What a fabulous way to end 2024. I've just married Julie and Pierre, who came all the way from Strasbourg with their wee daughter Anastasia, and about 30 of their family - on a very wild and windy Arthur's Seat. Anastasia was ring bearer and also helped wonderfully with the handfasting. All in French of course. Bonne Annee and happy Hogmanay to this lovely couple.

With just one more wedding to go in 2024 (yes, it's a Hogmanay one up on Arthur's Seat ...), I'm sending a huge thank you and much love to all the couples I've had the pleasure of marrying in 2024 - here are just a few of them!

There is a reason why people have brilliant photographers at their weddings rather than just depending on us and our wee phones - sharing some of my favourites from Adam Luto Photography's beautiful pictures of Tilly and Ali's wedding at Borthwick Castle on 14th December ...

I don't think you can really say being a celebrant is a job - it's just far too much fun. Dawn and David, who both have very sensible grown up jobs in real life, were married today in a shooting themed wedding (perhaps I should have worn a flak jacket?).
Their wedding arch proclaimed them to have 'Gone Stalking'. I managed to find possibly the only rifle-themed wedding reading in existence, part of which reads 'Your marriage should match the natural alignment as a rifle in your arms, without too much push or pull in either direction, a perfect balance.'
We had fabulous reasons from not only Dawn and David, but also David's daughter Libby, as to why they should get married (these included a frying pan - you had to be there ...)
We managed whisky from the quaich rather than a hipflask, and only one gundog, the lovely Isla, was present (and behaved beautifully).
But best of all were the zombies - the guests went straight from the ceremony to a laser zombie shoot out, which I would have loved to stay for but couldn't.
With huge thanks to Kevin and Michelle of Ednam House Hotel, who were bang on target and scored a bullseye with their wonderful wedding planning (geddit?).
Huge congratulations to Dawn and David, and thank you for letting me be part of your day!

OK, here I am at Ednam House in Kelso for the first of my three December weddings, and these guys are on the guest list!...

My fourth last wedding of 2024 took place yesterday at the lovely Royal College of Physicians in Edinburgh, where Kirsty and Colvin finally tied the knot after nineteen years, complete with their wee boy Brodie and their lovely dog Oscar, who both behave beautifully throughout.
We had an autumn cornucopia of symbolic gestures, with ring warming, toasting each other with brandy and gingerale from the quaich, and a beautiful flower ceremony. The guests all gave a carnation, a chrysanthemum or a gerbera, symbolising love and admiration, innocence and optimism, friendship and honesty, making a wonderfully special bouquet for Kirsty and Colvin.
I just wish my phone was working better, as my pix definitely don't do this beautiful day justice!
Huge congratulations to Mr and Mrs Cruickshank.

I recently had the privilege of marrying Hayley and Matthew at the lovely Hotel du Vin in Glasgow, and what a beautiful day it was. Gorgeous autumn colours everywhere, including the signing table and Hayley's veil. This lovely couple were handfasted and also toasted each other with a very special whisky from the quaich. Charlie the ringbearer wasn't quite so enthusiastic, and found a small corner to hide in, but came up trumps when he was needed! Congratulations to a wonderful couple.

Wednesday saw the beautiful wedding of Nicola and David at lovely Cornhill Castle, along with their wee daughter Mirren who was wonderfully well behaved throughout. So many lovely touches, like the newspaper they created for the day, and napkins with Mirren and their dog's pawprints on them, for mucky pups. I tried to take artistic photographs, but perhaps that's better left to the professionals - however, I do like the staircase shot! What a beautiful dress ...
