OUR NEW LOOK

So here it is our brand new signage for the shop?

Who knew how much would go into getting us to this point, but have been holding our hand for the last couple of months helping us to really understand how we’re viewed by you our customers and formulating a brand strategy that truly understands who we are, tells our story and helps us to understand what it is that you love about the shop, allowing us to connect and market ourselves with more like minded customers.

Many insightful focus groups and customer telephone interviews later this is the Brand Narrative that have arrived at and I think it’s pretty spot on – what do you think?

…There’s a florist on the High Street in Banstead. There’s a lifestyle and homewares store, social hub, gin appreciation society, and village telegraph too. They’re all at the same address, all open pretty much every day, but all far from every day. Stocked with the most beautiful local blooms and staffed by the loveliest people, Mad Lilies is already a village institution. It’s as different each day as the people who come in through the door, as fresh as the flowers delivered from the best growers and as full of joy as the shelves packed full of must have homewares. The original inspirational florist Lily was the grandmother of the current founder. Two generations later, the current Lily doesn’t share the name but she does have the same passion for beautiful blooms, artisan creativity, delighted customers and a bit of cheeky chat.

The next chapter is well and truly underway and we still have so much more to share with you all, so watch this space …

New Signage Incoming

Finally tomorrow we get our new signage and we’re super excited. We’ve been working with a fabulous Belfast design agency Pale Blue Dot on our new branding for our store which we are very excited to share with you over the coming months as we start to implement into our signage, packaging and marketing and which we hope to have rolled out fully by September.

Its taken us time to get just right and we are incredibly grateful for all the feedback from you our customers via telephone interviews and customer surveys which has allowed us to gain a greater insight into how you view Mad Lilies and more importantly how we need to position ourselves and communicate with you going forward. So lots to come over the coming weeks and months as we journey into our next chapter, we hope you love as much as we do.

Last week we received a gorgeous brief to create table centre pieces for an Alice in Wonderland party. So we got to work and created these mini gardens of Delphinium, Scabiosa, scented Stocks, Dahlias, Craspedia and Waxflower to place in the centre of each table. What do you think?

Many of you’ve asked for us to put together a perfect Teachers Gift so we’ve teamed up our pretty box set of three Garden Trading recycled glass bottles and filled them with pretty Daisy Tanacetum finishing off with a cute Thank You Card.
Surely this beats the unoriginal box of chocs and is worthy of a gold star from that favourite teacher this term.

IN THIS WEEKS NEWS

We made it to the sunny side of the street and opened our doors at Nos 127 on Thursday to glorious sunshine, so much so we had to do a dash to the garden centre to get a parasol as our new awning is not going up till next week.
We have been genuinely overwhelmed and want to thank each and every one of you for coming to visit and supporting us in our next chapter in our new home.
Your wonderful feedback, words of support, encouragement, cards and champagne have been the perfect tonic for a very tired team who have worked their socks off in the last month to make this move possible, so we want you to know we really do appreciate it.
And finally we know we may look like the shop with no name at the moment but we hope to get our new signage up in the next couple of weeks, just as soon as we finalising our new branding.
Many of you completed our survey, took part in focus groups and telephone interviews about Mad Lilies, telling us what you loved about the shop, areas of the business we could look to improve, potential brands you think would be a good fit for us and also told us if Mad Lilies was a celebrity who you think we would be (this particular answer made for very interesting reading!)
All this feedback is invaluable and being used to help us develop our new shop branding and develop how we will market ourselves and communicate with everyone going forward. And we hope to share with you very soon, so watch this space.

It’s our last day at Nos 84

If the walls of this building could talk - Oh the stories they would tell. It feels like no time at all since I walked in to view the shop to buy which is in fact over 13 years ago. The memories have all started flooding back of all the times the team and I have shared here and with you our wonderful customers. There are a million happy memories locked away that will serve me a lifetime but it will be with a tear in my eye when I close the door tonight and bid farewell and say thank you to Nos 84 this wonderful building we have called home.

And then we will be onto our next chapter as we open the doors of Nos 127 on Thursday.

Thank you everyone for joining us on the journey so far …. I think the best may be just about to come 🤞

The End is in touching distance ….
So we reckon we’ve got the 100 metre sprint tomorrow to get over the finishing line and by Thursday we’ll finally open our doors to you in our brand new premises at 127 High Street, Banstead.

We cannot wait to share with you this wonderful space that we’ve created - all we need now is our Nos 1 ingredient the flowers and they’ve assured us they’ll be with us bright and early Thursday 🌺

We love a great card and so do you, because you tell us all the time when you come in store especially our beautiful range which is undoubtedly everyone’s favourite.

Rose season is really ramping up a level now as warmer days are on the horizon which means the varieties of roses we can souce increases. So we were c**k a hoop when these ‘Westminster Abbey’ Roses showed up at auction this week which we teamed up with one of our all time favourite Roses ‘Sweet Avalanche’ and ‘Majolica’ Tea Roses. Very excited now for all the varieties we’re now going to have coming through the flower auction each week so stay tuned ….

Quick heads up….
We’ll be open from 10am this morning through to 3pm and the good news is we’ve had a fresh flower delivery this morning as many of you know we completely sold out yesterday. Our delivery slots are pretty much full now but we could potentially squeeze a couple of local deliveries in, if you call the shop after 10am
Our website has now been updated with the bouquets now available which you can order for click & collect or you can pop in as we have a shop full of florists busy busy busy getting bouquets made up for you lovely lot. Stock is limited so once it’s gone it’s gone but we also have lovely planters, candles, cards and homeware gifts also available.

REPURPOSING
Is always a good idea and ensures your flowers and budget are working super hard for you. The ceremony is obviously the most important part of your day it’s where you say ‘I Do’ after all. Even if it’s only 45 minutes of your day - the flowers, the backdrop, the memories are absolutely key to be caught on camera.
The main part of your day and where your guests will spend the majority of their time will be the reception, so it is ideal if you can repurpose your ceremony flowers to this space. For Kelly & Dan we repurposed the living aisle from the ceremony to the marquee to dress the the ends of the long tables and the urns of tumbling flowers from the front of the ceremony were placed at entrance to the marquee to welcome guests as they entered.
Repurposing can be a faff and not all florists will offer this option as it requires a team to stay on site until after the ceremony to get everything moved around. We will always offer this option to you and encourage the reuse of as many flowers as possible, as where there’s a will there’s a way.
