Introducing Sergeant Harper!

Dave, our talented Maintenance Manager, has long dreamed of creating a nutcracker that would be the perfect fit for Notley Abbey. One afternoon, while discussing a new project with our Head of People, Tanja, in the greenhouses, he spotted a large water butt among other materials — and that’s when Sergeant Harper was born.

With the head created by an upturned flowerpot, the water butt being used as the body, pipes for arms, and hands made of rubber gloves with expanding foam (our very own rendition of Frosty the Snowman), Dave poured his creativity into building this whimsical masterpiece over the course of a week and a half.

Since his debut, Sergeant Harper has become quite the star, with wedding guests and the Notley Abbey team alike posing for photos alongside him. We can't thank Dave enough for all the time and care he put into crafting such a unique and festive figure that has made this Christmas season even more special ✨
