I make a little hamper filled with jam, marmalade, chutney and honey as a gift for my dad. It's feels extra special as the preserves are all made locally and the honey is from hives in Little Gaddesden.
How about a little hand made wooden snowman as a stocking filler? or a locally baked Christmas cake, beautifully iced as a show stopper on Christmas day.

We are enjoying a bountiful harvest and have brought lots to the stall today.
A selection of squashes, beans and apples (including the 'Berkhamsted' apple) and this seasons first batch of chutney and piccalilli. Beautiful seasonal local flowers and autumnal wreaths here too.

This week took me to Hereford and a visit to a local market. When I travel around rural England it's always so apparent that we miss out on such a choice of locally grown produce living the the home counties. In Hereford were a range of local apple, plum & squash varieties. They benefit from the surrounding farms in a way that we don't in our part of the country.
That's why I always passionately promote our local market and team of bakers and growers. They bring a selection of products to Berkhamsted that would never normally be available on the High Street.

As the season changes, our weekly offerings follow this change. With our local flowers, we are still enjoying the last of the dahlias, but the colours are becoming muted and pretty asters and sedums are creeping in with seed heads and grasses. We have autumnal door wreaths made from freshly harvested sedums. A welcome sight on a cold autumn day.
