Global Action Day takes place in over 25 countries today. New Zealand will kick off proceedings at 8pm local time (8am UK time) & from there will pass the baton around the world! We are excited to be invloved.

The Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) has confirmed that smaller business and training events up to 30 can continue at Covid secure venues.

The total of 30 covers everyone involved in the event, including any venue or event crew in the same room. It does not allow an event for 30 delegates with staff and crew in addition.

Thanks to the HBAA, for clarifying, here is a summary of the changes and rules from Thursday in England:



• The planned reopening of conferences, exhibitions and events on 1st Oct has been suspended

• Pubs, restaurants and bars will have to close at 10pm (except for takeaways)

• Only “table-only” service will be allowed at pubs, restaurants and bars

• Staff in retail and indoor hospitality will have to wear masks

• The Covid-secure workplace guidance will become a legal obligation.

• The number of people able to attend a wedding is being reduced to 15 from the previous 30

• The £10,000 fines imposed on those who don't quarantine will now be applied to businesses and the penalty for failing to wear a mask or breaking rule of six will double to £200.

• Exemptions to the “rule of six” will be reduced.

• People have been asked to work from home if they can.

This time last year we were visiting the beautiful Stratford-upon-Avon as part of our client's social programme.

Clearwater Events delivered a multifaceted day, with several tour options, to Stratford-upon-Avon for over 500 people from the ICC in Birmingham.

The day was a huge success. It showed very strong logistically planning from our side and it was an incredible achievement!

When COVID-19 struck, it had little effect on our business structure and it just confirmed the reasons for us setting up the business this way in the first place. Clearly it put all of our events on hold, but we are still here ready to go. When you're ready, we're ready!

There is a lot of confusion regarding VAT and live events right now. Until 12 January 2021, the VAT you pay to deliver an event will change. Here is a summary of charges. the great news is that managing events has become far most cost effective.

There is every hope that live events will be permitted from some point in October. So, now is a great time to consider planning a live event in November & December, perhaps with a hybrid element?

The revised VAT breakdown includes:
* Room Hire 20%
* Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner 5%
* Refreshments 20%
*Accommodation 5%
* For DDR rates there is a 5% VAT adjustment for lunch
* For 24hr rates, there is a 5% VAT adjustment for accommodation, breakfast, lunch & dinner
