We finally get to welcome the legendary Mr. Scruff to Bedford for the very first time alongside MC Kwasi. Famed for his incredible 5-hour DJ sets Mr Scruff tonight will be no exception - taking to the stage from doors at 8pm until 1am. Expect the finest in tracks across the board, flitting between soul, funk, hip hop, jazz, reggae, latin, African, ska, disco, house, funk, breaks, soundtracks and loads more.
GOOD NEWS – We have just released a handful of tickets online at Seetickets for tonight’s S*LD *UT show so there is a last-minute chance to snap up a ticket & tonight we will be operating a 1 in, 1 out policy so there could be every chance you can get in at some point

Pleased to announce 80’s legends HUE & CRY come to Bedford Esquires Friday 24th October for a special Electro / Acoustic show.
Alongside Wet Wet Wet, Texas, and Deacon Blue, blue-eyed soul pop siblings Hue & Cry were one of the most successful acts to emerge from the Scottish music scene that dominated the charts in the late '80s with Top 40 hits such as LABOUR OF LOVE, LOOKING FOR LINDA, ORDINARY ANGEL alongside 5 top 10 albums.

Tony Wright (Terrorvision) - Thurs 13th March, Bedford Esquires

Tony Wright is best known as the singer for Bradford rock band Terrorvision. However, when he's not touring with Terrorvision, he writes, records and tours under his own name with a setlist made up of songs he has written on his acoustic guitar - some upbeat, some melancholic, but all thought-provoking.

To say Tony is a busy man would be an understatement. In addition to his three albums with his post-Terrorvision band ‘LaikaDog’, he has now released three solo albums to date. ‘Thoughts ’n’ All’ is just Tony and his acoustic guitar. The follow up, ‘Walnut Dash’, brought the evolution of Tony with his acoustic guitar and a full band. The latest ‘The Anti Album’ is set to be his most ambitious album yet. The album takes influence from his previous works whilst managing to carve out its own place in Tony’s respectable discography.

Pleased to announce the welcome return of Pale Blue Eyes to Bedford Esquires on Sun 13th April.

The band release their third album in 2025 on their own imprint, Broadcast Recordings. As with the first two albums the record has been produced by the band and final mixed and mastered by Dean Honer. Honer has produced the likes of The Human League, Add N to (x) and Roisin Murphy and worked with countless Sheffield names from Jarvis Cocker to Tony Christie.

Under the Radar: “Pale Blue Eyes are one of the most exciting bands to emerge from the UK in recent years. Taking their cue from the likes of M83, Slowdive and The Velvet Underground, they’ve fast become one of the circuit’s must-see acts.”

We're really pleased to have secured a show with Crash Test Dummies at Bedford Esquires in May 2025!

With one of the most recognizable voices in Canadian music history, alternative rock band Crash Test Dummies are a three-time Grammy nominated and JUNO award-winning group, who soared to the top of the worldwide charts in the early 1990’s with hits “Mmm, Mmm, Mmm, Mmm” and “Superman’s Song”. Their cover of “The Ballad of Peter Pumpkinhead” was a highlight of the soundtrack to the blockbuster film, “Dumb and Dumber”, while simultaneously reaching #4 on the US Top 100 album charts. All of their releases keep the same folk-hued, alternative spirit of their early sound, centering around the distinct baritone of frontman Brad Roberts and Ellen Reid’s folk-rock fusion.

After a twenty-year hiatus, the Crash Test Dummies reunited in 2018 for a two-week tour to celebrate their most successful album “God Shuffled His Feet”. The overwhelming reception to these shows has since led to continuous touring across two continents, with sold-out shows across the US, Canada, the UK, Germany, Austria and the Netherlands.

They come to Esquires as part of the venue's 35th anniversary celebrations on Thursday 15th May. Tickets go on sale this Friday at 10am.

We are very pleased to announce the return of Jesus Jones to Bedford Esquires on Sat 29th March

Blending rock, rave and techno, Jesus Jones were one of shining lights of the early nineties alternative dance scene with such indie disco classics as ‘Never Enough’, ‘Real, Real, Real’ and the still amazing ‘Info Freako’. Not content with helping change the face of popular music, Jesus Jones then cracked America, having a massive hit in the states with the anthemic ‘Right Here, RIght Now’ and their massive selling second album ‘Doubt’ Further hit albums followed, notably 1993’s ‘Perverse’

We are really proud to have partnered with Cuffe & Taylor, to bring Bedford the biggest indie line up ever seen, with the mighty Supergrass taking over Bedford Summer Sessions on Saturday 12th July 2025.

Joining the line up, we’ve managed to secure both The Coral on main support and Willie J Healey, with more to be announced soon. Celebrating the 30th anniversary of their iconic debut album, I Should Coco, Supergrass will perform the album in full along with other fan favourites.

DUB PISTOLS

We can’t believe it will be 4 years since Dub Pistols played Bedford Esquires so we are putting that right with a show as part of the venues 35th Anniversary celebrations on Saturday 22nd March .

The Dubs may have had an easier ride of it if they’d been a cartoon band like Gorillaz. There wouldn’t have been assorted band member casualties along the way, for starters, as life on the road took its toll. The multi-cultural collective has involved dozens of artists and musicians over the years — some remaining for years, a few for the duration, and others just popping in for a guest appearance. Their sound has accordingly morphed a variety of times since their inception: taking in dub, punk, jungle, ska, breakbeat, hip-hop and a whole lot more, it’s been a long road travelled.
