Hello all.

After Christmas The Case of the Curious Bride will cease to sell wedding dresses.

All reasons are in my video, it’s a sensible decision to move on at this time in my life.

I don’t want to hear ‘it’s a shame,” it’s not, it’s a well thought-out decision based on my life and the costs of running bridal retail right now.

My example of rising costs would be that, before Brexit it would cost me around £35 to courier ten of my dresses to the UK from Europe. This now costs between £700-£2,000 in import and customs charges and I haven’t been passing that on to my customers because it was such a leap.

Energy costs are up too (as you all know) and I have personal circumstances adding to the decision.

Please listen to my video before asking any questions but all are welcome.

All orders and alterations are still in the diary right up to the end of 2024.

I am keeping on the premises for my next venture and Curious Bride will shrink down to headwear and accessory sales, online.

It’s not goodbye until Christmas so I’ll save that until then.

Sale starts Tuesday, all dresses to go and I can still honour all dress orders until then too.

It’s that time of year when the opportunity to purchase your wedding dress at greatly reduced cost is GO!

We’ve decided to do it completely differently this year and offer the sample sale over a two week period instead of just one day/weekend.

Appointments are also an hour long but still free of charge.

Please only book the Sample Sale Appointment option over the availability, on dates from Saturday 17th June - Saturday 1st July.

One guest is permitted per sale appointment and the same high level of friendly and experienced service will be given. 😊 Thank you.

Sizes 6-32 and a great range of styles available.

Blush bridal Alice band with Swarovski pearls. Completed today.

I’ve sold so many of my headwear samples straight off the shelf in the last few weeks that I am working to restock in between alterations.

I’ll get this design on one of my lovely models soon so you can see it in its glory. It’s a paired-down version of my Galaxy Alice Band.

I do prefer a 12 week lead time for my accessories orders as they are all handmade by me but I will let my samples go to my brides if they decided they want something at the last minute (which quite often happens! 🤣)

Busy day catching up with current brides for alterations and meeting a lovely new bride, Nicola and her bridal party for a VIP appointment.

Erin is now sent off happy and twirly, ready for her wedding and Nicky is on final tweaks with her dress design.

It’s worth thinking about our VIP appointment if you have four guests to your fitting as they get to be entertained with lovely cakes and Nosecco or tea and coffee, while I get you into some lovely dresses.

Throwback Thursday

Here's one from the vaults that was a REAL favourite with us and with our brides; Claire by Johanna Hehir.

Johanna's style was so unique. When we first opened we knew she was the one designer we definitely had to have and you agreed!

Johanna is retired from Bridal now and works on bringing textile skills to young women in New Zealand and working on the Eco production of period-wear on her Danu Natural label.
