Since opening its doors in 2014, nearly 260000 people have visited the Duncairn Centre for Culture and Arts. Not only has the centre been huge boost for the arts in north Belfast, but it has also greatly contributed to the regeneration of the area. The new £3.5million Arts Centre is north Belfast’s first and only dedicated arts centre and provides a world class facility consisting of 3 art studio/

office spaces, an exhibition area, a community meeting room, a 190 seater theatre/performance area, a café/bistro and conference rooms. The Duncairn runs an exciting and extensive arts programme for the community every year, and the complex is home to more than a dozen autonomous groups catering for around 800 people every week. Located in the heart of north Belfast, we create the opportunity for everyone in the community to have access to and engage with high quality arts and cultural programmes regardless of their social or cultural background. The Duncairn embraces a strong ethos of cross community inclusion to ensure that all sections of society feel welcome and valued while gaining the maximum benefits from involvement in creative community activity, arts, culture and heritage projects.

Duncairn Centre Donation Based Drop-In Yoga Class – Tuesday 21st January 5.30-6.45pm

A gentle class focusing on breath led mindful movements, finishing with a nurturing guided relaxation. The class is suitable for anyone over 16 years old.

Please bring a cosy blanket for the relaxation and a yoga mat if you have one – there will be a limited number available at the class.

As this is a drop-in donation-based class, there is no need to book – you just turn up on the night and pay what you can afford.

The class will be taught by Justine Brown, Yoga & Movement Therapist.

Over the moon to have the amazing play on her Irish tour on 1st May 🫶Tickets on sale tomorrow at 9am

Carsie Blanton is a songwriter with hooks, chutzpah, and revolutionary optimism. Inspired by artist-activists including Nina Simone and Woody Guthrie, her catalog careens through American popular song from folk and swing to pop-punk protest anthems. 

With a unique mix of humor, political wit, and fifteen-plus years on the road, Blanton has amassed a dedicated fan base and a small menagerie of viral hits (Rich People, Ugly Nasty Co**ie Bitch, Fishin’ With You). In 2024 she released two albums: After the Revolution (produced by Grammy-winner Tyler Chester) andThe Red Album (an acoustic EP of protest songs).

Derry, Jack performs songs in both Irish and English. His compositions and selections are steeped in storytelling, as he embraces the lineage of folk music in its truest form. Excited for the return of The Ocelots here @theduncairn on Saturday 15th February! @theocelotsmusic are twin brothers Ashley and Brandon Watson from Wexford, Ireland. Building on the folk-rock essence of their debut, the duo are excited to announce the release of their second album, Everything, When Said Slowly, on February 7th 2025. This album unveils a richer, more expansive sound, produced by long-time collaborators Cillian and Lorcan Byrne (Ailbhe Reddy, Susan O’Neill). The narrative woven throughout the album explores themes of Irish migration, the perception of time, love, and the simple joys of cycling.  To support the album, the band are delighted to take to the road in the UK & Ireland for a string of dates around its release.

The “Therapy Session” event on Sat 11th Jan will feature music, poetry and spoken word. Wren Day came early this year as @levis_corner_house_ballydehob gave us a taste of the annual Straw Boy procession that is held in their village every 26th December. With masks created by artist Sonia Caldwell with our local community, plus music and mumming by West Cork musicians, the craic was so mighty we might have to host our own Lá an Dreoilín this year @theduncairn ! And that draws to a close the takeover part of the Shared Island project “The Ties that Bind”, what an amazing festival created and curated by our friends in West Cork, and a shining example of what magic can happen when it is encouraged to. We hope all 36 visitors get back home safe and well with fond memories of their time in North Belfast! @creativeireland @corkcountycouncil @belfastcitycouncil
