How lucky am I?!! Last week I had the good fortune to be at the Master Chefs of Great Britain inaugural Scottish Sustainable Lunch , where the level of expertise, innovation and presentation was outstanding. Last night I had the privilege to dine at the recently opened Lalique Restaurant in the Glenturret Distillery near Crieff. I have already used superlatives to describe the MCGB lunch - which ones do I have left to comment on the dinner. The level of innovation, food and flavour combinations was outstanding! I am only posting photos of two dishes as my photography did not do justice to the presentation, much better that you enjoy the whole experience when you book!! This is truly a fabulous experience - well done to the whole team and don't forget to visit the Lalique shop - simply stunning!!

The heather on the hills is in full bloom, and it looks stunning but to me it heralds the start of a change in the season. As a chef my thoughts turn to game, firstly grouse - delicious served with chanterelles in cream and sherry. Then in September partridge followed by pheasant and duck. All game requires careful preparation and cooking but it is truly delicious and worth the effort.

Loved finding these on my hill walk yesterday - nothing more special than foraged food for a chef! Scottish blaeberries or the wortleberry if you read Roald Dahl stories! Always a treat to find and yes, these didn't make it to the bottom of the hill - but I can assure you they were delicious!
