Back for 2024 – Opera-lele warmly invites you to join them for their updated Opera-lele Christmas Show which is suitable for all the family. The show will feature sizzling operatic highlights alongside festive favourites and carols for all to sing and play along. Come along and get that festive feeling at the jolliest singalong in town! It’s the sure-fire way to sprinkle some sparkling seasonal spirit on a dark December day.

Opera-lele is a unique comedy music act specialising in performing music from opera and musical theatre accompanied by the emotionally powerful yet understated twang of their ukuleles! Having trained as singers at the Royal College of Music and Goldsmiths College in London, George Bartle and Amanda Harkett have gone on individually to forge careers for themselves as entertainers of the highest calibre.

Proctor's Fair, which has been coming to Belper for more than a hundred years, is back in town!
The fabulous FAIRGROUND MODEL SHOW, organised as always by Belper's fairground historian, Neil Calladine returns with the Fair - this is its 10th year at No28!. A room full of miniature, fully working, automated fairground rides, vintage and modern. A treat for all ages!
And No28 Cafe too! We'll be doing cobs, jacket potatoes and salads as well our usual freshly made coffee and cake - so COME FOR LUNCH!

Still Life Photography: Pop-up Art School: Wed 04 Dec: book now!
THIS COURSE IS FOR EVERYONE, INCLUDING BEGINNERS
BUT IS PARTICULARLY SUITED TO ARTISTS TAKING PHOTOS OF THEIR OWN WORK.
WHAT WILL BE COVERED ON THE COURSE?
A quick look at examples of still life photography
Equipment needs- how to get or make low cost lighting, backgrounds, props, reflectors.
Hard and soft light
Modifying light
Some simple camera settings to enhance your still lives.

WHAT WILL YOU ACHIEVE BY THE END OF THE COURSE?
All learners will be able to take good quality still life photographs using a basic studio they can build themselves.

WHAT TO BRING WITH YOU
A working digital camera. Learners can do this workshop with a mobile phone camera, but it is more aimed toward those with DSLR/mirrorless/compact cameras.
A tripod (not essential)
Pen and paper if they wish to take notes.
All participants will also need to bring 2-3 objects to photograph. This can be something from their home, for example a childs’ toy, a bottle of perfume, a model, a pot-plant or flower etc etc.

WORKSHOP LEADER JON LEGGE
Jon Legge is a photographer and photography teacher with over twenty years experience. He currently holds the post of senior instructor on the Coventry University photography programme, and has designed and run courses all over the East Midlands and beyond. He holds a Masters degree in photography and a postgraduate teaching certificate.
