Where are you baby coz BOOMANIA is coming to Bedford!
Hip Hop pioneer and 90’s icon Betty Boo is a platinum-selling, Brit, and Ivor Novello Award-winning singer-songwriter and rapper. She is best known for her hits “Hey DJ – I Can’t Dance To That Music You’re Playing,” “Doin’ The Do” and “Where Are You Baby?” which propelled her into the spotlight in 1990. In 2022 after a 30 year hiatus, Betty Boo made an unexpected return with the critically acclaimed, radio smash filled album “Boomerang.” She followed this with her 2024 UK Top 40 album, “Rip Up The Rulebook,” which has been universally described as her best album to date.
35 years later, Betty Boo’s hits remain deeply loved, and she is
celebrating this monumental milestone with special edition re-releases of her two classic 90s albums: Boomania and GRRR! It’s Betty Boo.

This is your chance to hear the songs of arguably Britain’s top and most influential Anarcho-Punk band, as played by the original lead singer Steve Ignorant and his superb band. Performed with the same anger and intensity of those days, the band has given these songs a new lease of life. The political and lyrical ideas of CRASS are even more relevant today as they were then and with the entire CRASS Catalogue having been remastered and reissued through One Little Independent in April 2019, the interest in CRASS and what it stands for has increased and intensified.

UK Indie-Pop stalwarts, Dodgy make a very welcome return to Esquires for the first time since 2017, as we bring them back to Bedford as part of the venue's 35th anniversary year!

Legends of the UK live scene, there’s not many festivals or indeed towns that these boys haven’t played in the 34 years they’ve been together. In that time, they have released five albums, sold over 2 million records, been streamed over 50 million times worldwide, and enjoyed 12 Top 40 singles, including the massive hits Good Enough' and 'Staying Out For The Summer'.

Pleased to announce following sell out shows in 2023 we are bringing Inspiral Carpets back to Roadmender Northampton on Sat 22nd November & Cambridge Junction on Weds 10th December.

Ahead of some new material the band are working on for this run of dates they will be playing a 'Greatest Hits' set as the as two years has reminded the band what their songs mean to people and they love playing those songs!

We're very excited to have Fabio and Grooverider joining us at the end of April, hot off the back of selling out The Royal Albert Hall with their 'History of Drum & Bass' show.

Fabio and Grooverider, the Godfathers of Drum & Bass and legends of modern music who are idolised worldwide. Industry heavyweights, fans and artists regardless of genre will readily respect and praise the ongoing influence of the two.

Since aligning professionally 30 years ago, Fabio & Grooverider have been at the forefront of a genre which just seems to get stronger and more ‘global’ year on year, with household names such as Chase & Status, Sigma and DJ Fresh smashing the top 40 to pieces. These are just a few names that received their initial exposure from the pair on their 14 Year Award winning show on BBC Radio 1.

Very pleased to announce Gruff Rhys is coming to Bedford Esquires on Tues 10th June as part of our ongoing 35th Anniversary Celebrations. The enigmatic Welsh musician, is best known as the frontman and main songwriter of Super Furry Animals, one of the most inventive British bands of the 1990s and 2000s.

Famed for blending psychedelia, indie rock, and electronic experimentation, Rhys has also built a rich solo career, releasing acclaimed albums like Candylion, Hotel Shampoo, American Interior and Babelsberg.

His musical ventures extend to concept-driven projects, including American Interior, a multimedia exploration of Welsh explorer John Evans. Rhys has collaborated with Gorillaz, Danger Mouse, and Mogwai and also recorded under the guise of electro pop outfit Neon Neon cementing his reputation as a boundary-pushing artist. His storytelling, humor, and eclecticism make him a singular voice in modern music.

Last seen at Esquires with Super Furry Animals in 1996 it's taken us just 29 years to get him back over the threshold and the booking team here are little excited 🙂

We're VERY excited about this one - the incredible Ibibio Sound Machine are coming to Bedford Esquires in October, as part of the venue's 35th anniversary celebrations!

Fronted by Nigerian singer Eno Williams, Ibibio Sound Machine is a clash of African and electronic elements inspired in equal measure by the golden era of West-African funk and disco and modern post-punk and electro.

Ibibio Sound Machine were founded by Williams and Max Grunhard in 2013 with the idea of combining the unique sound of the Ibibio language that Eno spoke growing up in Nigeria with both traditional West African and more modern electronic musical elements.

For The Lovely Eggs being in a band is a way of life. It’s about art. It’s about creativity and expression. It’s about following your own path and doing things your own way.

Holly and David operate on their terms, spewing out music, records, art and television shows before piling in the van and tearing round the country to perform a load of live sold out shows.

Their wild and wilful independence sets themselves apart from other bands and despite having no management, booking agent, record label or publisher their album “I am Moron” shot to Number One in the Official UK Independent Charts and they continue to sell out shows across the country.

This is where i'd normally put an egg joke, but they've all been done before. Tickets on sale at SEE and Slide from Thursday 10am. Set your EGG-timers so you don't forget.
