At this time of year I love looking back at this simple wreath I created in Devon, just foraged foliage and little treasures and the beautiful silk ribbon! This marked the culmination of a wonderful week with some lovely folk spending our time with who lead us on our wedding floristry journey…..and this coming weekend I have my final wedding for 2023….

I created some farewell florals for a gentleman in our community this week, all the flowers and greenery are garden grown or British blooms. I used sustainable floristry methods, no floral foam.

Strutting my stuff at our Sustainable Church Flowers Event yesterday! We had lots of people come to hear about sustainable floristry, flower farming and the ecological impact of using single use plastics. Thank you to Fiona , Florence .miller and Wendy and our flower team who helped us decorate our beautiful medieval church.

I am an ambassador, along with for Sustainable Church Flowers, a national group hoping to encourage flower teams to move away from using floral floral foam and also to use locally grown, garden, churchyard flora for their arrangements. At our beautiful medieval church in Long Crendon, Buckinghamshire we are putting on a SCF morning with displays, demos, talks and discussion. As we approach Mothering Sunday it can be hard for so many, those who have lost their mum, those who are desperate to be a mum and with the commercial hype it’s difficult to avoid it. I know I am so lucky to be a mum to four sons whom I adore… and I miss my own mum every day….

There is light, there is hope, spring is on the way……what a cold snowy week! The birds are singing, there are still snowdrops, hellebores, crocus, pulmonaria, little daffodils in bloom and tulips and fritillary peeping up….and blossom in the garden , around the village and in the hedgerows.
