Yesterday we had the privilege of taking part in the Pitch Perfect event hosted by Belfast Orangefest and the Ulster-Scots Agency at Seaview Stadium. A great event that showcased and celebrated a wide range of Ulster-Scots musical traditions.
The event puts an end to the marching season for us and it's been an excellent season once again. It's been great to see so many new members come through the door and yesterday we walked with the biggest band we've had out on the road since the band formed in 2019.
We are looking for new members to join the band for the season ahead, particularly fluters and a new male colour party. A learners class for fluters will run on a Wednesday evening during the months of October, November and January with the full band back at practice in February.
If you need more info or you're interested in joining, reach out to a band member or send us a message on the page.
Approaching the finish of the parade yesterday afternoon
Yesterday morning we paraded around Whitecity before heading off to Londonderry.
We stopped on Gunnell Hill to pay our respects to Caroline Hamilton (Wood) who sadly passed away on Friday evening. Caroline had many friends in the band and would always be standing waiting on us walking around the estate, not only was Caroline a long time supporter of the band but she donated / contributed to every fundraiser the band had run, even going away back to the Whitewell Defenders days.
Caroline will be missed by everyone in our wee estate.
"TO ABSENT FRIENDS" 💙
Last night we travelled to Ballymoney for Dunaghy Flute Band annual parade.
The town was packed and there was a great atmosphere about the place for a Wednesday evening. We hope Dunaghy got a good lift and we wish them all the best for the rest of the season. 🇬🇧
🇬🇧 What a day we had at during the 12th of July Battle of the Boyne Celebrations of 2023 🇬🇧
We started off with our traditional walk around Whitecity followed by laying a wreath to honour absent friends 🤝🇬🇧
