Good morning 🌞

A little post to share some behind the scene self-care recipes that utilise ingredients you have lying around in the home!

Firstly, 2025 is the year for bigger health changes. With evolving healthy eating habits, I've started my year by making more home-made produce, whilst saving a buck and reducing waste.

Meet 'at home almond milk'

I personally don't drink much cows milk and since finding a cleaner alternative proves difficult from time to time. So, I decided to make my own at home.

The benefits:

✔️Budget friendly
✔️Waste management
✔️Know what's in your food
✔️Better taste
✔️Investment in your time, health and involving the family in food education

All you need is a food grade muslin cloth, a blender, your choice of nuts, filtered water, a pinch of good Celtic salt and a sterile glass jar 🫙

It's that simple!

✔️Soak your nuts in water for an hour in filtered water
✔️Transfer to the blender
✔️Add a pinch of salt
✔️Blend
✔️Strain in your muslin cloth - making sure all your bits have been removed
✔️Blend again
✔️Transfer to your preferred glass jar and pop it in the fridge

Almond pulp? Don't waste it! Keep aside and make your own almond butter, nut protein bar or, even add into a dish for an enhanced nutty flavour! 🤤

Our drop yesterday to the foodbank was a wonderful day. Especially, as whilst there, a handful of people from our local community were dropping off present boxes wrapped in pretty festival wrapping! 🎄

My lovely little daughter also decided to donate some gifts she hadn't got around to using. We'd be holding on to them for a few months in order to donate to a special little girl who might like to paint her nails this side of Christmas! Very proud.

With that being said, we've one last drop today with Christmas vegetables and we're done for Christmas!

Off to the foodbank tomorrow with a handful of, cream tomato, chickpea and onion soup plus, pea and ham hock!

Question is, why don't I make soups more often? These are delicious and I hope they are throughly enjoyed!

Just a wee update 🎄

This Christmas we are making some soups for the foodbank with all our leftover vegetables. This will continue into the new year also.

A cold soup delivered to reheat and serve to those who need a meal each day. There are many families who are struggling, we all do from time to time. But with the love of cooking, I hope to bring a little joy and support by way of donating some yummy soups.

In January, we'd love if anyone has any leftover whole vegetables and would like to donate them in order to keep giving as best we can to those in need.

We will be setting a new go fund me page for 2025 also, where any value of money can be donated to keep delivering.

We don't ask for much, as vegetables can be cheap. So, even a 50p is greatly appreciated.
