PROUD of our PQA Wirral East 'Student Representatives' who attended the Red Carpet 'PQA Northern Film Festival' Cinema Screening in Sheffield on Sunday, where they collected our awards for our films: 'The Magical Wildlife Show,' 'The Witches,' 'Rally: Part 2', and 'Eerie Teddy'!

Things at the academy in recent months have been very busy, rehearsing for our West End performance; getting ready for our Christmas performances; and pushing to get our Film projects over the line before the festivities can really begin!

The whole team have been doing great and we are so proud, but the students in these pictures have stood out as our POW this term, so far!

We are thrilled to share that 33 of our talented clients have landed roles in the highly anticipated film Blitz, directed by Steve McQueen, starring Saorise Ronan, Harris Dickinson, and Benjamin Clementine! 🌟

Shoutout to our amazing students from PQA Harrogate, PQA Hull, PQA York, PQA Doncaster, PQA Sheffield, PQA Lincoln, PQA Leeds East, PQA Barnsley, PQA Halifax, PQA Stockport, PQA Wirral East, PQA Scarborough, PQA Wickford, PQA Chelmsford, PQA Milton Keynes, PQA Amersham, PQA Southend, and PQA Rochester, in collaboration with Sally King. 🙌

Blitz hits selected cinemas on November 1st and will be available on Apple TV+ from November 22nd! 🎥

THE NEWS IS OFFICIAL!

We are delighted to once again confirm that 4 of our films from our AM & PM PQA Wirral East sessions have been chosen to be shown at the PQA Northern Film Festival, along with two of our films from our sister academy at PQA Wirral West!

Our AWARD WINNING FILMS are as follows:

EAST AM & PM:
Magical Wildlife Show (Green)
Macbeth: The Witches (Blue & Red)
Eerie Teddy (Green)
Rally: Part 2 (Red)

WEST:
The Vlog (Red)
AI Education (Green & Blue)

It's great to be able to celebrate our students success in this module, after beating off some fierce competition from across the North, to become 6 out of the 70 films being shown, which were chosen from over 400 submissions from academies across the country!!

A BIG SHOUT OUT to our Film & TV Teams at PQA Wirral East and PQA Wirral West for all of their hard work, with special mention to Phil & Simon, our two Film & TV Teacher's!

These films will be shown at Flagship cinema, Cineworld Sheffield, on 24th November 2024, and we will be in touch with some of our students shortly, to ask them to represent the academy at this event!

All other PQA Wirral films will be shown soon at our next PQA Wirral Red Carpet Cinema Screening, which will be announced in due course!

10 BRILLIANT YEARS OF PQA WIRRAL!

When we started this whole thing back in 2014, we had no idea that we would be here 10 years on, with 3 fantastic academies, full to the brim of wonderful, kind, passionate, talented students, with so many incredible memories of all of the young people we have worked with, and the experiences we have shared within that time, not to mention the incredible staff and parents that have been with us, every step of the way, making all of this happen!

To everyone that has been with us on this journey - THANK YOU, and to everyone that is still with us, we are so lucky and grateful!

The Summer holidays are OVER, which means only one thing...it is time to get back to it at PQA Wirral East, with our morning academy starting at 945, and our afternoon academy at 145!

We have lots of FANTASTIC projects planned for all of our students this year, and we CANNOT WAIT to welcome everyone back!

For our 6-18yrs, Film & TV, Musical Theatre, and Comedy & Drama, and not to mention plenty of wild and wonderful adventures with our 4-5yrs Poppets class!

Miss it and you will miss out!

Not long now until we return to PQA Wirral! Hands up if you are excited? 🤩😍🤩

It is fantastic to be able to work with over 200 students across the Wirral, to help develop their creativity, communication and confidence! Not only that, but our student's get opportunities they can't find anywhere else, make life-long friendships, and create memories that are unrivalled!

We work hard at our academies to push our students to be the very best that they can be, and we are super proud of everything they achieve when they are with us, and beyond!

We now have 3 academies, running from and and if you aren't already on our waiting list for a place, what are you waiting for?

Musical Theatre, Film & TV and Acting, every Saturday for 6-18yrs, and our 90 minute, action packed, Poppets classes for our 4-5yrs.

We have LOADS coming up this year, and we cannot WAIT to get started!

I hope everyone is enjoying the break! 😀

We had a fantastic end to our 23/24, and although some of you were already away on your holidays (you lucky devils!) it was a lovely session to finish what has been another brilliant year!

As a recap on everything we achieved in 23/24...

At the start of our year we had a Masterclass with True Edge Stage Combat, and at the end of our first term, our AM Main Academy students took to the Chester Cathedral stage supporting G4 in concert, whilst our PM Main Academy students wowed audiences in their performance of Across The Line at His Majesty's Theatre in London's West End! Meanwhile, our Poppets took to the BHSA Studio Stage in their Poppets Christmas Showcase! Finally, we collected 6 awards at the Northern PQA Film Festival!

In term 2, students began rehearsals for their performance of TEN - a celebration of 10 years of PQA Wirral, and the performance took place at the Floral Pavilion Theatre to Family & Friends.

We finished the year with a fantastic performance of 'The Poppets of Oz' by our Poppets, and finalising projects for entry to the National PQA Film Festival, and we are now eagerly awaiting the results!!

We have been lucky to work with so many fantastic students this year, some of whom have been with us for a very long time and are now going onto the next chapter in their lives - we wish you well!

We have also had the pleasure of working with a fantastic team of teachers, and also saying farewell to some long standing staff members - Vicky who was our Poppets Teacher for 6 years, Lucy who joined us on day 1, chalking up 10 yrs at the academy, and we also said goodbye to Heather from our Film & TV Team.

Finally, my partner in crime, Vice Principal Rhian, after starting this with me in 2014, is taking a well earned break from the academy, and she has said to me herself that it hasn't quite sunk in yet. Rhian wanted me to pass on that she is going to miss everyone heaps and she has said it has been a joy to work with you all, and wanted to say a huge thank you for all of her gifts!

Whatever part you have played this year, THANK YOU! We are so tremendously grateful to have had your support and we could not do it without you!

24/25 - WE ARE COMING TO GET YOU!

As we near the end of term, and the end of our 23/24 academic year, Phil & the Film & TV Team have been working hard to get our submissions in for the PQA Northern Film Festival.

The festival will take place at Cineworld Sheffield on Sunday 24th November 2024, and different to our bi-annual cinema screening, PQA Wirral East & West will be competing with other academies from across the country, to have their films shown on the big screen, so keep your fingers crossed for an exciting announcement soon!
