Tony Hall charity Portrait Booth at No28's Farmers Market Cafe Sat 13 Dec 9-1pm
The price of your portrait is a rec minimum donation of £15 plus eventbrite fee, but feel free to add to this figure as Belper Food and Community Hub will get every penny (after Eventbrite fee).

Tony Hall, well known from his stunning exhibition of portraits at No28 this time last year, is offering 15 minute sittings through the morning, during the course of the No28 Farmers Market Café.You need to book to be sure of a sitting. When you have booked you will be notified of a time slot some time between 9am and 1pm. Portraits will be either a gouache/watercolour painting, which you can take away with you, or an ipad (digital) drawing which we'll send to you after the event.
All proceeds to BELPER FOOD + COMMUNITY HUB after Eventbrite fee.

Take time out to reconnect this Winter Solstice and join Reya for a delicious few hours of gathering in circle with sacred cacao, shaking out your body in free movement for an Ecstatic Dance, then grounding and socialising with each other over a bring and share lunch.
This time of year can be so busy, it's important to make sure we re-energise and recharge ourselves with nourishing practices. Cacao is the perfect ally for this - helping us to tune into our heartspace as well as giving us physical energy for the dance! We'll sit in circle with this sacred drink and set our intentions before moving into the dance journey. The cacao we will be sharing is from the Central Highlands of Peru, grown and lovingly harvested by Asháninka families. At the end of the music I'll hold a mini sound bath so that we are all fully rested and ready to emerge into the light!
I'll be playing an uplifting, energetic set of tunes guaranteed to help you shake off your fatigue and set you up for the holiday season! Ecstatic dance is an unfacilitated, free movement practice that offers a space for you to connect deeply with your inner world and to let the body move how it wishes in a safe, held space. I curate a soundscape that allows you to flow between movement, stillness, chaos and peace.
There are some contraindications for drinking cacao. The festive season rolls around again, and - in Belper - that means three things : Lights switch-on at the Market Place, "It's a Wonderful Life" at the Ritz, and a pair of strange old men presenting a random selection of seasonal movies, clips, erudite learning*, and questionable attempts at "humour" up at No28.
Yes, it's time for that annual chore - HODSON AND MINION'S CHRISTMAS CAVALCADE!
If you can't think of anything better to do, join famed pianist Professor John Hodson, and noted Christmasologist Dr Andy Minion as they look at early film depictions of the Nativity, show some rarely seen treasures of the film archives of the University of Texas and Mexico's Cineteca Nacional, and throw in some seasonal music, beautiful craft ideas to enhance any home, and a quiz!
Tickets include light bites - BRING YOUR OWN DRINKS.
Pretty good value for 15 quid - which is all going to our favourite charity, Medicinema, anyway!

Bring your broken bits and well-loved items back to life with the help of our amazing volunteer repairers and sewers.
We’ve got:
- Small electrical repairs
- Sewing & mending
- General fixes
- And plenty of homemade cake!
It’s all completely free, donations welcome if you can.

Join us once a month for a relaxing evening getting creative, expressing yourself and connecting with others.
Our monthly group is an opportunity to take some time out, explore your creativity, and express your thoughts, feelings and ideas around themes related to mental health and wellbeing.
These sessions are for you if:
- You need a wellbeing boost
- You are struggling with your mental health
- You want a space to reflect and express yourself
- You enjoy being creative
- You don't think you are creative but would like to try something new
- You'd like to meet other people from the local community
Each session there is a theme that we will all explore using the creative materials provided. These will normally include pens, pencils, pastels, and a range of collage materials. No art experience or skill is needed. It's all about expressing yourself, there's no right or wrong.
The sessions are run by trained facilitators who are there to support you.
The sessions are available to all adults 18+
