As well as having an exhibition stand at the GWCT Welsh Game Fair, the Carneddau Mountain Pony Society will give a demo in the main arena to show visitors how versatile and easy-going the diminutive ponies are.

TV farmer Gareth Wyn Jones is hosting our pop-up restaurant alongside Game and flames which is serving traditional Welsh breakfast and two-course lunch comprising of squirrel bonbons and venison. Also catch Gareth in the GWCT Countryside Conversations Theatre.

Ynys Twca bushcraft is running sessions which are open to adults and children aged over eight years old. Huw Jones will be teaching visitors how to make whistles out of elder, cherry and sycamore, as well as rope out of natural plant fibres such as nettles, brambles and bark plus spatulas using 100-year-old vintage tools and a shave horse from sycamore and ash.

The Main Arena has a jam-packed itinerary to ensure there’s always something to keep visitors entertained. The action includes educational demonstrations and thrilling displays, including wildfowler Chris Green, Bwyellwyr Clwyd Axemen and Welsh springer spaniels.

The GWCT Welsh Game Fair is the ideal event for families wanting to get kids off screens and doing something wholesome outdoors. Children can have-a-go at numerous activities including archery, fishing, airgun shooting, paintballing, clay shooting and gundog handling. Plus those aged under eight get free entry.

TV farmer Gareth Wyn Jones is hosting our pop-up restaurant called Cwtch Kitchen which will serve breakfast and lunch. Diners will also be treated to traditional Welsh music and the walls will be decorated with Welsh artwork and crafts. Also catch him in the GWCT Countryside Conversations Theatre.

The GWCT Welsh Game Fair is flying the flag for trail hunting! The Flint & Denbigh’s hunt will be parading today and tomorrow its Eryri hounds turn. Catch them in the main arena before inviting visitors to mingle with the hounds.

Hywel Morgan, the legendary Welsh fly fisherman, will be giving 30-minute demonstrations to talk about the history of angling where he shows equipment used over 200 years ago before casting with seven rods simultaneously to show how easy it is to cast distance with basic and specialist tackle.

Gundogs are a focal point of the GWCT Welsh Game Fair. Today there will be an open retriever test with a top prize of £100 up for grabs, and on both days the exciting Four Nations International returns for a third and final round, after rounds one and two were contested at the GWCT Scottish Game Fair and The Game Fair respectively. The Four Nations International sees spaniel and retriever teams from Scotland, England, Ireland and Wales compete head-to-head, with prizes on offer for top retriever, top spaniel and top dog as well as for the winning team.

Her Majesty The Queen 1926 - 2022 The GWCT Welsh Game Fair team are saddened by the passing of Her Majesty The Queen and extend our condolences to the Royal Family. The GWCT Welsh Game Fair will be celebrating the life of Her Majesty The Queen at the opening day tomorrow with a Gun Salute in her memory at 10am in the grounds of The Vaynol Estate near Bangor. Visitors and exhibitors are welcome to join in remembrance and observe the two minutes silence following the salute. Her Majesty’s passion and support for conservation and the countryside will be remembered and celebrated over the next three days of The GWCT Welsh Game Fair. Over the years of her reign she visited the estate on many occasions and her legacy will be remembered by many. The GWCT confirmed King Charles as its Patron earlier this year. His support and commitment will be felt throughout this weekend as we reflect on a lifetime of hard work, support and profound guidance.
