Responsible and Sustainable Events TIP #2

🌿 Why not choose one of Northern Ireland's magnificent eco-friendly and sustainable venues for your next event?

Many NI conference venues and hotels have embraced renewable energy sources like solar or wind power, and introduced water-saving fixtures like low-flow toilets and faucets, rainwater harvesting systems, or water-efficient landscaping.

Or be hugged by nature in some more unusual and quirky spots. Your delegates will be amazed by the stunning country or coastal views as well as some of the recycled / upcycled furniture!

By selecting greener venues, you can reduce the environmental impact of your event and support sustainable practices in the local community.

Let's make a positive impact on the planet with our event choices! 🌎💚 Visit Belfast Biz Green Tourism

Responsible and sustainable Events TIP # 1

🌍 Let's make our events more sustainable by reducing food waste! Did you know that wasted food contributes to greenhouse gas emissions and harms the environment? By tackling this issue, we can conserve resources, fight hunger, save money, and create a cleaner, greener future. Here's how we can do it:

1. Plan Ahead: Estimate the number of attendees to avoid overordering. Perhaps ask delegates in advance if they intend to stay for lunch or refreshment breaks.

2. Choose Sustainable Menus: Collaborate with caterers who already prioritise and promote sustainability. Use unused fruit from day one, to produce smoothies on day two. Try introducing a vegetarian menu.

3. Donate Surplus Food: Donate untouched food to local food banks. Offer whole fruits rather than platters to allow food to be redistributed post event.

4. Educate: Spread the word amongst attendees, exhibitors and volunteers about the importance of reducing food waste not only at events but in our homes.

Small changes can make our events enjoyable and sustainable! 🌱✨ Let's reduce food waste and make a positive impact on the environment, fight hunger, and inspire others to follow suit. Together, we can create a better future. 🌍🎉
