Tis the season folks!

If you’ve been to one of our Christmas workshops you’ll know that we love a good playlist and this year we’ve put together a Floribunda Rose Christmas Playlist over on Spotify.

Iif you fancy a listen just pop over to our blog on the website for the link (floribundarose.com) or head to Spotify and search for Floribunda Rose Christmas.

It’s two and a half hours long and is perfect for festive workshops or just to have at home and make everything feel Christmassy.

Here’s to a December full of love and good cheer ✨

I picked all of the daucus carota ‘purple kisses’ at the studio this week ahead of the cold weather and gave it the boiling water treatment - submerged the stem ends in an inch of freshly boiled water for 20 seconds before putting it into a vase of fresh cool water to bring home.

It was incredibly easy to grow, and adds some much appreciated colour and arching stems to the house when there’s not so much around.

A little ball of loosely scrunched chicken wire in the bottom of a tall vase helps to keep it light and airy.

I’m a bit of a traditionalist and prefer to keep my Christmas decor packed away until December so I’m embracing the last offerings of autumn.

We’ve been busy packing up prints of British Cut Flowers arranged by colour ready for sending out and it’s lovely to have vases of daucus to keep us company.

Have you rescued anything from your garden or plot to bring inside?

It has been a busy weekend wrapping up all of the pre-orders of our print British Cut Flowers arranged by colour. Having sold out over the summer I’m delighted to say they are back in stock just in time for Christmas!

We only ever design using British cut flowers & foliage so the Calendar has become an essential tool for our business, saving us countless hours in planning colour palettes for wedding and event flowers. So we thought we’d share it in the hope that it will make your life that bit easier too!

Flowers are organised first into colour blocks and then by their flowering month so that you can see at a glance what will be in bloom at any given point in the year.

It’s quite a big print at 100cm wide x 70cm high, we have ours framed in Ontario picture frame but it’s a standard size so there are lots of options.

Our fabulous printers (who also print our book A Guide to Floral Mechanics) printed these for us on fsc paper in Surrey, England.

We hope you love them as much as we do ✨

It has been a tough year for growing, but the roses have been fantastically abundant and beautiful. As the colder weather sets in I’m waving a fond farewell to these beauties and embracing what’s next.

The hellebores are tantalising close to flowering, the log burner is roaring and I’ve dug out my cosy jumpers.

We’re getting the studio ship shape ready for wreath classes (which are my absolute favourite classes of the year!) and we are preparing a brand new offering from FR - more to come on that soon!

Here’s to being grateful for what’s ending and embracing what’s yet to come ✨

We’ve taken a couple of weeks to recharge our batteries and explore the mountains of Switzerland, and it is breathtakingly beautiful!

We’ve paused shipping out book orders until the 6th November and will be properly back in the office from the 11th.

In the meantime we are arranging another run of our British cut flowers arranged by colour prints ready for Christmas - and whilst we’re talking about all things festive, our wreath making classes (my absolute favourite classes of the year!) are going to be on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th December this year (we may also run one on Monday 9th for anyone who would prefer a week day).

Full details about our books, print and classes are over on the website floribundarose.com (link in bio). Sarah x

Floating flowers are such a beautiful addition to a wedding! The flowers we source are British, seasonal and grown with love by our fantastic growers. These were floated in water to create a very special centrepiece in a rose garden which held the wedding ceremony of a truly lovely couple on a private estate in Surrey ✨

This year for the first time we are growing some of our own flowers in a little potager near our house.

Because we use British flowers we often hear the trials and tribulations of growing from our suppliers so I wasn’t expecting it to be plain sailing but my word, growing flowers is not for the faint of heart.

The biggest challenge has been battling the slugs, but when flowers like this Agrostemma githago ‘Milas Snow Queen’ finally start appearing, all of the hard work and disappointments are forgotten - I’m not sure there’s anything more satisfying than cutting beautiful flowers you’ve sown from seed and nurtured yourself.

We don’t intend to grow all of the flowers that we use - we have amazingly knowledgeable growers for that, but being able to use some of our own flowers is a real joy!

A little glimpse of Charlotte’s British flower filled May bouquet - for this gorgeous blue and white wedding we chose delphinium, peonies, garden roses, sweet peas, and my favourite May ingredient of all… philadelphus. Its fragrance is absolutely unforgettable. This plant may be unremarkable for many months of the year, but for a few glorious weeks it is spectacularly beautiful and exquisitely perfumed.

If you’d love scented, meaningful flowers for your wedding, we’d love to meet with you and find the perfect ingredients for your big day.

We get to work on some incredible weddings and events, and C&C’s wedding day was an absolute joy to be a part of.

We curated our florals to tie in with flowers from the family grounds - picking buckets of flowers from the gardens ahead of their wedding day, and that connection felt really special.

We used silver birch trees that had been grown on the estate to welcome guests to the church and inside leading to the altar to add to the serenity and beauty of the ceremony and then filled the marquee with flowers, and candles dressing the marquee poles with star jasmine and wisteria to bring the outside in.

It’s which is now in association with so if you’re tempted to try using some beautiful British flowers do take a look at their website to find growers near you.

British flowers are central to everything that we do at Floribunda Rose and our wonderful growers provide us with some of the most beautiful flowers in the world.

Huge thanks to our growers, our team and the wonderful couples who trust us with creating floral magic for their big days.

I feel as though my feet have barely touched the ground lately. I’ve been swept up in a whirlwind of conditioning, creating and delivering flowers for weddings and events and teaching in the flower school. So before it’s all about the roses, sweet peas and delphinium, I thought I’d pause and show you some of the spring beauties we’ve been admiring along the way.

‘Madame Lemoine’ syringa lilac is a firm favourite at this time of year, and though it isn’t very long lasting, its scent makes up for its fleeting nature, and the flowers are edible too. I’ve been meaning to make some lilac sugar which sounds absolutely divine, I’ll let you know if it’s any good!

I wouldn’t recommend eating the ranunculus, despite their fruit salad sweet vibes… but their vase life and multitude of ruffled petals make them a great addition to our floral palette nevertheless.

We’ve another busy week of flowering ahead and I’m especially looking forward to teaching. This week it’s a two day bespoke class focusing on table flowers, hand tied bouquets and arches using sustainable techniques from A Guide to Floral Mechanics and all of the best of this week’s British floral offerings.

This year’s tulips, poppies and fritillaria have been such a delight and I’m beyond excited at what’s coming next. The rose buds are already showing colour here at FR and the lilac is just about ready to burst into its fragrant splendour.

It feels as though spring is finally in full swing!

Opening the doors to flower school and bidding adieu to a winter that felt altogether too long has felt like a tonic for the soul.

It’s wonderful to have a studio bursting with flowers and life again and to be able to share it all with others who love flowers as much as we do.

We’ve been busy sowing seeds and planting up seedlings too and my fingers are tightly crossed for some beautiful home grown flowers this year.

The admin side of this business is as important as the flowering, especially for weddings. The devil is in the detail as they say… but there’s nothing like burying your face in a bucket of the first sweet peas of the season, or handing a bride her bouquet on the morning of her wedding. It really does lift the spirits and fill me with joy!

One of the great perks of running a business that uses British flowers is going to see what our growers are growing. It’s so exciting to see what’s in the ground now, and what’s coming next.

The tulips this year are absolutely gorgeous and my poppy obsession shows no signs of abating!
