Hey everyone , how were your Xmas meals ? I’ve had some great reviews on you desserts by The Baking Lab Devon , it was the only thing I could manage and the cherry brownie was melt in your mouth divine ! Thankyou Francesca for patterning with me this year x

I was too tired to have anything so now a bad chef as I’m not quite sure what I sent out .

Did anyone take photos eating together?

I know some are not having it till later too .. so hope they made freezers happily . And the free treats anybody see those ?

So on the business end , if anyone battles through this pea souper of a day , I have made a few dishes about to go into freezer :

Chicken tikka masala ,mangalore chicken, Gujarati chicken, king prawn dhansak , chicken bhuna , butter chicken , dhal , rice ,

Ready to go for dinner tonight :-) x

I’ll leave them out for a little while before they go into freezers x

Christmas prep is officially underway here – a bit like Santa’s reindeer warming up… just with more spice and less sleigh bells 🎄

Please take a moment to admire these two innocent-looking pastes made this morning (who said curries are brown !) . Two solid hours grinding my spices and herbs to get here, and worth every minute. One gloriously green, one deep festive red.

The green is fresh, herby and vibrant – going into my Punjabi Hariyali chicken, marinated with juicy chicken thighs.
The red is rich, warming and comforting – destined for a beautiful Kashmiri lamb maas dish.

There’s also a green coconut chutney heading into the veg Mangalore. These were not the most popular dishes (should have marketed better) , but they’re the ones I’m quietly pinning my hopes on to really wow , my showcase dishes this year - not to be seen again !

So if you’ve ordered a Christmas special – I’m here, working hard for you.
If you haven’t – I’m still here, working hard… because yes, I also made curries today after announcing I was on my Christmas break 🙈

That’s the trouble with having work at home. You want to please people. So you keep going.
I actually caught myself in the kitchen at 3am last night. Slightly mad, right?

It will all be wrapped up by Friday though, and then I really will take my break . I can’t wait to hear feedback from those trying the new dishes – that’s the best part.

Holidays are coming, holidays are coming 🎶

And just a reminder: the freezer is crammed full of curries right now. I’m taking two and a half weeks off, so it’s first come, first served. When they’re gone, they’re gone.

You have to laugh at yourself ! Let’s just say I’m never going to make an artist !

However , who ever thought that so much design would go in a salad /katchumber otherwise seen as a bit on the side !

No! It’s an integral part in my head and indeed on my guest table And so carefully designed fir textures and tastes .. well let’s hope it looks better than this blue mess - channelling my 5 year old artistry x

This is only one 8 components in my Xmas special .. I’ve actually got someone in just to hand chop for all 57 x she has more finesse than I !

Well, what a day! 🌧️ Rain, rain, rain… go away, come back another day.
While it’s been absolutely soaking outside – and most sensible people have been curled up watching Netflix – I thought I’d be clever / industrious and cook .
you’d think it was a busman’s holiday but oh no . 😅 Let’s just say it’s been a day of ups and downs in the kitchen. I’ll pop the “down” in the comments so know I’m human !

But first… QUIZ TIME! 🎉 We haven’t done one of these for ages.

These are Indian shortbread biscuits – but does anyone know what they’re called and the two special ingredients that make them truly Indian? 👀
This is a little experiment for my Christmas special. After today’s rollercoaster I’m done testing – next week I’ll be making them for real and all my experimental dishes for real ! Yikes I’m nervous. And yes… the Xmas deal was SOLD OUT in November (as I can only cook so much) . If you’re in, you’re in. If you’re not… well, you’re not! 🙈✨

In the meantime, my freezers are still full of everything you could possibly want, so once the rain clears, please come and buy. My little enterprise only works with you behind it :-)
