🤍🤍🤍

One of my favourite things about weddings or civil partnerships is the outpouring of love show on these special days not just to partners, but to friends and family. It’s so lovely to see a small glimpse of that when I deliver the personal flowers to their recipients. There’s always so much joy in the air. I like to think of bridesmaid or best peoples’ flowers as small tokens of appreciation and a commemoration of special relationships. Whether they be bouquets, boutonnières, corsages or flower crowns… they’re a little mark of love.

Here we see O’s bouquet alongside her two bridesmaids’ bouquets. Three beauties captured so well by at this June.

If you’re planning your wedding for next year, I’d love to chat about what I could do for you. Please get in touch and we can arrange an initial consultation to talk through your flowers and how I can help bring your vision to life. Send me a message or get in touch via my website 🤍

🧡 H’s bouquet 🧡

Congratulations to H&T who married yesterday. I loved working with you on this brief of white and green flowers with touches of peaches, oranges and reds. Such a modern, classy look!

The first of the scented geranium is in here too… one of my favourite foliages for texture and scent. And the first of the dahlia! A gorgeous, seasonal bouquet.

Here C is with her bouquet last year. Full of the best of the start of July in a beautiful pastel-ly palette of blues, lilacs, pinks and whites. I will never tire of seeing flowers out in the wild, fulfilling their role to help make these most special of days.

This bouquet is in great company too, paired with this gorgeous bag 🤍

🌈 A nice big vase of flowers 🌈

One of my favourite requests is a nice big vase of flowers! They’re simple yet impactful and can be moved around easily.

This beauty (and its partner) travelled from the church ceremony to the reception venue, and was then positioned for the wedding breakfast and the dance floor afterwards. A super versatile choice!

🧡 S’s bouquet 🧡

Congratulations to S and T who married yesterday! Here is S’s bouquet which was full of scented roses, sweet peas and the last of the peonies (swipe through to see it!).

S wanted a relatively upright bouquet full of different shades of pink, peach and hits of lilac and orange. I kept it natural looking with the slight variations in height and the wiggle of the sweet peas and geums. I loved working with these ingredients and colour palette. And of course with S and T to bring their wedding flower vision to life!

❤️💗 A tangle of June 💗❤️

I love this colour palette of reds and pinks and the tangle of some of June’s finest offerings. In contrast to the big, showy peonies in my last post, these delicate, entwined beauties offer just as much I think.

I love their subtle elegance and that they’re still fun with the bright colours and dancing stems. These positioned all along a mantle or a shorter version running the length of long dining tables would look so elegant at a wedding or dinner.

If you’re planning your wedding or event for next year, I have availability and would love to chat about what I could do for you. Get in touch via my website, and let’s arrange a call to talk all things flowers! Link in my bio.

💘One last hurrah for the peonies! 💘

We’re at the very edge of the season now and these few are the ones that didn’t open for last weekend’s wedding. There’s always some, so this has to be planned for when ordering… staggering the arrival of the flowers in the days before so that each one is at the right stage for the designs and ordering a few extras to ensure there are the right amount for the occasion.

I’ve combined them here with a few snippets from the garden, including two of my favourite garden fillers: geranium and erigeron which you can scroll through to see in more detail. For me, that delicate dainty detail balances out the blowsy peonies. What do you think?

🤍 Hellebore Appreciation Society 🤍

If I was getting married at this time of year, I would most certainly want hellebores in my floral arrangements. They’re absolutely beautiful and lighting up gardens at the moment too.

As well as being a florist, I work as a gardener and I can’t tell you how much hellebores brighten a garden at this time of year. Beautiful jewels in the borders blooming through the cold and wet, loved by early bees and gardeners alike, and coming back year after year. A real favourite of mine.

The little things…

Buttonholes don’t have to be boring! For this gorgeous winter wedding, I used a selection of different textures and shapes to create delicate yet impactful buttonholes. I love making buttonholes. When I first started out they were something I feared, but now I love making them. Wiring each stem is a form of mindfulness and a moment to slow down during wedding flower prep. They’re like tiny little bouquets and I adore them!

A favourite of this year’s wreaths. Cool blues with white and little pops of red rose hips, all finished with a beautiful blue bow.

My wreath orders are now all made, with the last one being collected tomorrow. What a couple of weeks! Thank you to everyone who ordered or came to a workshop. It’s been a fun, creative and busy start to December.

This is fourth Christmas which I find very hard to believe! The business is just over three years old now. I completely missed the anniversary of the launch at the end of November as I was busy with weddings and wreath prep, but taking a little moment now the wreaths are done to acknowledge that. Time really flies!

Many of the wreaths this year were for people who first bought one from me four years ago. Continued support of my small business is truly appreciated. Thank you! To everyone. I wonder what the next year will bring…

Gorgeous rich reds and burnt oranges with lots of foliage, finished off with those showstopper chrysanthemums. These were fab pops of colour on the dining tables.

⚪️ Snowball ⚪️

The second design for this year. This is a mix of eucalyptus, mimosa and conifer. It’s soft blue undertones would work especially well against natural wood colours, pinks and deep blues. It is decorated with a mix of natural, dried ingredients meaning this design is best suited to a sheltered door (not one that will get heaving rain on it).

As with all my designs, they are completely customisable and can have things added or taken away, extra colours included. Better yet, send me a photo of your door and let me know a little bit about your style and favourite colours and leave the rest to me.

I have just a handful of wreath spaces left now, so if you would like to one please do visit my website to order. I make all of the wreaths myself from scratch, with fresh foliages and natural decorations. Ribbons can be added too of course, and I’ll post separately about those options soon!

🩷❤️🧡A’s bouquet🧡❤️🩷

Congratulations to A and J who I had the pleasure of flowering for yesterday.

A joyous brief of colour allowed me to select the very best of the season from which to design this bouquet. A slightly graphic edge was achieved with different heights and angles.

Filled with the most beautiful dahlia, rudbeckia and cosmos, accompanied by different delicate foliages and grasses, this abundant bouquet is a love letter to September. It was touch and go whether the rudbeckia would be in bloom or not, and my goodness I’m glad they got the memo! That rudbeckia makes this bouquet for me. What a stunning colour.

Thank you so much to Mary for growing all of these flowers. They are so beautiful and I feel very lucky to get to work with such quality ingredients.

🤍F’s bouquet🤍

I loved making this bouquet. Its scent was superb thanks to the roses and geranium leaf. And it had just the right amount of bounce with the stunning gaura and cosmos dancing above the other stems.

Thank you to the wonderful Mary and to where I sourced the majority of these beautiful flowers. The best of British supplemented with some select imported stems to complete the design. It was tied with delicate, cruelty free silk ribbon by

Swipe to see my favourite little detail, the little phlox of dreams alongside the most perfect dahlia. End of August’s best.

🩵 Huge congratulations to F and G 🩵

I had the honour of flowering their beautiful wedding on Thursday and here is what was created for their ceremony. We moved these pieces after the ceremony to the reception pavilion to get the very most out of the flowers. No mean feat moving the uprights but definitely worth it to ensure they could be enjoyed all day.

I have been looking forward to this wedding since it was booked in October last year. Such a fabulous brief. I wish I’d had time to take more photos on the day!

🧡 How gorgeous is this photo of E and P from their wedding last autumn.

I was looking back on these flowers earlier as I finalised some plans for this autumn, and I realised I had never shared this photo here! This bouquet was full of British grown beauties, showing off the season perfectly. It’s always so special to see photos from a wedding.

After tomorrow, I’ll be giving my floristry scissors a little rest while I take some time off work with my family before a big, beautiful wedding at the end of the month. I’m so excited for it! I don’t think I’ll ever get bored of coming up with flower combinations and designs for such milestone events in people’s lives. It’s such a privilege, and to then see photos from the days themselves is the icing on the cake!

🤍 C’s bouquet 🤍

This weekend I had the joy of creating a bouquet for one of my dearest friends. She wanted pastel tones including lilac and here’s what I came up with. I opted for a mix of gorgeous flowers and tones, including some beautifully scented British roses and scabiosa. This bouquet had just touches of foliage in the shape of apple mint… A little nod to the bride’s penchant for both a mint tea and mojito!

What an honour it was to design this bouquet 🙏🏻🤗🤍

And just like that, my wedding season is underway…

This weekend I had the honour of making wedding flowers for J&C and I can’t wait to share what I created here soon. I need to sort through the photos and choose the best ones to share.

Pictured here is a little arrangement I put together with some extra stems. I always order just over what I need in case of any damages to stems or edits needed to my planned designs. This has the happy consequence of a few leftover stems when all goes to plan!

Here you can see the very last of this years tulips from a wonderful local grower. Their exuberant ruffles steal the show for me in this design. Which is your favourite flower here?

This wedding season I have a lovely mix of my own weddings and freelance floristry work. I’m excited to get stuck in and look forward to sharing some of the work here with you. Thank you for following!

Happy New Year!

It’s back to some routine today for me after a lovely break over Christmas and New Year. I caught up on emails at the weekend and so if you were waiting on responses or invoices please do check your inbox!

January is somewhat of a quieter month for me flower wise. There’s much admin to keep me busy - the looming tax return deadline is at the top of the list - but I also have some lovely wedding flower proposals to be working on too.

I hope the start of the year is being kind to you and that we have a few more cold, crisp, blue sky days ahead. I’ve seen the first of the snowdrops flowering and my hellebores are really showing off this year, keeping me going until Spring blooms aplenty. I still have some bulbs left to plant so am keeping all crossed for a few dry hours this weekend in which to do that.

If you’re planning your wedding and starting g to think about flowers please get in touch. I’d love to chat about what I could do for you.

Work done! That’s me finished now until the new year. My last proposals for 2023 weddings have been sent, the final flower deliveries made and this arrangement is my present to myself. Snowballs of delight!

Thank you all for following me on here and supporting my small business. It’s been a great year and I’m excited to have some more time next year to dedicate to developing HJF. First off though is a nice break until January. I’m looking forward to time with family and friends, and for my hands to return to their pre-Christmas wreath creation state! Pass the hand cream and the mulled wine! 🍷

Cheers to you all. Wishing you a lovely Christmas if you’re celebrating and a happy, healthy new year. Until 2023! 🤗

This Thursday, my Christmas offerings will go live. You will have the choice of…
✨two wreath designs

🌟 Making an entrance 🌟

These two statement columns framed the entrance to the dining room (which I styled with beautiful boxes of flowers and brass candlesticks). They really added to the sense of occasion .

Have you thought about having larger floral installations at your wedding? They are excellent ways to frame the end of the aisle, around the top table if you’re having one, or as a fabulous entranceway and great photo backdrop.

If you’re looking for your wedding florist, do get in tocuh. I’d love to speak to you about what I can do for you.

I made this floral pocket square at workshop earlier this week and I absolutely love it. Definitely one to consider if you’re planning your wedding flowers.
