Reflecting on 2024, I feel so grateful to have been part of so many beautiful weddings! Each celebration unique, and the privilege of being in this role on such a significant day in a couple’s life is something I never take for granted.

When a celebrant creates the first draft of your ceremony - really this should be seen as a starting point.

My main aim with the first draft is to capture the essence of my couple; make sure their voices resonant throughout the ceremony. Their humour cuts through and their values are front and centre. The rest can be ironed out.

You - the couple are the editors and it is very much a collaboration. However, the couple has ultimate content control.

In all my experience this process has always been a pleasure because the reason a couple have chosen a particular celebrant in the first place, is generally because of the connection they all have; so it all falls into place.

Then once the wedding feels like a distant memory I love sending my couples their souvenir script. It transports them back to that magical day and they get to read all the funny, poignant, emotional and magical things they said about one another and to relive their journey so far.

Because every couple has an incredible love story and how special to have it documented forever x

💍 : Choosing the Right Partner Starts with the Right Questions 💍

I recently came across a fantastic post by and it really struck a chord with me. I just had to share these powerful questions because they are so important when it comes to choosing the right partner.

Before you marry or commit to a long-term relationship, asking the right questions and truly listening to the answers is key. It’s about understanding if your values, goals, and standards align. It’s not always easy, but it’s so worth it to ensure you’re both on the same page for the future.

Practice makes a Perfect Ceremony!

It’s all about ‘delivery’ this week; consequently, I’m standing in my kitchen, mic in hand, practicing a ceremony for the weekend.

I start by putting our final draft into a delivery script. I always enlarge all the writing. I put a paragraph per page, so I’m not reading down the page. I annotate my script, making sure certain moments are in bold or highlighted.

Sometimes you find yourself re jigging the odd sentence because it worked for reading, but actually when it comes to speaking it, you might need slightly different phrasing in places. I like to run through my script 10 times, with no stopping in the final 3 run throughs!

I really care about creating and presenting the best ceremony possible....

🌟 Excited to be back after a short break!

One of the highlights of my time away was the privilege of being the Compere and participating as a singer in the second "Sing Like You Mean It" showcase, and what an unforgettable night it was!

The talent on display was nothing short of inspiring, and the overwhelming sense of community made it even more special. There’s something truly uplifting about singing in a group; it’s fantastic for mental health, requiring you to be fully present and engaged while mastering those harmonies.

One of the best parts? I got to share this experience with my husband, making it a wonderful activity for us to enjoy together. What an absolute joy to not only participate in this event but also to have this as a hobby. 🎤❤️

I’m taking a break for a week!

I just need a breather and a little time to catch up on everything! Plus, I’m heading to Somerset this weekend to celebrate one of my best friend’s 50 years on this planet. I’m so excited because it means my inner circle of besties will be reunited for 48 hrs! It’s going to be EPIC. I’m sure they’ll be some photos to follow. So checking out for now. Getting ready for a wedding next weekend, with a rehearsal yesterday at the Reigate Hill Golf Club. This fabulous couple have such a great sense of humour, we laughed a lot! The ceremony is not only a celebration of A & R‘s love story, but it is also the blending of two families, each rich with its own unique cultural background. So we will talk about the merging of their diverse family dynamics and their respect for one another’s heritage. I’ve never initiated a ceremony at @reigatehillweddingsandevents, but I could see immediately in my visit yesterday that it’s a great venue, with a superb team. Nothing was too trouble and they offer a very competitive rate for your special day with lots of ‘add ons’ thrown in for no extra cost. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting up with another fabulous couple for their wedding rehearsal yesterday. Megan and Taku are an international couple, and flew in from Japan last week. They tied the knot in Japan during lockdown, but wanted to make it official and bring both families together to celebrate their union here in the beautiful setting of the sunken gardens in front of the Loggia at Nymans. I wanted to take a moment to capture the wonderful Harriet, who is not only Megan‘s bridesmaid but also chief translator. Here she is rehearsing the ring exchange with our handsome groom Taku. This is the first time I’ve worked with a translator. It’s been a brilliant experience. Taku has worked his magic and translated the whole ceremony into Japanese, making sure all his close family and friends can follow the ceremony and enjoy their epic love story word for word!
