The Old Barn

Did you know ... that during the festive season The Old Barn gets turned into a winter wonderland! The oak beams, cob walls and vine covered conservatory make a truly stunning setting for The Magic of Christmas at The Milky Way. On selected dates during December guests to the park are invited to journey through the magical snowy forest to Buzzlewick’s Elf Emporium in the barn to meet Buzzlewick the Elf and friends, have a go at gingerbread decorating, write a letter to Santa, sit in Santa's sleigh and make reindeer food. Plus, those with special tickets can visit Santa in his cosy Christmas Cottage for a jolly chat and then choose a fabulous festive gift from Buzzlewick's Toy Shop. And there's more … all visitors to The Milky Way at Christmas can look forward to visiting the garland-festooned train station made merry with festive music and giant Christmas tree for a hot chocolate to enjoy on the Festive Train ride. Plus, keep an eye out for Santa’s naughty elves as you make your way around the park - their mischievous antics are bound to give you a chuckle! Then sit back and take in a special themed show created by Merlin just for the season. Of course, there’s also lots of other all-weather rides, shows and attractions which will ensure you have a wonderfully festive family day out this December! Autumn weddings are just beautiful in North Devon’s The Old Barn, thanks to the red-gold-orange hues of the vines in our conservatory, and the rustic feel lent by the original wooden beams and whitewashed walls. It’s a beautiful time of year to get married (and Princess Eugenie clearly agrees!). You’ve the whole year as a buildup, the hustle and bustle of summer is past and Christmas will follow soon after. Temperatures can be mild and the days sunny well into late October here in North Devon – but with an autumn wedding good weather is a bonus, not a central part of your plans, so if it’s not so sunny there’s no disappointment. Prices for many parts of your wedding are often lower, too – including hire of The Old Barn. How would your Devon autumnal wedding be here at The Old Barn? Earthy or ethereal?
