We offer STEM parties for all ages and all levels - from big, messy experiments to more advanced circuit-building challenges.

Some of our favourite setups from this weekend involve breadboards, resistors, buzzers, and transmitters - real hands-on circuit work where you get to build simple electronic games from scratch. No microcontrollers, no screens, just proper old-school electronics and plenty of problem-solving along the way.

These parties are perfect for curious minds who want to go beyond slime and rockets (although we love bringing those too!). Whether you’re after a wild, high-energy party or something more technical, we can tailor the session to match your crowd.

⚡️ Lemon Power! ⚡️
After school science fun at John Shelton John Shelton Community Primary School today – we powered LEDs using lemon batteries! 🍋 The young scientists loved exploring how fruits can create electricity.
Brilliant teamwork, curiosity, and lots of smiles all around!

Science Wander Garden Party Begbroke Science Park at University of Oxford yesterday was wild - in the best possible way! 🔧🧠✨

From 11 to 4 we were non-stop: building scribble bots and launching rockets. The gazebo was packed, the kids were buzzing with ideas, and the energy never dipped. Over 250 bots were built over 5 hours!

Huge thanks to everyone who came by, joined the chaos, asked brilliant questions, and made this such a joyful blur of wires, motors, and invention. And thank you to the kind souls who brought me water throughout - lifesavers in this heat! 💚

🐐🌊 Ancient Ingenuity: Assyrian Soldiers and Inflated Skins
Next half-term, we're diving into the world of Ancient Inventions — and while we won’t be making goatskin floaties (you’re welcome 😅), this one’s too clever not to share!
👉 Book your spot here: https://tinyurl.com/STEM-ancient-inventions

Nearly 3,000 years ago, Assyrian soldiers came up with a smart way to cross rivers during battle: they inflated animal skins - most likely goatskins - and used them to stay afloat. Think ancient life jackets! 🦺

This early bit of engineering is carved into stone from around 865 BCE, now on display at the British Museum It’s a great reminder that ancient people weren’t just warriors — they were inventors, problem-solvers, and serious thinkers.

🧠 If you fancy geeking out a bit more, there’s even an academic article all about early flotation devices (yes, really). It covers everything from reeds to animal bladders — including the Assyrian example:
📚 Read it on ResearchGate: https://www.researchgate.net/publication/334778074_Ancient_buoyancy_devices_in_Sweden_floats_made_of_reed_club-rush_inflated_skins_and_animal_bladders

We'll be exploring loads of inventions just as creative (and way more hands-on) in our next sessions. Come join the adventure!
