😞 Not a post I wanted to write this morning, but sadly I feel it’s something I need to address. First off, I want to apologise to each and every one of you wonderful people who rocked up to the Spindle last night and witnessed the debacle towards the end when I paused the game to challenge someone who repeatedly and aggressively kept calling me out for ‘cheating’.

For context, a few of my family and friends were there yesterday (as they are most months), and as luck would have it, their table happened to be on a winning streak. That’s just the way the cookie crumbles in music bingo, you can never predict who is going to win. In my opinion, if someone is paying to play, it doesn’t matter who they are and what connection they are to me, it’s a game of chance. I regularly have about thirty close friends rocking up to support me, they love me and want to spend time with me. The order of the songs on the bingos are scrambled, and the playlist for each game is randomised just before I start it, I cannot force a win. Each card has a unique number on it, the computer decides who wins, NOT me. I go out of my way to be as transparent as possible, I do not distribute the cards, I do not handle any money. If someone wants me to show them how the software works, all they have to do is ask. Last night my reputation and integrity was put on the line and to say I’m upset is an understatement.

I have decided not to book any dates at the Spindle for 2026 yet, and will instead focus on trying to fight my Stage 4 cancer, which returned in September. We are not entirely sure the new chemo mix is working yet (I still have three sessions still to go), so I am sure you will understand that’s it’s probably for the best that I focus on that instead. If all goes well, and they manage to get my cancer stable again, I hope I can come back stronger and wiser in the spring!

In the meantime, thank you to everyone who has enjoyed and participated in any of my music bingos or quizzes this year, it’s been an absolute pleasure hosting for you. They bring me so much joy and purpose. Oh and many congratulations to Lizzie who won the £600 jackpot last night, she must have been thrilled, what an amazing early Christmas present that must have been for her!

It has no jingle bells, it doesn’t mention Santa, it doesn’t mention angels, it doesn’t mention presents or Jesus… WHAT IS THE SONG PLEASE??

🎸 I thought I’d share this fun video of my husband Glenn who was ‘helping’ me pack up yesterday after a quiz. I wondered why everyone was shouting his name and this is what I saw when I turned round: him up on the stage playing air guitar with my speaker stand!

🏆 To be fair, he was in good spirits, it was a quiz with unlimited fizz and beer and he was part of the winning team too.

🎄 A great turnout for our first of two Xmas-themed Music Bingos at The Spindle & Thread last Monday, with some VERY happy winners. Congratulations to Dan, our biggest winner of the evening taking home £500!

💃🏼 I love hosting here, there’s always such a happy, fun atmosphere, with everyone singing at the top of their voices. Thanks to everyone who rocks up month after month determined to have a good time - you’re all bloomin’ awesome!

🌧️ ☀️ Yesterday was a day full of lows and highs. Pretty much went straight from chemo (that almost didn’t happen due to dodgy bloods), to music bingo. Thankfully, very doable though as I don’t usually crash until middle of day two and both the hospital and pub are in High Wycombe.

🎵 Bingo was fabulous, the ‘Name’ themed round worked a treat. I had a really fun-loving table near me, all work colleagues who originally came in just for a quick drink after work. Fran then managed to persuade them to stay on for bingo. The energy and good vibes they bought to the night were incredible, they ended up being the last table to leave. Meg, if you’re reading this please message me your number and I’ll send you over the videos I took. The copyright police don’t always like it when I put them on here! And thank you so much for the lovely positive feedback you and your friends gave me on the night, yes I heard them all because I was so close. I was so lucky having you all sat by me on the night, it was just the ‘pick me up’ I needed. It’s nights like this that give me the motivation to keep fighting. Goodness knows what my oncologist would think if she randomly came in to pub and saw me front of house, singing and dancing along to ‘Living Next Door to Alice’, whilst drinking a glass of wine! 😂

👏 Congrats to all of our lucky winners last night. Julie won the big jackpot prize of £200 on the second game and George (who had a night off from the bar had a big win too).

🎄🎅 I look forward to seeing anyone who has successfully booked in for our Xmas Themed Music Bingos on either 1st or 15th December. I think all the tables have sold out now, so well done to you early turtle doves who’ve already secured a table. As always, they’ll be terrific fun, Fran and her team go full out on these nights, adding lots of extra festive surprises and prizes into the mix. The pub looks fabulous too, I was stood next to Santa’s grotto last night and it’s so cool. Make sure to dig out that Christmas sweater!

❤️ How lucky am I getting to do something that I truly love! Hosting music bingos and silly quizzes brings me so much joy, especially when the audience are as fun and appreciative as these guys always are! It’s the second time I’ve hosted here, and it looks like I’ll be back there in the new year too. With my current health issues, I’m quite choosy who I agree to host for these days, but when I find a crowd as cool as this, it’s hard to say no! They literally come in bouncing, full of excitement & smiles, and leave even happier, never forgetting to tell me how much they’ve enjoyed the evening, aswell as helping me to pack up. This particular night attracted about four tables of young people too, which pleased me greatly. Seeing them off their phones, singing, cheering and just enjoying being in the moment was just brilliant. Quite a few of them came over to thank me at the end too, believe me that little gesture never goes unnoticed.

🏆 It was an exciting, close run quiz, but well done to Table Two who clinched it in the end! Congratulations to one of their members Sarah who was our overall ‘Top Banana’ of the evening, (aka highest scoring individual). This table had a very good night indeed - they even won the Music Bingo!
