Welcome to the Moat Ponds - now with added (un-named) pergola! This is one of our freshly-ratified ceremony locations which we're hoping will host its first ceremony at the end of May - assuming it isn't raining and the plant life hasn't grown into a 6' jungle blocking the view.
Space for seating on the bank opposite the pergola isn't huge, so it's a location better-suited to the smaller guest list... and, of course, those romantic post-ceremony "couple" photos πΈ

Romantic small June Wedding
Second attempt at posting an offering from Silver Pear Wobblyscope Films (no clue what happened first time around).
A quick-ish walk-through of a wedding breakfast reception set out in the Garden Room then out to the Maude Pergola under the blossom-covered laburnum (my very-least favourite colour ever but...) all set up for a hand-fasting ceremony. A quiet and cloudy moment on a perfect, sunny June day just before the cake (spot the empty stand) and everyone else arrived...
With the fountain in the background, I am going to say that it has to be one of the most romantic and picturesque locations for a ceremony... now the amended rules means it can finally host a legal ceremonies... I already know of one bride who'll be thrilled...

Even though every Facebook feed just about everywhere is teeming with #CoVid19 posts I am about to add to them as, having been contacted by a couple of brides already, there may be more of you with concerns about a forthcoming wedding.
Quite simply, we're suggesting watching and waiting: watching how things progress and waiting to see whether restrictions on larger gatherings are broadened to include events such as weddings. As our official season starts quite late (the end of May) the majority of our weddings are concentrated in June & July which may, possibly, be just far enough ahead for any restrictions that may be about to be imposed now to be lightened or even lifted.
One of our May brides (thank you, Lauren) contacted Oxfordshire Registrars and reported back that their current position is "business as usual" until they are instructed otherwise. Having said that... if a couple (or their venue) decide postponement is essential (I imagine this is mire for really imminent weddings) they will transfer a ceremony booking to another date just once without charge - with their recommendation that the new/ back-up date should be significantly further into 2020 or, even, 2021 - as any further moves would be subject to the registrars' usual charges.
So far one couple have opted to reserve a back-up date, if this begins to look necessary for other couples we do still have a few available dates this year. Our feeling is, currently, the same: business as usual unless there are definite directives to the contrary.
It's unknown and unsettling territory certainly for the many small businesses involved in the wedding industry (who may struggle to survive if quarantining happens for any length of time) and difficult, too, for 2020 couples eagerly anticipating their "big day" which is now under a dark cloud so if you are reading this and feeling uneasy do get in touch...
And while all of this is going on I watched this tubby little bee bumbling around the hyacinths obliviou
The only thing one we can't control, just plan for: rain... and today it is most definitely raining so our ceremony will most definitely be inside... so... I thought it would be worth sharing a photo of how that works...
A new venture for the boys from #SoundWaveAudio - not just lighting installations, no... now with added "Dog Toy Rescue" - a vital service for distressed canines. Nelson was utterly thrilled to be reunited with his favourite toy - he'd say "thank you" but is too busy chasing himself round the garden...
And with lanterns already up for this Saturday's wedding... more "wannabe-drone" footage of last weekend's wedding lanterns - this time with a fairy lights canopy...
(And a friend has suggested a gizmo that might improve/ reduce the "wobbly-scope" quality - I shall be investigating... when it's a bit quieter...)

This could become a regular thing - my weekly practice pretending to be a drone! Last weekend's lovely barn reception featuring our third floral chandelier but the very first time domestic white goods have featured as part of the wedding dΓ©cor...

So here I am attempting to impersonate a drone whilst negotiating stairs and avoiding chairs and low-flying tea-light holders... but... enough to give, I hope, an impression of Louise and Mark's very lovely barn last weekend. And yes, there could be video from this weekend too...
Very definitely one wedding day when an outdoor ceremony wasn't in the slightest doubt... so with the chairs already set out I thought "why not film the last part of the walk..."

With our broadband crawling along, presumably from the heat (as I can't think of a better excuse) i'm hoping "third time lucky" with posting this longer clip of Saturday's barn...

As I'm hearing encouraging feedback about videos being "really useful/ helpful" I'll take more of them when I can... it's really helpful hearing things like that. So... little virtual tour round the cake & through the marquee extension then a spin round the cherry tree... although I forgot to add the pergola... still "practice makes perfect" though as charmingly wobbly as ever...
34Β° degrees apparently... certainly was hot! Still... knowing it really isn't going to rain does make planning so very much simpler... hence being able to hang the paper globe lanterns (from the #HangingLanternCompany) that feature in this next fine example of WobblyScope footage...
SilverScope, WobblyScope... this little clip is filmed in what we could call HiSpeedScope... as I've had a few positive responses to videos I'll try and shoot more.
So... Emma & Ben's celestial/ cosmos/stellar themed barn....
I took 3 or 4 walk-through videos at this stage of the set up this isn't the best one but I'm posting it purely for the little walk-on cameo appearance right at the very end...

Looking back at last weekend's wedding and thinking how important photos are... my 1st time assisting with wedding flowers but did I take one, single, photo of my handiwork? No... I didn't. But here's a taste of the rest of Laura and Will's understated "retro country" reception...

As we're not hosting a wedding today thought I'd share this WobblyScope footage from last weekend; the Maude Pergola is a popular location for couples taking the "personal" - rather than "legal" - route for their wedding ceremony...
