Speak to almost anyone in the know up North about the jungle & dnb scene in Belfast and they're more than likely going to mention Crilli. The brand and club night hosted by residents Bad Operator, Artois and Blarney has been running events across NI for approaching 20 years.

Holding down a residency at the renowned Ulster Sports Club in Belfast for the past five of those, the trio are also behind the summertime all-day outdoor party "Crilli DNB and Friends" at Laverys Shipyard. Through the years the trio have welcomed a who's who of underground legends to Belfast including the likes of Goldie, Tim Reaper, DJ Hazard, Sam Binga and DJ Marky, many of them appearing in the city for the first time under the Crilli banner.

The Crilli lads make their Sandinos debut on Friday 28th February, with residents Bad Operator, Blarney and warm-up regular Bockee taking over the decks all night at Friday Grooves.

Crilli DNB presents DJ Marky.

Wow, what a night. We'll let the pictures do the talking, but a big thank you to everyone who attended our 19th Birthday celebrations with Dj Marky - we had an absolute ball.

We've a few things to announce over the coming months, gonna be a big year!

Thanks to everyone that made this one happen, but especially to Liam & Jasmine our wonderful door staff, and to Boyler for capturing the night so perfectly.

Tonight we celebrate 19 years of Crilli nights, welcoming our man from Brazil - DJ Marky - to Belfast for the first time in around 20 years.

We've had our ups and downs doing our thing but feel incredibly grateful and privileged to still be going.

It's not easy running these shows, but they are incredibly rewarding in general. Without the 'scene' and support we've received from all of you, Crilli would have been gone a long time ago. You might have seen this graphic from Concrete Junglists or similar floating around this week, which sums up *a lot of, but not even all of* the costs people like us face in order to run a club night. It's certainly the case that budgets are always tight, and it's forever a toss up of keeping tickets as cheap and accessible as we can, while hoping that we don't lose a ton of money bringing great acts to our city from underpricing. 

We're in a solid place right now, booking the artists we've loved and admired all our lives. It's tough going but Belfast deserves to continue to have great DNB acts passing through our city. Tonight has the potential to be our best show ever - it's DJ Marky after all!! 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷

Big thanks as always to all of you who help us along the way. Don't be wearing anything too flashy tonight, it's gonna get sweaty in here! See you on the dancefloor later!

We ring in 19 years of doing our thing with a long-time favourite for all of us at Crilli HQ, and one of the most vibrant characters on the international DJ circuit. All the way from Brazil, it's DJ Marky!

Hailing from Sao Paulo, Marky is the spearhead of a Brazilan drum and bass movement which first rose to popularity in the early 2000s. He was already a well-established touring DJ when “LK (Carolina Carol Bela)” made dancefloors smile ear to ear with it’s infectious, feel-good latin guitar hook. The track peaked at number 17 in the UK charts and is a standout moment in DNB’s history books, spawning a whole wave of samba sampling DNB in the process.

Marky is regarded by many as dnb’s true showman. When he steps behind the decks he has a smile and larger-than-life stage presence that can light up any room. Someone with a fierce reputation on the Technics 1210s, he is renowned for his dizzying scratch routines and turntable party tricks alongside killer selections. His reputation extends well beyond the dnb confines as a cult favourite across the wider clubbing world. Not many dnb DJs get to share a stage with French house legend Laurent Garnier, after all.

Reaching almost 30 years in the business, Marky continues to release, collaborate and tour the world, spreading that liquid sunshine wherever he goes. He’s a regular collaborator with the likes of Makoto, S.P.Y. and Pola & Bryson, with close allies in everyone from V Recordings main man Bryan Gee to Belfast hero Calibre. Essentially, if there’s a big new tune around, Marky is going to have it.

We can’t think of a better way to celebrate our birthday than by bringing the latin heat to Belfast for a night of musical sunshine and good vibes. We’d love you all to be there and quite frankly you’d be mad to miss this one.
