TIPI WEDDINGS....
..are still one of my favourite things. There's something so special about their unique look and feel. They are so versatile and allow you to really get creative with your decor.

Yes there might be more work involved in making it happen but get the right team of suppliers on your side and it'll be a lot easier.

And you don't need to worry about the weather either - if it's cold or raining then you'll be cosy and dry inside the tipi. And if it's hot you'll either be glad of some shade or you'll be outside most of the day.

If you're thinking about this type of wedding you should also be thinking about a planner to manage your day. Typically with this sort of wedding there are no venue staff on site so you're going to need help to manage your set up, your suppliers, your timings and any issues.

VILLAGE HALL WEDDINGS

Many people dismiss village halls when considering possible wedding venues. But they can be such great option.

They're usually pretty spacious, really good value and provide a blank canvas to create your own day. E&P did just that and brought me in to manage their day for them to ensure they could fully relax and enjoy their day. E&P had made full use of all the facilities and had a lot of elements to their day so they definitely needed that help.

We did have some issues on the day - like the band all testing positive for Covid! and the caterers didn't have any glasses - but they were all resolved without E&P having to do anything or even know until later on.

Some village halls are even licensed for civil ceremonies so you can have everything in one place. They're definitely worth a 2nd look if you haven't found your dream venue yet.

And then once you have that booked, you can DM me to ask about help to run your day 😉 Many of the halls are dry hire so you won't have any of their staff to help you on the day.

DOGS AT WEDDINGS??

Many of my couples have had their dogs at their wedding for part of the day. Sometimes they are ring bearers, sometimes they just come for some photos after the ceremony. But they are always the cutest addition to the day and often steal the show for the time they are there.

R&O had all 5 of their dogs brought to their wedding after the ceremony. I love this shot of them all with the stunning backdrop from Smallshaw Farm where they had an outdoor ceremony followed by a marquee reception.

Always make sure there is someone to look after your dog who knows them - either the people looking after them for the rest of the day or a family member at a the wedding. Much as I love dogs I don't have time to look after them on the day for you I'm afraid.

And always check with your venue beforehand too, not all venues will let your dogs come inside.

A STATEMENT CAKE

I love a really tall wedding cake as it really makes a statement and gives a real wow factor. R&O opted for a five tier cake with lots of ruffles and a personalised cake topper.

They had 2 fake tiers within the cake which really helps to keep the cost down and reduce wastage.

What do you think? Would you opt for such a tall cake?

P.S extra tip - make sure the cake doesn't need moving once the cake maker has set it up for you!!

YOUR FIRST DANCE

For me your first dance usually signifies the end of the more formal celebrations and the start of your party. It gives you a few precious minutes alone as well and your song choice helps to remind you of why you fell in love in the first place.

I often suggest that you go straight into your first dance after you have cut your cake at the beginning of the evening. This way your evening guests get to be a part of some of the events of your wedding too.

Nicola & Guvi gave me the additional joyful task of releasing the confetti net above the dance floor at their venue which added even more magic and drama to their first dance.

Choosing your wedding planner is a big decision. You need to spend some time researching your options. But it's always a good idea to meet up with potential planners.

You can get a pretty good feel for planners from their website and social media. But there's nothing like meeting them face to face as we all know that social media often doesn't reflect real life. You can spend some time getting to know each other a little bit and ensuring that you think you can work together.

This is why I offer a free, no obligation, consultation to all potential clients. I think it's really important that we are both comfortable that we will get along. Meeting up also makes it far easier to explain planning services and gives you the opportunity to ask any questions that might be bothering you. WEDDING DAY MANAGEMENT

One of the many jobs I will carry out for you when you book wedding day management is adding the final touches to your tables. So putting out your favours, table numbers and place cards/menus is all part of my remit.

All I ask is that you box them up by table so it doesn't take me 3 hours to sort them out into tables 😅

DREAMING OF SUMMER.....

Well it's now the 385th of January and I'm ready for some sunshine. So I'm looking back on last year's gorgeous weddings.

Here are Jade & Rich having their confetti shot with their family & friends. I always love a good confetti shot and the path at Sheffield Manor Lodge lends itself perfectly for this.

WEDDING BUDGETS

Agreeing your wedding budget is one of the very first things you need to do and you most definitely need to do this before you book anything.

It's really easy to get carried away with a gorgeous venue but until you've worked out how much you are going to spend on your day how do you know if you can afford that gorgeous venue and be able to book the other suppliers that you will need?

So this week on the blog it's all about the money. How to work out what your budget will be, how to work out where to spend the most and how to keep track of your spend.

Every couple who work with me get my budget tracker included as part of their booking so whatever service you choose I can help you keep on top of the budget.

I know it's not very romantic talking about money but it's is important you get this sorted out early on to avoid being in a mess further down the track.

TOP TIP TUESDAY

When you start your wedding planning, create a new email address to use for all your communications with venues and suppliers.

This way it's much easier to find relevant emails and you'll have everything in one place. You can have some fun coming up with a creative name for it too - couples often use a mix of their names and the year - but you can pick whatever you like.

This gorgeous venue is Huddersfield Town Hall and was my wild card choice for Simon & Melissa who chose my partial planning service. Its so unusual and a fabulous space for you and your guests to enjoy.

LIKE HERDING CATS.....

I use this phrase regularly when talking about the process of getting all your guests seated for the wedding breakfast.

There are always the guests who sit down straight away - they're starving right
Then there are those who have to finish their conversation or drink just because
There are those who dash off to the bar to get another drink - like they're going to be captive at the table without fluids
And obviously there are those who absolutely must have a wee before they sit down
But by the time all this has taken place the guests who sat down first also now need a wee 😂

Anyway while I'm faffing about persuading, begging, telling off your guests (and closing the toilets!!) you can have 10 minutes together to step back and take everything in.

P.S if you're a wedding guest anytime soon please spare a thought for the poor person trying to get you all sat down......

"We recently got married and found about Louise through a recommendation. The biggest compliment we could pay her is that we went from initially wondering if we would actually need her service to wondering how on earth we would of got through it without her!
We had to postpone the wedding twice due to Covid so ended up speaking/meeting with Louise more times than I expect we would have normally. Over the 2 years of planning we made countless changes to our plans and none of this was too much trouble for Louise.

HELLO

It's been a while since I introduced myself so here I am!! I'm Louise and I'm the face (and everything else) behind Your Fabulous Wedding.

I've been a wedding planner for around 6 years now and I love every minute of it. In my previous life I was a Programme Manager for a very large bank. My experience there and my natural planning skills mean you're in very safe hands when it comes to planning and managing your wedding.

When I'm not planning weddings, I love to spend time with my slightly crazy family. Family is really important to me and is the reason why my husband can't persuade me to move abroad.

Some of the other key things in my life are holidays and wine!! and preferably both together. I love a chilled out beach holiday and there are so many places we still need to visit.

I'm a very down to earth, Yorkshire girl and I love to have a good chat over a cup of tea (I don't drink wine all the time!) so come and say hello to me and tell me all about your wedding plans.

I've been a bit quiet on here recently - life has got in the way for the last few weeks and I don't mind admitting I've had no time or energy left over for social media.

I've found a few hours today to plan some posts so this is just a quick catch up really. I should be well on with wrapping presents now but instead I haven't started and I haven't even finished my shopping. But my mum has needed me and that takes priority

I'm usually all done and dusted by now but I think I'll be frantically wrapping on Christmas Eve while trying to prep the veg! 😂

Anyways, hope you're all doing okay and getting in the festive mood. Not long to go now until we can eat chocolate and drink sherry for breakfast 😋
