The lights went down for a final time last week at Bewdley Film Club and ironically the last film we showed was The Last Picture Show (1971) d. Peter Bogdanovich. Thanks to everybody who has helped over the past ten years -
from the volunteers who put the chairs out, to the projectionists, the ladies who run the bar, the team that programme the films and to St George's Hall Bewdley for giving us a chance to show our films and of course to everybody who came to watch the films 🥲. We hope you enjoyed the films and maybe watched something that surprised or moved you, that you wouldn’t have watched if we didn’t have the film club. We hope that one of the Thursday night film slots at Bewdley Cinema is going to be dedicated to foreign and independent films in the future. Thanks to everybody invoved.

Our film next Thursday (15th February) is the heartwarming origin story for the 1971 classic W***y Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. The new film 'Wonka' (PG) stars Timothée Chalamet as an innocent who dreams of opening a magical chocolate factory in a city that violently rejects his new ideas. Hugh Grant and Olivia Colman play key roles in his story.
The Evening Standard critic gave it five out of five stars saying: "Timothée Chalamet is simply scrumptious in this rollicking sweet treat but the flawless ensemble cast, including Hugh Grant as an Ooompa Loompa and, Olivia Colman as Wonka's scenery devouring, landlady, bring the film to life."
Booking is online here: https://www.thehall-bewdley.org.uk/cinema-in-the-hall or at the St George's Hall office during café opening hours. Alternatively call the office on 01299 400110.
Doors to the café bar will open on Thursday at 6:45pm and the film will start without preamble or promotions at 7:30pm prompt.
