TULIPs - End is Season FINALE - TREAT yourself on this World Earth 🌍
Day.

🌷If you've never experienced the difference between British grown Tulips and those you get from the supermarket - you are missing a TREAT πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

🌷I've got later bloomers of Menton (coral/pink) and Elegant Lady, creamy with Pink edge) and if course my favorite Gorilla (deep deep purple) that are just perfect this week.

Love it when your customer says can you revamp my Christmas Wreath to a Winter themed one - so that's what I did.

1) Loosen any old dead foliages, replace with hard wearing box, ivy leaves and berries and oleaster.

2) Add dried strawflowers, pampas, thistle and twigs and a new ribbon on one.

3) Place back on door to admire until time for Spring and Easter wreaths πŸ’š

Flowers From The Farm

🩷 Flower Farmers Big Weekend - Sunday 10th September 🩷

πŸ’š Well to say I was nervous was an understatement - but I pulled it off with lots of help from some special ladies and of course my other half who I'd be lost without ❀️

πŸ’š The β˜” came down at exactly the time I was due to start, been glorious weather all week and just as I'm starting the heavens opened - you couldn't write it! πŸ˜†

πŸ’š The rain petered off and I had a steady flow of visitors and we raised Β£200.00 for the , so it wasn't all bad

πŸ’š Anyway we had a great time talking all things flowers and shared knowledge on growing from seed, the hand tied chat went ahead with Katie Mason and she she was delighted with her bouquet πŸ’

πŸ’š So all in all a successful day

Thanks again to all you helped from setting up to clearing up - I couldn't have done it without you all πŸ’š - you should all be proud x

πŸ’™ If anyone else who couldn't attend would like to donate there's a link below πŸ’™ Thank You

πŸ’š How to Become the Person You Want to Be - my first 5 steps

1. Take some time to understand yourself and decide to make a few changes - try a new hobby or something you've always wanted to do - you're the only one who can make change.

2. Find your why - what do you want in life, peace? Happiest? To be Healthy or Rich? I don't know about the last one here but I do know you become rich if you can achieve the first 3 questions.

3. Work at what you'd like to become and try to understand your values - Write down your dreams or ambitions - For me it was to grow my own flowers in a fully sustainable way and reduce my imported flowers as a florist.

4. Find time to implement those changes - I went on a seed to vase course to learn how I could do that.

5. Enjoy your new found freedom and let go of your guilt and frustrations - I now grow most of my own flowers to use in my orders and sell locally but I can't grow everything, (took me 3 years to realise that) so I stopped worrying about it and now buy from others locally, that do grow the things I can't. You have to learn to adapt and sometimes this is a slow process - just learn to enjoy the journey πŸ™

Flowers from the Farm members are set to open the gates to their plots on 8th-10th September for the fifth anniversary of the Flower Farmers’ Big Weekend. The open farm festival will showcase the benefits and realities of small-scale flower farming and feature plot
tours, floristry workshops and Pick Your Own flower sessions on dozens of independent flower farms across the country. The annual event has helped fuel the remarkable growth of Flowers from the Farm over the past five years, inspiring hundreds of people to pick up a trowel, follow their flower farming dream and start growing for market.
Whether you’ve seen Flowers from the Farm this year on BBC Countryfile, at RHS Shows or
admired the flower arrangements at the Coronation, nothing beats a visit to a local grower.
Every flower farm is independent and differs in how and where they grow. The Flower Farmers’ Big Weekend gives visitors the chance to explore walled gardens, allotments, farmland or cutting gardens and pick up tips from the growers who are revolutionising cut flower growing in the UK. Flower farmers value the changing of the seasons and the characterful beauty of every stem. Staging the lower Farmers’ Big Weekend at the later time of September this year shines a spotlight on the best late summer blooms. Expect to see cutting beds of phlox, larkspur, nigella, lilies, asters, echinacea, snapdragons, cornflowers, agapanthus, echinops, knipofia, chrysanthemums, stocks, sedums and, of course, dahlias. Dahlia Mania will be in full swing on every flower farm in September with rows of the dramatic, show-stopping blooms from small pompom dahlias to plate-sized decorative varieties in a spectacular range
of colours from white and blush to the deepest, darkest purples and reds.

Local to Aylesbury / Bucks? - Why not come along to my Plot - 10th Sept 2023 - Meet your Local Grower of British Blooms - Debbie - Pick some Dahlias and make up a jam jar to take home or book a Hand tied slot - 07932 606536 πŸ₯°

SEDUM Spectibile

This is one of my favourite Hardy Perennials - popping out of the soil in early January and growing steadily throughout the Spring and Summer flowering in Sept/Oct.

It grows to about 60cm so is a great cutting later flower - it is really tough and strong and can be user a little earlier as a greenery filler before the flat starry florettes turn bright pink. Theres is also a beautiful white version called ICEBERG which I will definately be adding to my garden or field this autumn.

It makes a lovely dry seed head too for Winter interest if not cut, giving over wintering to insects too.

They survive well in unfertile soil and are slug resistent - so an all round good hardy plant and I wouldnt do without it.

WHATS YOUR FAVOURITE PERENIAL PLANT? 😍
