The weekend is nearly here, and we’re excited about everything Bedford Borough has to offer!

📚 Saturday 21: Christmas Story Time with Santa
Head to Bedford Central Library for a magical Story Time with a very special guest—Santa himself! Children can enjoy this festive treat as Santa shares a story in the library from 11:30am to 12pm.

🎶 Live Performances in Bedford Town Centre

Saturday 21: May Blossom will be singing from 11am to 12pm.
Sunday 22: Ampthill Town Band will be performing from 11am to 1pm.

🍴 Foodies, don’t miss Eat Feast in Harpur Square!
Running Saturday only (due to predicted strong winds), from 11am to 4pm, you’ll find delicious food options, including:

One Pot Shack - Caribbean cuisine
Maya Street Food - Korean street food
High Fryers - Loaded fries
Crumb De La Creme - Loaded brownies, stuffed cookie pies, and cakes
The Stirrup Bar - Mulled wine and more

🎨 Free Crafts and Activities for Families
Harpur Square will also host free family-friendly crafts and workshops on both days:

In the Workshop Tent:
Create Christmas decorations and a cotton wool snowman with Marta Plizga.
Paint a Christmas shopping bag and design a Christmas card with Art School.
Craft a festive crown with Kaye Mahoney, aka Kaye Leidoskope.

In the Activity Tent:
Laughter Yoga with Cheryl Green.
Frosty potions and Christmas fire tiles with Little Science Lab.
Dance and decorate in an interactive crafting movement session with Desiree Bashi.
Celebrate language in the Words of the World workshop, crafting a multilingual notebook of inspiration.

The Charter Market: Running both days on Midland Road and Allhallows, and on St. Paul's Square on Saturday.
The Higgins Bedford: Open as usual on both days—explore the brilliant displays and exhibitions!

🎄 Have you been to the Winter Wonderland at Bedford Park yet?
It’s packed with festive fun, and tickets are still available! A quick tip: the closest car park is Queens Street (free for the first two hours), and Lurke Street is a short walk away with free parking for up to four hours.

We are excited to announce a new trail run coming to Harrold and Odell Country Park on Saturday 8th March 2025.
Thunder Races offer 3 different distances to suit every ability with the 10km and 25km open to all runners, joggers and walkers and a 50km distance for the more experienced runners wanting a new challenge. Starting and finishing in the beautiful country park and taking in some of the most pretty trails around Bedfordshire, its one not to be missed....plus did we mention the gorgeous medal all finishers receive ! RIVERCARE CANCELLED - THIS SATURDAY 5TH OCTOBER
Due to the high river levels and on-going poor weather conditions it is with regret that we have decided to cancel the Rivercare community volunteering event which was due to take place this Saturday. We will be looking to rearrange this for a date in the spring and hope to see many of you at the next event.

The Big Rivercare Clean Up is returning this October! Bedford Borough Council are inviting local residents to come along on Saturday 5th October between 10am-12noon.

Here’s what you can expect at the event:
Litter picking equipment provided by Bedford Borough Council.
Support from scuba divers, kayakers, and the Environment Agency.
Refreshments provided by The John Bunyan Boat, moored in St Mary’s Gardens.
A complimentary tea/Americano coffee for the first 50 volunteers who visit The Longholme on the day.
10% discount on sit-in lunch/brunch at The Longholme for volunteers who book ahead and mention the event in the booking notes, visit buff.ly/3MMUPRL to book.
Free parking available in Borough Hall Car Park for all participants.

Getting involved is easy!
