Christmas Cake is being dressed with marzipan for shipment. Made to my mother's recipe the Christmas cake is made with semolina, cashew, ginger, dried and preserved fruits.
The fruits have been steeped in brandy. This is a slow baked cake for 3 hours.

Well loved collar, bowl, lead and dog bed abandoned,

An ardent Swimmer, no canal, stream, pond, river nor muddy puddle ignored,

Daughter, mother, wife, sister, friend, colleague, lover, partner, companion.

I had to share this poster. I saw it when on my morning walk, outside the Colombo University Campus. It got my curiosity. I realised what a powerful images it was.

At a time when violance against women is increasingly highlighted as a world-wide phenomenal. I wonder, is it increasing or is it that we are more aware. Or both.
At home. At school. At work. Day or night.

Yapahuwa 🍂🌼

Yapahuwa Rock Fortress is located 147 km away from Colombo, in the Kurunegala District, Kurunegala – Anuradhapura Road. Though this fortress is not famous among many tourists, the rock fortress holds vital importance in the history and cultural heritage of Sri Lanka for its astonishing architecture.

During the reign of King Buvanekabahu I, the son of Parakramabahu, yapahuwa was used as the capital, and at one time Yapahuwa housed the tooth relic for over 11 years. Due to many invasions once the city was abandoned the monks used the premises for monastic practices.
