Hiring a photographer/videographer to capture the celebrations
5. Sending practical information to your guests in advance (e.g. pre-booking taxis)

Planning a party is very different to a wedding; however, you still need to consider the guest experience from before they arrive, until they’re back home!

Children at your wedding

Firstly, you need to sit down with your partner and work out what children, if any, you want to invite to your wedding.

You could decide to:
- have no children at your wedding at all - make sure that you decide if you're saying no under 12s, under 16s etc.

- have your own child/children only – ensure you have an allocated person (or even better - a nanny) looking after them throughout the day.

- only have family children - be clear on whether that is direct relatives of the couple (nieces/nephews) or if this is going to include wider relatives.

- have children in the bridal party and no others. It’s often done at Royal Weddings; for example, Prince George and Princess Charlotte were at Harry and Meghan’s wedding, but Prince Louis wasn’t.

- only include babes in arms, as they won't need a specific seat/catering; or you might have only older children who are walking/mobile.

- invite everyone's children - you should consider a separate room for them with hired in nannies to watch/entertain them.

Whatever you choose to do, make sure that you’re both happy with the decision and that you're clear with your guests from early on - parents will need some time to sort childcare/sort arrangements for bringing them to your wedding.
Don't be afraid to stand your ground with your decision and don't feel like you have to keep explaining yourself - most people will respect your decision.

The Country Blush Values

Having trained with, and later becoming a member of, I have always upheld my belief that as a planner I will not take commission.

To me it is simple. My couples trust me to find the best suppliers for them, they have paid me for this service. They wouldn’t expect me to be choosing suppliers based on how much commission I could earn.

Although doesn’t operate anymore, I will continue to refuse commission; instead requesting that the discount is passed on directly to my clients.

When you hire me to plan your wedding or celebration, you can trust that I’m choosing suppliers based on their credentials and suitability for your bespoke requirements.

Family connections

For me, weddings are all about the couple and the celebration of their marriage with their loved ones. It’s always an honour to be chosen by clients to help them with such an important celebration. I love getting to know them throughout the process, but also their closest family and friends.

When you’re choosing a planner to help you with your wedding at home, it’s so important that they also work well alongside your family. It’s a delicate balance between the couples’ wishes and respecting those of much-loved family members – especially if they’re hosting the celebrations.

Top Tip - Musicians When it comes to booking musicians for your wedding day, make sure that you consider the logistics of their set-up. Are there steps? Will they need to pull instruments across the grass? When will they be setting up? Will it be too noisy during speeches? Consider having your musicians set up earlier on in the day, so that they are there and ready for when you are! Top Tip - Set-Up and De-Rig Make sure that whilst you're booking your suppliers, you find out key information about when they will set-up and when they will be there to collect items. There is a logistical order that things need to be done in, when it comes to a marquee wedding; and having this information from the start will allow you to have a clear idea of what is happening and when. Top Tip - Electrics Make sure that you check with your suppliers about their power requirements, well in advance - how much do the need, how will they connect etc? If you don't have a production team on site throughout your wedding; then I recommend hiring a band who use a separate sound engineer (who isn't performing), so that they can sort out any isses, should they arise.
