Releases tomorrow.

Following last year's much lauded Kaliyuga Express debut 'Warriors & Masters', Nolla (Finnish psych/space rockers) & Mike Vest (Maximalist guitar guru, B**g, Blown Out, Drunk In Hell, Artifacts & Uranium, Modoki, Tomoyuki Trio, Mienakunaru etc) combine their visions once again and explore dark futuristic mindscapes.
They set their sights to the looming eons and gaze through an occult lens. Inspired by classic space rock, driving hypnotic krautrock and bleak synth soundscapes.
The ground was laid in improvised Nolla sessions and further ascended with gloomy prophecies and lyrical explorations by Ilkka and Otto. With Ohto’s assertive drums and Teemu's solid guitars the canvas was set for Mike to paint his transcendent multilayered guitars.
Bleak and overbearing sights are explored, but the future holds a speck of hope if you are prepared to embrace the darkness.

Released Friday 16th August on Riot Season Records.

Swedish psych warriors, Goat announce a new album. The band return with their third album in three years (fourth if you include The Gallows Pole score). Simply titled Goat, this new eight track album is being released on 11th October 2024 via Rocket Recordings.

Watch/share the single "Ouroboros" (radio edit) here:

The Ouroboros - the icon of the snake or dragon eating its own tail - appears to some a statement of the brutality of nature. To others of a Gnostic disposition it symbolises the duality of the divine and earthly in mankind. But most commonly, it’s taken simply to mean the endless cycles of death and rebirth that characterise life on this planet. As such, it’s an image that looms large in the world of Goat, the ever-mysterious and endlessly revivifying collective whose latest album marks another adventure above and beyond this particular plane of reality.

Goat – Ouroboros (Radio Edit) Original version can be found on the Goat album 'Goat' (Launch363) which is released on 11 October 2024.Buy LP/CD/DL: (NEW LINK...

Originally formed in 2015 as Black Atlas, the Hertfordshire-based quartet – born anew as Erronaut – are thrilled to announce the official worldwide release of their debut album, The Space Inbetween, this summer on London Doom Collective.

Consisting of vocalist/guitarist, Mikey Ward; fellow guitar slinger, Peter Hunt, bassist Simon Wilson, and drummer Sam Gates (whose arrival sparked this new iteration of the band) Erronaut’s singular sound has continued to evolve at every turn. Drawing inspiration from the iconic 70s rock of Black Sabbath and Pink Floyd, the 90s grunge of Soundgarden, and stoner metal of modern torchbearers Lowrider and Fu Manchu, the band seek to conquer new frontiers.

"When we sat down to start writing, we made a concerted effort to push and explore ourselves as artists and collaborators," explains vocalist Mikey Ward. "With the amount of work we've done to create it, we’re really proud of how this album has turned out, and we feel this is a real representation of what we are trying to achieve, both in the studio and as a live act on stage."

Employing heavy atmospheric rock to power lyrical subjects that focus on love, loss, and existential introspection, the dynamic foursome has well and truly delivered The Space Inbetween. Hook-laden guitars conjure soaring post-metal vistas and showcase a huge progression in their song writing. From the volatile cosmic sludge of ‘Way Down Below’ to the down-tuned, distorted environs of new single ‘Lost Cause’, the band crafts immersive sonic landscapes that transport listeners to distant realms.

The Space Inbetween is released via London Doom Collective on 30th August. 2024

Boston-based heavy metallers Cortez return with their fourth album "Thieves and Charlatans" on Ripple Music this October 18th.

The follow-up to 2020’s "Sell the Future", Cortez's new album "Thieves and Charlatans" demonstrates their ability to command a sound that is both classic-rooted and modern in its construction. Working in continued collaboration with producer Benny Grotto at Mad Oak Studio, and with the returning lineup of vocalist Matt Harrington, guitarists Scott O’Dowd and Alasdair Swan, bassist Jay Furlo and drummer Alexei Rodriguez (although he has since been replaced by Kyle Rasmussen).

The album features guest vocalists Craig Riggs (Kind, Roadsaw, Sasquatch, etc.) and Jim Healey (We’re All Gonna Die, Black Thai, Blood Lightning, etc.) and sees CORTEZ look forward as ever while regarding their past in a new way.

"We were a bit selfish while writing and recording this album,” says guitarist Scott O’Dowd. “There's probably one of our catchiest songs in ‘Gimme Danger (On My Stereo),’ and yet some of our longer, gloomier songs as well. There are also more complex guitar and vocal arrangements than in the past."

“This album is an anomaly of sorts because these songs were written and recorded in a vacuum, during a pandemic,” reminds vocalist Matt Harrington. “Cortez has never been shy about playing new songs before they are released, and this is the first time we didn't have the filter of an audience. I feel like this is a more personal record as a result. We wrote these songs as friends in a room that no longer exists, holding onto something real in a prolonged period of extreme doubt, and we present them in the same way."

Psychlona unveil new video single 'Jasmine' taken from the forthcoming new album "Warped Vision" out September 27, 2024 on Magnetic Eye Records.

PSYCHLONA comment: "This track is referred to by Izak's brother as 'the best song that you've ever played bass on' and 'Jasmine' is indeed a heavily thick-stringed affair", drummer Scott Frankling reveals on behalf of the band. "I even venture to unashamedly call it a head-nodding chug-athon. We just immediately fell into it and the whole song came together quite easily – even the dueling guitar bit."
The video 'Jasmine' was filmed en route to, from and at the Stoned from the Underground Festival, Alperstedter See, Germany in July 2024. Featuring Cameos by High Desert Queen, Lowrider, Greenleaf, and a red kite.

The ex-Fu Manchu and Nebula founding musician Ruben Romano's debut solo album "Twenty Graves Per Mile" is out now on Desert Records.

Watch the official music video for "Sweet Dreams Cowboy" here:

“Sometimes a bad situation creates a great result! We entered the high desert not really knowing what to film when the temperature was really high, 116° to be exact! The concept for “Sweet Dreams Cowboy” happened by chance, to sweetly dream of wandering the open space of the desert, stumble upon a ghost town casino and hit the grand jackpot. An ultimate dream indeed and yes!, it really did happen! The 116° temperature really did make for deserted scenes as no one else was stupid enough to be out and exposed, so we had the outdoor places like the Indian Cove campground all to ourselves to work and walk around the rock formations. Also, we did find a tribal gaming casino way out there where my wife really did win on some free play credits. Due to her winnings, she took me up to Pappy & Harriet’s roadhouse to celebrate with a few rounds at their bar. The western town there was also almost deserted due to the heat, So the whole thing did happen while stumbling around the desert! The dream actually did come true!” -Ruben Romano

Philadelphia and Delaware-based heavy purveyors HIGH REEPER share their new single and video for "Alluring Violence". Their third album "Renewed By Death" will be issued on October 4th through HEAVY PSYCH SOUNDS.

Three years after appearing on the "Doom Sessions Vol.5" split, HIGH REEPER are back with their most ambitious album yet. “Renewed By Death” is a true heavy metal assault: eight tracks that take you on a journey to the darkest depths and leave you there to rot, featuring monolithic riffs that pummel you from the opening of the album to the close, guitar solos reminiscent of George Lynch and Dave Navarro, and powerful vocals that deliver a knockout blow.

About this new song, vocalist Zach Thomas says: "In an interview in 1992 Cormac McCarthy said 'There is no such thing as life without bloodshed.' Simple on its surface but it has stuck with me throughout the entire writing process of Renewed By Death and inspired the title itself. The layers of this quote, peeled back, speaks so much more to humanity. We fear death yet we’re obsessed with it. It’s embedded into our being. It finds as much comfort in our household as it does on a battlefield because we’re infatuated with it. “Alluring Violence” is about that infatuation. The human obsession with violence." The video was directed by Dan Dome.

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

For their 26th album, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard swap the widescreen concepts of their recent albums for the intimacy of six good friends collaborating on the most bonhomie-laden set they’ve yet committed to wax. For Flight b741, bandleader Stu Mackenzie says King Gizzard “wanted to make something that was primal, instinctual, more ‘from the gut’ – just people in a room, doing what feels right. We wanted to make something fun.”

Tapping into the country-fried 70s American rock on which they were all raised – along with the ornery garage-rock roots from which their mighty discography sprang – Flight b741 is lightning caught inside a bottle. Across its 10 ragged, glorious barnburners, King Gizzard flesh out rough skeletons of songs with their inspired improvisations, inimitable grooves and a unique pass-the-mic approach to vocals that saw every member of the band raise their voice and sing. “We’re having a lot of fun, but we’re often singing about some pretty heavy sh*t,” Mackenzie adds, “and probably hitting on some deeper, more universal themes than usual. It’s not a sci-fi record, it’s about life and stuff. But the record is like a really fun weekend with your mates, you know? Like, proper fun.”

Cult Californian stoner rock band HERMANO (fronted by Kyuss vocalist John Garcia) announce the release of their new collection entitled "when the moon was high..." on Ripple Music this October 4th, featuring their first new music in fifteen years. Stream their brand new song "Breathe" on all streaming platforms now!

New album "when the moon was high..." brings the moons of HERMANO back into alignment. As they embarked on the remix/remaster/reissue of their entire back catalog on Ripple Music, a new song emerged: "Breathe". During this process, the band uncovered some valuable material while revisiting tapes, drives, and cherished memories accumulated over their 26 years of friendship. Taking back claim to the territory they had charted years ago, the upcoming limited-edition release of "when the moon was high..." features the first new music released by the band in fifteen years.

While the band had continued to write and perform on each other’s projects during the last decade and a half, "when the moon was high..." showcases the sticky-sweet and heavy blues riffs and tones that are unique to these five musicians when they come together under the HERMANO banner. The new single "Breathe" was recorded in 2023 and travels back to the band’s first release, filled with the same swagger and heavy hand as the band’s initial offerings, reinforcing the band's undeniable impact upon modern heavy rock, stoner rock, and driving blues genres.

“We are so incredibly thankful to be able to bring new music to both new fans and those who have followed Hermano for the last twenty-six years. We are eagerly looking forward to continuing this reissues and special editions journey with Ripple Music, so hang onto your hats because we have a lot more coming and a long way to go. Breathing new life into our catalog and having the opportunity to release special new music like "Breathe" is an especially 'dream-come-true' time for all of us. For that, and to all who have continued to stay interested, thank you.” - John, Dave, Mike, Chris and Dandy

The House of Pain is a preview of the second studio album of Las Historias.
“After a month in the jail, I was able to see the sun again and compose this Rock and Roll album”.
These demos were recorded and mixed by Tomas in Laboulaye, Argentina at The House of Pain in the summer of 2023. Recorded with only two sm57, except "The Way I Am" and "Nomad" which were recorded with only one mic because these were the last songs composed, they are the first takes!
“After that I lost my guitar so I couldn't continue recording.. tragic story but I will get that beautiful stratocaster back!”
Thanks to The House of Pain for making this possible! Released 2nd August.

Much curiosity was aroused when Karisma Records recently announced the details of the upcoming album from Swedish Prog Rockers RITUAL. Primarily because this was to be the band's first release in 17 years, but also because the title The Story of Mr. Bogd – Part 1, implied that therein there is a tale to be told!

And indeed there is, because, as fans of the band will know, RITUAL are quite adept at storytelling, as their previous five albums have shown, and this time they have chosen to tell the tale of Mr Bogd, an affluent, well-established member of society who comes to the realisation that his life holds no satisfaction for him. But what else can he do? Well, he can leave his job and his comfortable urban life and seek out an alternative.

So, together with his coachman Parkhurst, and, riven with doubts, but convinced of the rightness of what he is doing, off he sets on a journey through an increasingly wild and dangerous environment.

And now, thanks to the vivid imagination of artist Javier “Canelito” Herbozo, we are being afforded not just a musical glimpse into The Story of Mr. Bogd – Part 1, but also a visual one, in the form of a Video Trailer.

Ritual - "The Story of Mr. Bogd - Part 1" releases 16th August via Karisma Records.

With their third album on Heavy Psych Sounds, Alunah have wasted no time in a post-pandemic haze since their last release, balancing being on the European festival circuit alongside touring the UK. However, in a Birmingham rehearsal room away from the outside world, everyday life and online noise, their latest full-length "Fever Dream" has been quietly brewing waiting to see the light of day.

Forged from a period of extensive jamming and soul searching "Fever Dream" digs into the core of what makes Alunah tick, being in a room together making the music they want to hear. Recorded during the winter of 2024, the atmosphere of the historic Foel Studio allows the groove to flow alongside riff, heft and melody in equal measure. The brooding progressive majesty of the title track, the eastern soundscape of "Sacred Grooves" and the doom and roll of "Far From Reality" each highlight the album's ability to surprise and deliver in equal measure throughout the emotive journey of its nine tracks. Let yourself fall deep into the "Fever Dream".

"Fever Dream" was produced by Chris Fielding (Electric Wizard, Conan), with an artwork by Stefán Ari (The Vintage Caravan). It will be released on September 20th on vinyl, CD and digital, with preorders available now through Heavy Psych Sounds.

Oakland stoner metal trio WhiteWitch Canyon have just reissued their long out-of-print 2008 self-titled debut album as part of the Ripple Music's revered "Beneath The Desert Floor" vinyl series.

Following the Glitter Wizard and The Awesome Machine album reissues, Ripple Music keeps forging ahead with their "Beneath The Desert Floor" vinyl series, unearthing long-lost treasures from the early days of stoner rock. This third chapter presents the unique album from Oakland-based stoner doom trio WHITE WITCH CANYON. With enough fuzz in their DNA to shake the earth, "White Witch Canyon" is nine groove-laden earworms filled with muscular bluesy overtones and a powerful swagger reminiscent of early Monster Magnet and Soundgarden.

30/07/2024

Legions Of Doom the doom metal supergroup to release debut album on Tee P*e Records.

Where does The Skull end and Legions of Doom begin? The answer might be “right here.” Welcome to The Skull 3. The 2021 passing of revered doom metal legend Eric Wagner looms large over Legions of Doom’s debut.

“Eric had this file on his computer labelled ‘New Skull Record’,” explains close friend and former trouble bassist, Ron Holzner, who – alongside guitarist, Lothar Keller – picked up on the responsibility of shaping material that would’ve featured on Wagner’s third full-length with The Skull, completely anew.

“With his lyrics allotted to these songs. I was lucky that his family was able to access the computer and share it with me,” Holzner continues. “There were extra lyrics and verses that I used to finish them. I wrote most of the words to ‘Lost Soul,’ but I’m so happy that they were able to access the computer and pass along everything Eric did to me.”

With the blessing of Wagner’s family and the roots of his involvement uncovered, Legions of Doom shifted further into supergroup territory to fully celebrate Wagner’s life and creativity. Welcomed into the fold for The Skull 3 are drummer Henry Vasquez (Saint Vitus, Pentagram, Blood of The Sun), guitarist Scott Little (Leadfoot) and vocalists; Karl Agell (Lie Heavy, Leadfoot, Blind-era Corrosion of Conformity) and Scott Reagers (original frontman of Saint Vitus).

While featuring Wagner’s spirit, not to mention his vocals on the track ‘Heaven’, Legions of Doom is more than just a tribute. Just as The Skull built on the legacy of its component members – Keller’s contributions to song writing have always been the secret weapon, and one that remains as true as ever on The Skull 3. More of a debut than a lost album by The Skull, the persona of Legions of Doom is immediately distinguished through the vocal performances of Reagers and Agell. Yes, it’s classic doom by veterans who helped define the form, but Legions of Doom are vibrant in their revelry, and sound like a band with more to say.

“Lothar and I wrote eighty percent of the record with Eric prior to him passing away,” explains Holzner. “Karl, Henry and especially Scott Reagers wanted to finish it. Scott really didn’t want The Skull to end and insisted that we continue, as well as doing Legions of Doom. But the latter will be the new focus from here on out and The Skull will play once in a while. Lo and I finished the record with a collaboration from David Snyder (Trouble, Blackfinger) on our new single, ‘All Good Things’. And we wrote the newest song ‘Lost Soul’ with Henry. We also reworked Eric’s acoustic song ‘Heaven’ to go with his recorded vocals. The cover art was done by the legendary David V. D’Andrea at Samaritan Press. I told him I wanted something to represent moving on from The Skull and being reborn in Legions of Doom…”

The Skull 3 is released 13th September 2024 via Tee P*e Records.

Wizard Tattoo, the Indianapolis-based progressive metal project by multi-instrumentalist Bram the Bard, returns with the compelling new concept EP Living Just For Dying, set for release on July 26, 2024. Picking up where Fables of the Damned left off, this release delves into the mind of an aging protagonist, exploring themes of memory, madness, and imagination.

Building on the distinctive sound established in previous works, Living Just For Dying combines influences from classic rock, grunge, progressive rock, and jazz, adding a unique twist to its dark narrative. The EP features the talents of Djinnifer, who lends her captivating vocals to the prog rock track "The Wizard Who Loved Me," and Fausto Auerlius, who delivers a powerful performance on the black metal song "Tomorrow Dies."

The EP is bookended by the mainly acoustic title track "Living Just For Dying" and "Sanity's Eclipse," which opens acoustically before transforming into an instrumental classic rock piece. From the introspective "Living Just For Dying" to the apocalyptic "Tomorrow Dies," listeners are taken on a journey through a realm where reality and fantasy blur. "Sanity's Eclipse" captures the struggle of discerning reality from dreams after a great battle, while "The Wizard Who Loved Me" explores themes of love, betrayal, and vengeance.

On the Sabbath!

On this day 49 years ago Black Sabbath released Sabotage, their sixth studio album on 28th of July 1975. It was written and recorded during a time of litigation and legal woes with their former management, hence the title.

"So, much of the time, when we weren't onstage or in the studio, we were in lawyers' offices trying to get out of all our contracts. We were literally in the studio, trying to record, and we'd be signing all these affidavits and everything. That's why we called it Sabotage -- because we felt that the whole process was just being totally sabotaged by all these people ripping us off."

RidingEasy Records.

Of the plethora of touted “private press hard rock monsters” out there, very few live up to the swaggering riff-fury of west coast blasters ODA. Commonly known as the “Black Album,” the first clobbering platter by the quartet was released on their own tiny Loud Phonograph Records imprint and now commands large sums–but is actually worth the heavy hype. The band naturally centered around Randy Oda, a multi-talented ax shredder and keyboardist, and the lineup was filled out by his brother Kevin on drum assault, Art Pantoja on lead bellows and rhythm guitar, and galloping bassist Kyle Schneider.

Available to pre-order now, releases August 16, 2024.
